I'm having a hard time finding any information on this. I have a 1988 Pathfinder 4x4 5spd that runs terrible. I've had nothing but trouble with the stock TBI since I've owned it, and I would much rather have MPFI. I have an opportunity to buy a 1993 Pathfinder 4x4 auto. I prefer the 2 door and 5spd over the 4 door auto. I would like to swap the VG30e from the 93 over to the 88. Has anybody done this, and what is involved? Is it as simple as swapping the engine and wiring harness, (and computer)? If the O2 sensors are different, can I swap the exhaust too? I believe the TBI engine bottom end is still ok, is it better/easier to just swap the intake and related parts? I thought I saw something about having to shorten the intake studs if I do this. I do like the idea of swapping to an entire engine that I know runs good. Does anyone know where I can find a write up of any of this being done? I need all the Information I can get. Thanks for your help.

I have an '88 Pathfinder 3.0 v6 that has been giving me trouble for the past 5 months. I just replaced the throttle body (entire unit, sensors too) and now I have a whole new problem. It used to surge up and down erratically, but now it wont even stay running. I think its flooding itself out. It also has a high pitched whistle (no, I dont have a vacuum leak. Ive checked) and will run fine for a few seconds then stumble and die. Ive been struggling for months with this problem, can someone please help me?

I just rebuilt my throttle body and finally got my 1988 Pathfinder started again. It was pretty rough starting but it coughed to life. It was fine for about 10 seconds until the RPMs started surging up and down. Can someone please help me?

1988 4x4 5 speed with the vg30i. I’m having a small issue with the hose coming off the bottom of my radiator. When the motor is running, the top end of the hose will have a small bit of coolant pushing through the top, even though the hose clamp is as tight as it will ever get. Anyone have any ideas? It’s not a big enough leak to cause overheating issues but I would rather stop it. Thanks.

Hey everyone, was hoping to get some good links to info about doing a conversion from throttle body to multipoint on my '87 pathfinder. I guess I should start by asking if it's worth the trouble for better gas mileage/upgradability in the future? Or is just a straight swap to a vg30e or vg33 the better choice? I'm no stranger to working on cars, but I dont exactly have the time/skill/shop to swap an entire engine. But I'd be happy to tear apart a top end to change headers or manifolds if it's worth the effort.
