My '97 took 4L, not sure if the VG and VQ motors use the same trans though.

I use the trans crossmember and the mounting points for the rear lower control arms.

It's about -17deg C here every morning on the overhead display. I'm getting around 270kms on a 60L fill. I compensated for my tire size and converted to us gallons and I've done 11mpg, 10.5mpg and 11.5mpg. This upcoming fill I'm expecting to be my worst. I plug my truck in every night, runs on a timer to come on about 1hr before I leave. I have a remote start and let it run for under 10 minutes every morning before I leave. My daily commute is only 10 minutes each way however, lots of short trips. Truck is all stock with fresh platnium plugs, new thermostat, new air filter, synthetic rear diff fluid and synthetic motor oil. I also upgraded/added a few grounds. Anyone ever looked into putting Xterra auto locking hubs on a pathfinder? Not sure if the axle spline count is the same but if it is, looks to me like it would bolt on. Would provide the mileage benefit of manual locking hubs without the hassle of getting out to lock them. This would be a plus in winter especially, I think I'd rather take the mileage hit than have to get out all the time to engage 4WD since I'm in and out of 4HI so much.

If your pathfinder is an automatic, beside the brake master there is a block off plate where the clutch master cyl would go. Unbolt it and drill a hole in it, then re-install and fish your power cable through. Don't forget to use a grommet or peice of tube to insulate the wire from the metal edges of your hole.

Un-hook a vacuum line and stick it into the bottle with the engine running. The motor will run rough and suck in the fluid through the intake. You might have to modulate the throttle to keep it running. There will be lots of white smoke out the exhaust. For the last little bit of fluid left in the bottle let the engine choke out. Let it sit for 15 minutes and the start up the truck and take it for a spin until the exhaust isn't blowing tons of white smoke anymore. The instructions should be on the bottle.

Sorry yes I meant -12mm offset, which translates to 4" backspacing.

The lower the number, the further out the wheels will stick. http://www.chevellestuff.com/tech/wheel_offset.htm My truck has 15x8 wheels with -12 deg offset and the tires stick out about 2.5" past the body (no flares on mine) if that helps you chose an offset.

Do you have a lift? I wonder how many people lift trucks with the load sensing valve and don't bother correcting for that as well. That's got to give poorer braking performance on a lifted truck, no? If the truck thinks the rear end is way up in the air all the time and cuts braking power to the rear brakes...

I had to look it up and it's actually bolted to the underside of the upper intake manifold. It's right at the back along the firewall, right overtop the drivers side valve cover. So it looks like the only way is to pull off the upper intake manifold to get at it. So unless you have a warm place to work and a weekend to burn, nissandoms47 suggestion of seafoaming the motor is the most convenient way of cleaning it IMO. EDIT: I just tried doing an idle air volume relearn on my '97 and the scanner didn't even have that listed as an procedure that can be performed on it. So much for my idea.

Yes it applies to pretty much all MAF equipped nissans. Unfortunately the only way I know of doing a re-learn is with the nissan code scanner, which means a trip to the dealership. It doesn't take long however, I'm guessing they might charge 1/2 hr? I suppose I should throw in a disclaimer that I could very well be wrong, but I figured it was better to give you another option vs saying nothing. Diagnosing problems without seeing the car is difficult unless it's a known common problem. I'd start off with cleaning out the IAC though, that's free and only takes a bit of your time.

I'm an apprentice at a Nissan dealership, had a murano come in today where the rpms would drop way down right after start-up then level off after a second or so. For this the tech beside me recommended an idle air volume re-learn. Basically calibrating the mass air sensor. A bit different symptoms than what you're experiencing but might be helpful.

Alright I have a question for those of you running 31s and a lift on aftermarket wheels. Right now I've got 31x10.5 tires on 15x8 wheels with 4" backspacing, stock suspension. Needless to say, the tires stick out of the fenders by 2.5" ('97 LE model, I don't have flares). The problem with this is if I flex out the suspension, the rear tires bottom out on the fender instead of traveling up inside the fender wells. Will a lift solve this issue? I think the key factor in my problem is the backspacing of the rims is quite aggressive.

Whoa, I just joined and I'm pretty surprised that there's so many Winnipegers here! tekazgtr1984, did you buy new flares too or just the fenders? Mine is an LE so it doesn't have flares and I wouldn't mind adding them.
