  1. I smashed my passenger door in this past weekend... Don't really care about the damage aesthetically speaking.. I did have to take sledge hammer to the floor board to be able to get the door to close without slamming it.. I was considering purchasing me a pair of these sliders and welding them so my door will remain operational in the future... I was thinking about getting the 58" ones for $149.00 Shipping is around $40 for these... http://marlincrawler.com/armor/side/rock-slider I am gathering quotes for welding them on as we speak.... Any suggestions and/or recommendations??? Please.. I did do a search - only got a few hundred threads of people showing off their custom fabbed sliders...
  2. Does it sound like the CRUNCHING/Squeakin like my front end in the video of this thread? http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=20927
  3. I had a 97 4runner last year with 212k miles on it. It was a much nicer ride than my pathfinder but it should be for $5500 vs. $1800 for my pathfinder. I blew the engine within 45 days of getting it because I got some mud on the timing belt which caused it to slip. Bent rod... It had a lot nicer interior but it was a 97 - I am not sure what the 97 pathy's interior is like but surely it is nicer than my 91 path. It also rode ALOT smoother but there is NO COMPARISON to my pathy on the trails. The LSD on my path kicks the @!*%e out of anything my 4runner could do. If you go with a toyota get one with the Electronic Diff locker... Mine did not have it therefore it was weak in the wheeling department. I love my pathfinder! Old Trail Rig New Trail Rig
  4. I reposted the Dec. 2008 truck of the month here because I do believe he got air... WOW!
  5. If you have SAS you will need to look for new and harder challenges. I personally don't mind the challenge of having IFS - it makes wheeling more fun for me personally because I have to think harder about the lines I want to take where as I know if I was SAS'd I could just PLOW straight through them. For me the terrain that is around me - SAS would make the close by wheeling spots boring because they wouldn't be challenging anymore. It doesn't matter what you do to your truck - you will have to seek challenges that are appropriate for it.
  6. This is a little place down the street from my house in Katy Texas that I like to take my little boys to play around! Took a buddy with me whom happen to have his video camera and he got this shot. If anyone else has a picture or video of your WD21 getting air - post them up! Comments, suggestions, and/or warnings would be appreciated! name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" wmode="transparent" style="width:400px; height:326px;" id="VideoPlayback" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars=""> The high point of my video...
  7. Just curious: What was wrong with it... What did get for it $? Mileage: Year:
  8. I would talk to these folks... https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=4488
  9. Came across this - might want to add it to the list for a pretty reasonably priced grill gaurd. http://www.bumpernut.com/index.php?main_pa...dex&cPath=7
  10. 3"BL and 33's... As you can tell they tuck up in my fender nicely. There is minimal rubbing! Technically they are 32.83's - they came on my truck when I bought it. I am not sure of the wheel backspacing and such. Here are the tires technical specs that I copied from http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculato...p?action=submit Tire Size - 285/75R16 Section Width: 11.22 in 285 mm Rim Diameter: 16 in 406.4 mm Rim Width Range: 7.5 - 9 in Overall Diameter: 32.83 in 833.88 mm Sidewall Height: 8.41 in 213.61 mm Radius: 16.41 in 416.81 mm Circumference: 103.1 in 2618.7 mm Revs per Mile: 633.5
  11. I thought I did a search on this site - just realized I did the search on a different Nissan Forum with no results. I thought I searched NPORA. I am quite familiar with searching - just had too many windows open on my computer and got confused about where I searched and where I hadn't - my apologies. Thanks for the warm welcome though - Grim! Thank you for the link MZxtreme...
  12. Have a new to me 91 Pathfinder and am currently using a coozie wedged between my seat and emergency brake for a cup holder. I would prefer to have room for two drinks. This is a trail rig so if it requires drilling 4" hole on the top of my dash - I will. Any suggestions and/or ideas? Where to buy? Got pictures? If you just want to tell me this post is stupid - that would make me feel better than you not posting.
  13. Thank you all for your replies... I haven't had a chance to try 4lo as I need to make the hole larger that my shifter sticks out of. The person I bought this vehicle from put a 3" BL on it and never compensated for the tranny being lower.
  14. I had the transmission oil changed today! There were lots of chunks of metal attached to the magnet. I knew there would be some metal fragments but to tell you the truth I was expecting much more metal! Filled it with ONE bottle of Lucus Synthetic Oil stabilizer: Then topped it off with MT-90: Didn't have the time to top the transmission off through the gear shifter but will try too get to it real soon. B-
  15. My tranny is on it's last leg too... Only time it doesn't grind is on a cold morning when the oil is real cold and thick... As it heats up from driving it's back to me having to double clutch when I shift in order to change gears without the GRR....IN...DING! I am amazed at how many transmission shops that I have talked to that don't know what double clutching is... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=pI3cHXnGEx4 I plan on driving this transmission into the ground before replacing it so I just wanted to prolong it's life a little bit. So maybe the standard transmission fluid with the Lucas would be better since the thick cold stuff seems to help in the mornings versus doing the redline. What would you recommend? Motor Oil: Manual Transmission: Trasfer Case: Rear Diff: Front Diff: Other?
  16. I read that the detergents in the synthetics made one guys motor start leaking because it cleaned around the seals too good! I was not going to do synthetic in the diffs either... Just some regular ole' 80w-90 I am open to suggestions... How about I do this a different way. What would you recommend? Motor Oil: Manual Transmission: Trasfer Case: Rear Diff: Front Diff: Other?
  17. Have a new to me 91 pathfinder... I have been daily driving it for a month to make sure that it is mechanically sound before I sink a little $ into her. First thing I was going to do was give her some new blood as I don't know if or when any fluids were changed in her past 130ish miles. After reading post after post after post on this forum and talking to my oil technician - here is what I am thinking... Motor Oil: Good name brand non-synthetic oil with a quart of LUCAS Oil Stabilizer Manual Transmission: Redline MT-90 Trasfer Case: Redline MT-90 Rear Diff: 50% Lucas Oil Stabilizer and 50% 80w-90 Front Diff: 20 % Lucas Oil Stabilizer and 80% 80w-90 The percentages came from a representative at Lucas:800-342-2512 Lucas does not make a GL4 rated manual transmission additive just the GL5. I chose Lucas Oil Stabilizer because all I have ever heard was good things about it. Lucas recommends 25% Lucas and 75% GL4 for the manual transmission but from what I can gather is most of you use the Redline MT-90. Any suggestions, comments, and/or concerns would be VERY MUCH appreciated!!! Any other fluids I should consider changing?
  18. Well - I went wheeling this weekend and came across my first set of challenging obstacles where alot of clutch/throttle work was needed. I must say that it is more challenging to wheel with a stick but it is more fun!!! I never stalled and I was doing some pretty wicked trails. With the combination of the clutch and throttle it is like a balancing act.. I liked it!!! I never really felt I was being too tough on the clutch while climbing obstacles - NO blue smoke - and my truck never got that burned clutch smell... I seemed to be more in tune with the obstacles with a stick - almost like I was a part of the terrain... Thanks to all that replied to this thread!!! B-
  19. Took the pathfinder out for it's Maiden Voyage this weekend... This baby is a beast on the trails.. I will try to get some more offroad pictures when I have more time..... Truck drove like a champ!!! Thank god.... My boys and I had a blast.. Momma was not quite so impressed but I don't think she was feeling too hot in the first place. If anyone lives around Houston and/or Katy texas and want to hook up this place is less than a mile from my house... Very pretty! Behind Grand Oaks subdivision>>>CLICK HERE FOR BIRDS EYE VIEW
  20. My mechanic - which obviously did not road test the vehicle - tested the clutch by putting it in gear, holding the brakes, and slowly letting out. I saw him do this and he said that the clutch was strong. Is there a better way of checking it? I also think that it is the syncros because if I double clutch it grinds ALOT less. I was going to take it to a transmission shop next week for a free inspection to see what they have to say.
  21. I googled the crap out of "How to wheel with a 5 speed" and got natta... I took my new-to-me WD21 offroadish this morning and was climbing some 3-4 foot hills where dumptrucks had dumped excess dirt years ago... Basically I put it in 1st and used the clutch ALOT to control my motion... Is this how to do it? How long can I expect a clutch to last when using it for crawling through rough hills... Any advice for someone that has only wheeled automatics and just bought a 5 speed? A description of your technique for wheeling with a 5 speed would be great! Thanks, Bonner
