  1. I am considering cams and computer too... Can anyone verify or guess that AC's computer is a Jim Wolf? AC's computer is cheaper than JWT... Same thing with the Cams....AC's are cheaper than JWT....
  2. Where did you order your Thorleys from....part # ? Thanks Z
  3. I think that I am going with Thorleys and a custom 2.5 exhaust with Spintech high-flow cat and Muffler: Spintech Website Z
  4. I've heard that Yokohama Geolander MT and AT tires are good with a good price.
  5. I guess life is about compromises. I still have not found a nice 94-95 SE 5-speed, so I am considering an XE. It seems that many XE's do not have the external swing-away tire carrier. For some reason, that is a "must" on my list. Are there any after-market companies that make a similar swing-away tire carrier for the WD-21s? What is involved in mounting a junkyard stock carrier? Any other out-of the box ideas for tire carriers (on the roof, etc...)? Thanks Z
  6. ...about a high flow cat.... check out this website. If I ever find a pathy, I think I will do a custom exhaust with Thorley headers and the Spintech (above link) cat and muffler. Z
  7. I know the feeling. I have a heep I am trying to dump (so I can get a pathy). I have owned it for over three years...however, I've only had it in my posession about half that time. Two morlas to the story: 1> Don't ever buy a heep 2> If you have a big project including engine rebuilds, swaps, splicing wiring harnesses, etc... multiply the time you think it will take by 10 Z
  8. Yikes! :o Check out this link. Click on the last picture. Only $300 bucks sly I would hate to imagine how much it would cost to replace the frame. Z
  9. During my nation-wide, and now international search for that perfect pathy, I have come across a Warren-Miller edition pathy for sale in Vancouver. I know who Warren Miller is....quite a fan myself of the ski film icon, but do any of you know what the Warren Miller edition Pathfinder is all about? Probably just decals, look for yourself here. Z ps- The thing that looks like a paint-splatter or scratch is a skiier decal. pss- How many miles is a 190,000km?
  10. ** Sigh ** The SoCali one already sold :o Please excuse me while I have a little temper-tantrum pssd pssd pssd pssd :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: OK...I am done & the search continues Z
  11. Anyone in SoCali want to check this one out? Shipment from LA to NC is only $500. No rusting in sunny socal! Z
  12. I regret to inform you that I did indeed find a really good deal...so good, that it sold in just two days I was willing to go to CA (from NC), seal the deal and and spend mucho $$ to ship it back here. wheelmanLS1: I saw your website, and it looks like you are right, you do indeed have the cleanest Pathy out there...or around here anyways....I am in Gastonia. Kn0xville: Canada is an option I have not considered before. However, every winter I have noticed the roads up there are always white from either snow or tons of salt....can't be too good for the 1993-1995 models that have the frame rust/rot issue. Nonetheless, I did check out Autotrader.ca and I found their website finiky...I had to search a certain area...not able to do a "nationwide search"....on another note, I think that customs/declarations and taxes would be a headache. Slick: Thanks for the offer....however, I guess it is a mute point now. mws: good point, I never thought of doing that...I just might have to bring up the "whitman arm" next time a call on a unit. So, are there any good used car websites out there that I am missing? The following sites I have been lurking for the last couple of months: autotrader.com cars.com ebay.com carmax.com (They only have newer, pricier units) cragslit.com autotrader.ca NPORA calssifieds WD21 fourms classifieds (where did that site go?) I recently stumbled upon a unit in Portland, OR here. I thnik that this unit is downtown. I am a bit leery of the higher miles (144k), however, it is a fairly good looking unit at a good price. Shipment from OR to NC was $855. I think that the majority of you all are in the PNW area....anyone in Portland? Still Looking for a Pathy, Z_Pilot
  13. Some more good news. The BART train system has a station at the Bay Fair Mall which is somewhat close to the "transfer station" (car shipment point) in San Lorenzo and the train goes to SFO airport. This might just work. Precise1>> Helping a stanger comment. I agree, and you are just one of many nice people in npora. Another member let me use his carfax for some time. You pathy people are great!! Z PS- I am going on a 4 day trip (work) tomorrow early, might not be able to reply \ check posts for a couple of days.
  14. mws & Precise1 : Thanks for the replies. That unit just hit the market yesterday. I saw it on cars.com and craigslist.com. Considering that I am in NC, I can't exactly move on it very soon. 1 to 2 weeks probably. I also need to determine if the seller is willing to do "all the extra stuff" for me...meaning: pick me up at the airport, go to bank...notaries, go with me to the other side of the bay to drop it off for shipment, and then take me back to SFO airport. I just ran a CarFax on it. It came up clean except for a mileage abnormality. The mileage is normal (gets higher with time) except for a 59k mile reading last year....however, the latest mile report looks accurate. As far as questions I will ask...exhaust manifold studs, timing belts, and frame rust\rot issues top my list. A big thing to me is LSD and rear disc. Any other "hot" pathy issues I should ask about? MWS>> "Whitman arm and serviced the piezometric whiffle tube" What the? Either you are kidding or I am the idiot. Precise1>> If you happen to go through the area in future, please PM me. I can't ask you to make a 100mi round-trip to look at something for a total stranger, but if you happen to be there.... Z
  15. Would I be nuts.... ....if I bought a pathy on the other side of the country (CA) and had it shipped to NC? I am having such a hard time finding that perfect unit. I want a black 93-95 SE-V6 5-speed. I have been searching nation-wide for over a month now, and let me tell you, no one drives stick anymore. It seems that all of the nice MT WD21s are on the good side of the country (I am a western guy stuck in the south). :sniff: There was a fairly nice unit in Baltimore, but the guy decided that I was not worth the hassle and sold it to a local for less$. I found a unit on long island, but the seller said that he bought it in michigan (rust) and the Carfax says otherwise. I found a nice unit in CT that was advertised as a 5-speed, however....ooops, its an auto. > Any advice on auto shipping? I have shopped quite ectensively online and the best deal I came up with was Dependable Auto Shipping DAP for $700 CA to NC (terminal to terminal). The rates varied like airline tickets...all the way up to $1600. > What do you all think about this find :1995 SE Leather 5-speed in CA. Compared to what I have found online so far, it seems like a really good deal to me...and it is exactly what I am looking for. No, I have not run a carfax on it yet. > Anyone in the bay area? If you are a Pathy fan, mechanically inclined, know what to look for on the WD-21s, and needs to get out of the house this weekend, I could sure use your help if you could swing by and look at it for me. I would mostly be concerned about the frame rot issue. Thanks for any and all help ou can provide! Z
  16. Have any of you guys ever had an estimate for a top-end rebuild? I found a pathy for sale that has 150k mi. I know a Nissan engine will last if maintained well...but you never really know the maintanence history of of what you're buying. Have any of you had an estimate for cam installs? Thanks, Z (still looking for a Pathy) PS> Why is it so hard to find a nice 93 to 95 SE-V6 5 speed on the East coast?
  17. I think many of you are in the Pacific NW. Anyone in Aloha, Oregon? Seen this Pathy? Z
  18. Thanks for all the replies fellas. Unfortunately, the seller got an offer from a local person (was that you, Animal? j/k There are a few other rigs out there that I like, however, they are either in the "rust belt" or 2000 miles away (I saw a really nice one in Everett, WA). Wish me luck on my search! Z
  19. Kudos to all of you that have invested your time here to create a place for Pathfinder lovers I once owned a 90SE 2dr for several years and I loved her to death. I have recently gotten myself into a never-ending money pit with a Jeep Wrangler. The project was fun...did the whole bit with the mods, but it is still an unreliable Jeep at the end of the day ...it is time to move on to better things. I have been very picky about what Pathy I want: 94 to 95 black SE 5-speed. You can't imagine how hard it is to find a nice MT unit! I finally found one here. What do you think? MUCH thanks to NPORA member jj big shoe for allowing me to use his account to run a carfax. The carfax reveiled no problems, and just two owners. I called the owner and among other things asked about the manifold studs and timing belt. Bad news is that neither has been changed, good news is that it has been lady-driven its whole life. (The owner's wife drives it now, and the original owner is the wife's mother). The owner was not aware of the Pathfinder's maintanence issues (frame rot, manifold studs, timing belt). It sounds like they were the type that: puts gas in the car, wahes/waxes often, & changes the oil regularly...but that is it. The owner did not see any rust, or hear any ticking on a cold start. Irreguardless of this, I am going to have the car inspected. (I can't inspect myself...too far away). So, if you dont mind...can some of you chime in? General Opinions? I am freaking out about the frame rot issue. Do all 93 to 95 Pathys have it? Do the roads get salted in the Baltimore, MD area? Is the engine ruined if the timing belt has not been changed yet? (I had the belt changed on my previos Pathy at 75k mi) Thanks, and I hope to become an active part of the NPORA community. Z_Pilot
  20. Hi all- I am considering getting a Pathfinder again (I had one several yrs ago & loved it ). I have an eye out for a nice one: 89 Pathfinder I think that it is a little pricey, esp with the tranny troubles. :contract: No offense to anyone, but AT drives me nuts! -thnkboutit- Can a MT be swapped into a Pathfinder with relative ease? Or does it open a whole can of worms that is just not worth it? Cheers Z_Pilot BTW- I searched through hundreds of posts on several message boards and came up with nothing.
