glenn
Any thoughts on how to add a second alternator? I was thinking of getting an alternator/ welder unit and figured adding it as a second unit would give me a backup for the first and increase the overall power for winching. Any advice or a point in right direction would be appreciated ! THANKS --glenn Edited August 12, 2006 by glenn
88pathoffroad
If you have AC, remove the AC and put one in up there. Or just plain run a 200 amp alternator...
glenn
thanks, but in S.Cal I need the AC. I wanted to run 2 different alts so that I would have a back-up if one went out. Any other ideas would be appreciated. THANKS ! -glenn
sammyb33
if one goes on the trail, just keep the second in your truck for a semi-easy fix....
88pathoffroad
There's no room to add another one, then. Sorry.
Ramithepimp77
Ya there is no room HA! If you can part with that AC it would make it way easier. I just took mine out 2 days ago. Its quick, easy, and now I think this will light a fire under my a** to get a Quest alt and put it there. Rami
mws
You would need to fabricate new brackets, cut a big hole in the hood, and use a muuuuuuch longer drive belt... I would go with a high output alternator in stock location and carry the stocker as a spare.
