  1. yeahah, got my locker today, getting ready for the big install. my new job has a nice, HUGE air compressor and my boss said i could use it for my own rig's work, so im gonna head over and do it at the shop. should be fun. my boss is pretty excited to, haha.(but i would think so, he drives a volvo 240dl) hope everything goes as smoothly as yours all's did!
  2. i went through three cans of gunk on my steering system and the lower part of my engine and it got no cleaner. G(j)unk is crap! besides, it smells like the old diff oil that comes outa trucks when us jiffy lube techs have the pleasure of draining and filling them. blech!
  3. where did you get the materials? i would like to do this to my tbi, since i just bought a whole new tbi unit off a 1989 with 40k on it. can you tell me what you used for the studs too?
  4. Being a kid who just graduated high school, i get to put up with all the kids who think they are hardcore offroaders because they have lifted jeeps and dirtbikes. i had to take their crap for four years while i drove my pathy around. but guess what? my pathy made it through the hollister mud pit that every single one of those kids' jeeps got stuck in, AND i pulled 2 of them out. what now? it's not the better vehicle or the better driver, it's the combination of the two. you gotta know your rig and it's limitations. you can't just take a hummer out and try to crawl it all over yellowstone. it just won't do it. you gotta know what it CAN and CAN'T do first.
  5. i just got done cleaning mine. well, i didnt get the result i was looking for, to say the least. my truck wont stay running without holding my foot on the throttle, the check engine light is on, and now i can't go past 2800rpm's. why is it that something breaks when i do it? the wires are perfectly in tact and everything is cool with the MAF. can anyone explain?!?!?!?!
  6. would you need to take all the wiring from the dash and inside the car and replace that too or just under the hood? shoot, i might have my mechanic switch to this new intake manifold that came on my new engine if it's that simple!
  7. you don't think the wiring harness would have to be updated?
  8. wierd, i just posted the same topic in the garage forum. i bought a new engine for my 88 pathy and the engine they sent me had the mutli-port intake on it. i really hope people will post. good luck to you!
  9. hey 88, just lookin at your rig and wondering what the thing that looks like a bar mounted to your front bumper was? just wonderin, looks kinda neat. -study-
  10. Cool, I found a local dealer who has them for 329.95 including delivery (since he's close). As for the other stuff, it should be coming in soon so i can start piecing it all together. I feel like a kid in a candy store with this one! thanks everyone for all your help! keep feedin me suggestions if you will, as i am still new to this but would really like to get into it x-core or whatever haha
  11. Well, I tried summit and no luck (unless i wasnt looking hard enough), so i went to the thorley website and found one of their dealers in socal, so he wants like 400 for them. is that too much?
  12. Does anyone know where I can get thorley headers? Or maybe some pacesetters? I just need to know where I can order them from
  13. Same problem here, and that sound you gte driving next to a wall could be an exhaust leak like mine. check the passeneger header bolts and see if any are slightly loose. If they are, you might want to look into getting a new one(s). If you tighten it back up, you might be drilling it out in a few months. Just a thought. good luck bro!
  14. Thanks everyone! My dad is the semi-conductor industry so he knows a lot of guys who own metal shops, so i think I can build my own roof rack using some pretty heavy duty material. Then i will get a hi-lift, shovel and all the goodies to clip onto the basket. I've also decided to get my old spare tire carrier out and use that to mount a gas and water can to (the old G.I. style). This project should be a lot of fun. Has anyone ever installed the Trailmaster 4" suspension kit before? Or put in a new Nissan v6? The more the help and the know-how the better!
  15. hey thanks man. i guess we all gotta learn sometimes, yeah? haha i feel stupid
  16. lol this is gonna sound pretty stupid to most on this forum, but can someone explain an sas bumper to me? and a sans bumper? im still new to the offroading world, so every little bit of help i can get is GREATLY appreciated
  17. A great day in my house. I got a scholarship that I don't need in the amount of $5,000, so, naturally, i decided to keep the ever-faithful pathy and put the money into it! Here's what I bought so far: NEW engine 115 amp alternator trim line electric fan stainless steel brake lines brake master cylinder and booster TrailMaster 4" Suspension lift (w/ rs9000x shocks) 3 inch Body Lift Optima Batteries (2) new engine components: water pump, p/s pump, injectors, intake manifold, gear box, all that stuff k&n filter new belts, hoses, ignition parts radiator etc. looking for headers, roof rack, an dana rear end anything else i should be purchasing???
  18. hey 88, do you know the part number for your pacesetters? or maybe thorley's? I'm getting a new engine so I'm upgrading everything and would like to add some sound and power. got any suggestions? all help would be appreciated! thanks!
  19. hey just to ease your mind...I'm the manager of Jiffy lube Store #295 here in the Silicon Valley. The tranny flush flushes all the old fluid out with 8 quarts of new fluid, so your guaranteed to have 100% new fluid. The pressurized system also cleans the tranny filter (screen), so you don't have to worry about changing that ethier. hope that makes thing a bit easier for you to understand!
  20. yeah, please do. I'd like to see what it all looks like, finished 'n all. I thought a lot about doing them, but im still not sure. I'm getting a 3" body lift for christmas, so after that it would be nice to do them, too. Then I think I wanna go with some Rancho RS9000x's for the back and 5000x's for the front. Anyone see any flaws with my plan? Criticism is much appreciated by me!
  21. Hey guys. Good work on that exhaust, bro! Well, for christmas I wanted to ask my parents if I could get those Thorley headers because the leak is getting so bad, my car sounds like a little ricer with a constant blow-off valve for tdc. lol. anyways, if anyone could give me an estimate on how much it would be, i would grately appreciate it. thanks!
  22. Being a mechanic, this problem is so common it's a wonder the person who invented rotors never thought of it. To me, it sounds like a warped rotor, which I seriously suggest checking out, otherise your gonna pay a bundle for a new set. Well, you could get some cheap crappy ones, but I don't suggest that. Ask your mechanic to measure the "thickness" of the rotors at four spots, opposite each other. If one spot is more than 10,000ths of an inch off, it's warped. I've dealt witht these alot, and in about 10 mins, your local auto shop can grind em down to like new conditions. Oh, and make sure you change your pads frequently. That helps to keep the heat off the rotor so much. OH, and I suggest GreenStuff brake pads. They're awsome! Good Luck!
  23. where'd u get the new frame from? that's so cool tho, man, darn good job!
  24. yeah, so recently the little rgulator for the temp and fuel level gauages went out. upon taking out the cluster to get the reg. out, I put that cluster back on and have tried for 2 weeks now to get the speedo and odometer to work. Could it be that sending unit and if so, how much and where do i get one? please help. i need to see how fast im going!
  25. hey you can have my spare tire carrier off my 88 se for 50 bucks plus shipping. take it or leave it. area code 94086
