  1. Nice.... Thats the same setup I have been contemplating for my 01. Let us know how it works out and get some before/after pics up if possible.
  2. Paid $2.35/gallon for 93 octane yesterday in the Boston area....
  3. Lift looks awesome! Which struts/shocks did you go with? Also did you go with the manual hubs and what other changes/parts were needed for this lift? I want to lift mine but am not sure on what else, if anything, will need modification besides allignment and tires. Can't wait to see pics with the new tires and maybe wheels!
  4. No one is runnin safari bars huh. I still dunno if I like the full brush guard.... Heres a pic of a pathy I stole off cardomain of a black 01LE with the Westin Safari Bar with some PIAA's. I kinda like this setup, what about you guys? Pics credit to Nick01 on cardomain:
  5. Im having trouble deciding whether to go with a full brush guard or just a safari bar on my 2001. I want to mount lights on it too so some lighting suggestions are welcome too. If you have either on your 99.5+ please post some pics along with brand etc. Thanks.
  6. I am by no means a stereo expert but here is my understanding of factory bose systems and replacing parts of it. Someone correct me if I am wrong please. The bose speakers are individually amplified. They are made to work with the factory bose headunit. You can replace just the headunit alone but you need a special adapter for it to work with the factory bose amps. The crutchfield link you provided is one of the adapters available to add an aftermarket cd player to the factory bose speakers. This setup (aftermarket cd player, special adapter, and bose speakers) will not sound all that great, in my opionin it sounds much worse than the full bose system. (This is the setup I currently have) You could replace the cdplayer and also replace all the bose speakers without rewiring the car. You can just use the existing wires going into the factory bose speakers, cut off the ends, and connect them to the new speakers. This setup will be basically unamplified since its just a headunit running directly to the speakers. It might sound alright but you won't be able to get much volume out fo the speakers before distortion. The best option for replacing the factory bose system would be to replace the headunit, replace the speakers, and add an amplifier. This means you will need to basically rewire the entire car but it will give you the best sound quality, it should should sound better than the factory bose setup did. Like I said, I am by no means a car stereo expert, this is all based off my understanding of the bose system, discussions about this topic with the car audio shop that did my Maxima's system, and my slight knowledge of car audio.
  7. Stock tire size on a 2001 SE pathy is a 255/65/16. I plan on replacing my tires with a 255/70/16 Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo. From what I've read and my understanding, 255/70/16 is the largest you can go on a stock 01 SE without any rubbing or other clearance issues.
  8. THat's the adapter I used. It will allow you to use an aftermarket headunit with your stock bose speakers but it will NOT sound as good as it did with the stock headunit. In my opinion it sounds much worse than stock and thats why I want to replace the stock speakers.
  9. My 01's changer went out on me couple months ago. I ordered a Alpine headunit off crutchfield.com and got the adapter they sell also to allow me to use the hu with the bose speakers. It was really easy to install, but it sounds like crap. Eventually I will replace my speakers and add an amp, but for now I guess its fine.
  10. Hmm Ill have to try the silicone spray too since my driver side window is awful slow. My window motor also sounds like its struggling compared to the sound of the passenger side. Did you guys experience this too? I guess it would sound like that because of no lubrication anyways and doesn't necessarily mean its on its way out....
  11. Just do whatever matches the factory tint best. I had my front windows and sunroof on my 01 tinted with a smoke 20% to match the factory tint in the back. It came out a pretty good match, might be just a tad darker than the factory tint. Cost me $80 and came with a lifetime warranty. I might go back and get a piece of 35% put over the back windows to darken it up just a bit more.
  12. An update on my situation: I called the dealer and told them about the pulley falling off and they agreed to cut me a check to reimburse me for having the other garage put the pulley back on for me. Dealer seems to think the SES light is related to something else which they said they wouldn't cover if it threw a code because they think its just a coincidence that it came on after the pulley came off..... Im going to head to autozone sometime and have them pull the code and see what happens.
  13. The Dunlop Grandtreks on my 01 are SCARY in the snow/ice and also a little iffy on wet roads. I can barely move in 2wd when theres snow on the ground. I hope to upgrade to the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos soon size 255/70/16. These are as close to the stock size as I can get. They are just as wide, just about an inch or so taller.
  14. So this past Tuesday I brought my 01 Pathy I bought used in October to the dealership for my first oil change since they offered me a discounted first oil change so I took advantage of it since its been too cold to change it myself and it was pretty cheap. Now I hate bringing my car to the dealer because its always too expensive and they can never seem to do anything right in my past experiences at least. They made a mess of my maxima while I was having the tranny fixed under warranty a few years back and since then I have not let the dealer touch my cars. Well I made an exception this time around figuring they could handle an oil change... Anyways, my belts were a little squealy lately and were looking pretty dry so I decided to let the dealer replace those for me too while I was in for the oil change. So they did the work and then yesterday I was heading back out to school in Boston and I'm on the mass pike doin 85 or whatever and all the sudden i hear a snap sound, A/T oil temp, brake, and the battery indicator all light up on the dash and I lose power steering. So I'm like sh|t, darn belt broke. Pulled over and called AAA and got towed to this small shop in Sturbridge. Pop the hood, I look down and see the belt loosely hanging there but its still in one piece, then I notice the tensioner pulley is missing...... darn thing fell off :furious: so the mechanic at the shop pulled it into the garage and luckily the splash guard caught the pulley along with the nut and the metal cap. The mechanic put the pulley back on for me and I made it to school but now the SES light is on and I'm also wondering if there was supposed to be anymore hardware besides just the pulley, nut, and that metal cap that might have gotten lost on the highway. Can't wait to call the dealer tomorrow and tell them they owe me $58 and maybe a new pulley assembly because of their "tech" who obviously forgot to tighten the pulley. Sorry for the long post, had to rant a bit.... Cliffs notes: Got belts replaced on my 01 Pathy at dealer last tuesday, yesterday on the highway tensioner pulley fell off, dealers "techs" are incompetent.
  15. Yeah the corner lights are a pain in the butt to get out. I broke one of those metal plug/snap things too on my stock corner light when I was replacing them with the clear sidemarkers I got off ebay. I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer will want like 100 bucks for just one side on those corner lenses....
  16. http://courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchan...ode=B7200-00004 theres everything you need to know about the microfilter. There is a link to installation instructions on the page also which will show you how to get to it.
  17. Doesn't work on my 01 either, gonna have to try it with my mom's 02 LE when I go home hehe.
  18. wow that thing is a monster...
  19. Is the brush guard the dealer sells any good? It seems like everyone goes with another brand?? What are the differences.
  20. My 01 does the same thing. It doesnt take long for the light to go off, but its definitely not instant.
  21. Ive noticed the same thing in my 01 that i just picked up a few weeks ago. When cold it slips just a bit, but when fully warmed up the slip goes away. Seems normal to me I guess.
  22. man, you musta jinxed me or something, now my changer is starting to act up. Ive only had the darn thing for 2 weeks and the thing is already pissing me off. The past few days, probably happened 4 or 5 times, but i will be playing a cd, and it will just cut out mid song, and start changing discs and keep cycling. Today when i went to leave in the pathy, i couldnt even get the changer to work until like after 20 min of driving and it did the cutout mid song thing once, it was kinda cold out and i know in my max the bose headunit didnt seem to like the cold and wouldnt play when the car was cold, would only make clicking noises until the car warmed up after 20 min or so..... looks like its time to buy a new headunit already.....
  23. Hey, its scmaxima2k from over at the org . Those prices are crazy for this pos changer!!!!!! wow man, it would be a ton cheaper just to lose the changer and blose hu and throw a decent alpine headunit in there. I noticed today while changing cds in my pathy how noisy and slow this changer is. I dont know why, but my mom has an 02 pathy with the newer bose version of the indash 6disc changer it it not only looks better but seems to function better, yet ive heard of people having problems with that changer too....
  24. Hey, Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. Just picked up my 2001 Pathfinder yesterday. Got a black SE, sunroof, charcoal cloth interior, 51k miles, pretty clean I think for a used car. While I am new to my 01 Pathy, Im not new to Nissans. My mom has an 02 Pathfinder LE and I also own a 00 Maxima that I have had for the past few years and have modded a little. Dont really have many plans for the pathy yet....ordered some clear corners, and Ive got a whelen strobe kit sitting in my room that i will probably throw in it lol. Probably do some meatier tires at some point and I also want to get the bumpers and flares painted black too.... Anyways just wanted to share a couple pics of it: Heres a couple shots of my Maxima too:
  25. I havent had any problems driving around in my maxima with just parking lights and fogs on..... I see BMWs and Pontiacs driving around all the time same setup and they can do it stock. On my Maxima when I rewired the fogs to come on with the parking lights, all i did was cut a wire from the fog relay and tap into the running lights power. This same method would work on a pathy, only problem is figuring which color wires to cut and tap since it might be different......
