  1. the "top" head is the RH and the "bottom" head is the LH there is only 1 valve open....
  2. thanks for the offer but K9 offered to sell me one of his already. Well.. both heads are off and it just gets uglier.... here are some pics from today... just a note: i didn't drain the block of coolant before pulling the ehads.. i dunno if it's supposed to be there.. but it is.. this one has literally melted on the rhs....... you can rub your finger over the large bump of piston..
  3. cool beans. i will take a pic of it and you can let me know what you think... i would rather have a perfect condition one.. money is tight.. but my truck is worth it if i don't have to go in there for a long.......looooong time to come
  4. the only thing that caught my eye was the belt seemed to be "wearing" (discoloring/showing more signs of wear) on the outter edge than inner.. the burr/stab mark is in the outer side of the sprocket... i do not have access to my pathy or the camera until i get in touch with dave as i am not driving his car until i talk to him.. i will have him take a pic... i think he still has my spare to the pathy. (sprockets are inside pathy on floor) i am very anal.. if it's not perfect.. all hell breaks loose..lol
  5. why not do what someone posted pics of ( i can never find the posts when i want them) .. he cut out the "skid/lower panel" and replaced it with some diamond plate he painted black... so now it looks like a rock slider.. looked schweeeeeeeeet too i'll try to find the post... yay.. here it is http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=7698
  6. i thought i took a pic of it.... but i can't find it on the disk.. i will take a pic tomorrow n you can let me know if oyu think it should be changed.. the only ting i am worried about is it chewing up the t-belt over time with the rough edges.. but i am afraid to smooth down the "divet" it made... any thoughts? how much are new cam sprockets? or yours?
  7. even between both of us they would not budge... either they were exceptionally stuck from the factory.. but i think the PO torqued em too tight.. you can see where some dipsh!t stuck the screwdriver against one of the LH cam teeth n chipped it.. not bad enuff to worry about it... but enuff for me to notice n be pissed off about it...lol..
  8. tried that.. no luck. air was a last resort only a quick shot of it.. that was enuff to break 'em loose.... then by hand after that
  9. the huge vise grip idea didn't work... whatever they previously put those cam sprockets on with it was TIGHT... dave tried while i held the sprocket.. i tried while he held the sprocket.. and NADDA. i had sprayed them for 2 days with PB blaster too! and STILL nothing.. so that is why we HAD to resort to air. the sprockets did not move.. we made damn sure of it.. and he only hit them real quick to break then loose.. after that it was by hand. I may change the t-belt... but mine looks real good and is only 3,000 miles old..... haven't decided yet. i have an i'view today so i won't be getting the heads off til tomorrow now... exhaust n all is off so it's just the heads now.. *bites nails at what she'll find* sssh
  10. pssd ok... so you reaaaaaaaaally want me to go there right now?
  11. ok.. so today my RH header bit dave n he proceeded to bleed everywhere the cam sprockets would NOT come off so we had to quick blast them with the air gun dealio.. they came off then.. i lined back up LH sprocket.. eberything so far looks good.. heads come off tomorrow.. oh joy.. that's when we'll see.... here are a few pics from todays episode :X
  12. i was gunna say.. in my hanes it shows it.. but i am without my manual here right now.... it's drying out after my intake plentum peed all over it after i sprayed 2 cans of carb cleaner inside it (the intake not the manual) me, my manual, and my baggies were victims of the blackness.... it was gross...... REALLY ...gross... ao again.. how do i set the cam sprocket back to "normal".. after i take it off can i put it back on one tooth over? i will have to see today how the innards work.. the cam sprockets n backign plate n headers come off today... tomorrow heads.. oh joy.. can't wait mm... my t-belt has the "squared" nub thingies on it...... just FYI
  13. yesh. since i've had the truck it's been like that. when i changed the t-belt and even when i pulled the motor out it was like that.. it has always been 1 tooth off....
  14. the t-belt has 3,000 miles on it and the h2o pump has about 2,000 miles on it.. so neither will be replaced. The t-belt has not got anything on it, i was very sure about that.. so it will be fine to reuse on there, along with the h2o pump. i will be replacing the t'stat, cap & rotor though
  15. from all the damn bars leak there was a lot of sludge in my LH valve body.... i really think that crap did more harm than good and will be looking to find some sort of engine flush once she's back together
  16. yeah.. the belt i just took off has all the bells n whistles too.. so it won't be an issue putting it back on. I am not gunna mess with anything.. just put it back together the way it came off.... the deeper i get into there.... the uglier it gets.... i am feeling some rings shot between psiton 5 & 6... here's a few shots from today.. tomorrow the cam sprockets come off and the heads...
  17. :o he has no shirt on!!! WOOT -bounce- oh.. hehee.... nice rails!! :cool2:
  18. so.. how do i get my timing right if the manual says to have the timimg pulley at 0 degrees? this is what i didn't understand... does it automatically set itself upon start up or something? as the motor turns it changes.. cuz i know it owuldn't start at 0 degrees....
  19. hehehe.. no.. haven't got that far as i am concerned about fixing this issue b 4 going any further... i have no housing mark to line up the lower end.. as i guess is most everyones case.... i noticed when we did the t-belt b 4 that one cam sprocket was 1 tooth out.. but this time i want to get everything 100% dead on... i do NOT want to be back in there again anytime soon.. nor do i need anything breaking.l and when i smogged her he said my timing was 1 degree out at 14 degrees...... i think they are supposed to be at 13 degrees?
  20. yes. the LH cam sprocket is off by one tooth from its mark.. everything else lines up PERFECTLY
  21. i took pics of everything... according to me and the manual.. my timing pulley is at ZERO degrees, and my rotor is dead on its mark, and the RH cam sprocket is also dead on.. and the center white line in the t-belt is dead above the timing pulley dead on mark.. so the only thing that is out is the 1 cam sprocket by a tooth... here are a couple pics
