Malfunction Indicator Light

I borrowed a '99 pathfinder today and somehow the Radiator Cap has come loose and fallen off during the trip (very strange, possibly not screwed on properly). The vehicle overheated however I don't believe the head has cracked as there is no water in the oil and it is running fine now that the radiator has been re-filled and a replacement cap fitted.

The Malfunction Indicator Light is now on, and remains on. Is this possibly a result of the car overheating and a switch in the computer being activated, Or something else to do with the overheating?
