  1. All sounds fair. What does "brick your ECU" mean?
  2. Before I seafoamed, my oil pressure was waaay low, it rarely ever hit the first line on the guage when it was warm, cold it seemed fine. After words, when its cold, it runs 2 needle widths above 60psi, and when its fully warm, idle it sits just below the first line on the guage, and on the freeway it builds up to a needle below 60 psi in general. Somtimes it will be more, and some days a little less. Only once did my oil light come on, it was idling and the needle was banked all the way down, no oil pressure at all apparently. The Seafoam could be coincidental, but since my lifter stopped sticking my oil pressure improved. If it's not coincidental and cleared some stuff out of the pump and what not, I would suggest doing that first to see if anything imroves
  3. Very curious about this! Say, if this does improve performance, mpg, and shift patterns, how much would you charge to do it to mine? I live in Camas/Vancouver, WA so I could drive up?
  4. The stock wiring definitely scared me a little, there's a lot of mumbo jumbo in there. 20 min later I was back home with new power wires, and speaker wire. I don't like the concept of using ANYTHING stock when it comes to stereo wiring, no matter what the car. I like to know what I have done, and how I did it, and know that I dont have to worry about old, shoddy wiring. The ground I decided to permanantly use is a random screw and washer on my inner fender. I think this is what the previous owner might have used, because it goes to absolutely nothing. It's just there. Everything else for the most part seems to be well put together, just not the wiring...
  5. lol of course =P Nah, my dad is a longshoreman, gets those straps free from the ships that come in, they support the load on the cranes, well basically thats what the cranes LIFT the shipment with. 20,000 is not what I meant to type either, I meant 120,000lb rated. They come with the ship and the load, so since the Port has no use for them, its either the dumpster or free to whoever at the Port wants them Ratchet straps are also free as well
  6. I think 88pathoffroad hand-made his
  7. Titan? That looks like a frontier to me... That's insane though
  8. Damnit, my deck is bad I tested it at the battery and the fuse blew a few times. That sucks
  9. I got my 30'x3" free from the Port of Vancouver, WA 20,000lb rated
  10. lol which one...the rats nest in my dash or what? There's only 3 wires going to my deck ATM...
  11. I'm quite satisfied with the Seafoam. My oil pressure has gradually increased and now sits around 60 instead of barely reaching the first line on the dial. To me this is exciting. See See! That's just mulling around town, nothing really exciting
  12. Haha yeah, dads. I remember my dad's old '84 S10 durango 2.8. 486,000 miles, all original for the most part. Oh yeah, that's when the odo stopped working, then add 5 years of hard driving to that =P. It did like starters though, which were a B!TCH to replace! Thing burned so much oil, he never had to change his either. He would put about a quart a month or more into it. Had that truck for eons, I think since the late 80's. Traded it for a trailer to haul some stuff in, still ran haha. Poor truck was so tired when he got rid of it. And, no matter where you were, it was always going 55 mph. Now he's got an '01 F150, which he vowed to take care of...yeah, right. He abuses that thing now too!
  13. Thanks. Still been silent for the most part. Our temps here are swooping into the mid-high 20's at night, so its sort of starting to tick a little right at start up. Not anywhere near as bad as it was before, though. Right now I have Pennzoil 5W-30 in there, before that was argh....Castrol 10W-40. Same with my old 1993 explorer my dad gave me, he lost his job a long while back and neglected the thing for about 20,000 miles. 13,000 of that was on the same oil...should be a record or something. Still ran like a champ, started first crank, never ticked, smoked, or anything. Even though during this time it overheated at least 20 times because he never replaced the radiator. Finally, when he got enough money, he put upwards of $1000 into it, and she ran great. I drove it for almost a year, but the brakes were starting to go which ended up putting me into a guardrail on the first rain of the season. Sold it at 220,000 miles and still ran as strong as when he bought it with 79,000 miles in 1999. My dad drove it hard, and never really gave any problems, besides a fuel pump relay ($13), 4x4 was glitchy, and the overheating issues. I think we got one of the better batches Ford made Here she is with 219k on the clock, AFTER I hit the guardrail I do miss the interior, which was near perfect as well
  14. Yeah, I read other reviews here and there from back then that rated the Pathfinder MUCH higher than this. But DAYYYUMMM! If the VG30e was rated at 180 I would be doing the swap this very day!
  15. The only thing I have hooked up to the deck is the power wires. The deck is 2 years old and came out of my buddy's Cherokee, which was professionally installed and uninstalled when he bought it new at Audio Source and we had it bench tested at Audio Source before he gave it to me, and it works fine. The power wires I'm using I bought from them as well, which I got a lot in bulk and are colored yellow, red, and black. The ground is grounding to a big ass screw that goes to nothing on the firewall. That was the first ground I tried, then I tried the frame, no luck. The constant power I have hooked up directly to the battery via a terminal connector and the 15A inline fuse. The ACC, I'm not sure what it's to. There was a random wiring harness underneath the dash that had a few wires running to it, but didn't connect to anything at all. Looks like something a dealership would use for some reason. It's an ACC powered harness so I used the power line from that. I put electrical tape over the ends of the speaker wire that comes from the back of the deck to make sure those weren't touching at all. I don't even have an speakers installed yet. I have not installed my subwoofer and amp because of the stock alternator. I also don't have the antenna installed. Just power for now.
  16. The wiring harness/clip to the deck labels 15A power, ACC, and ground. Yellow, red, and black, respectively. I ran my own wires, because whoever did the last stereo install left a nice mess of jumbled stock wiring in there.
  17. As far as I can tell, they're all good. Shrink wrapped, the whole nine yards. I forgot to mention I changed my ground 3 flippin times, as soon as power hits the deck the fuse blows.
  18. Wiring up my stereo, bypassing everything stock... The fuse on the back of the deck keeps blowing, and its frustrating the hell out of me I have it hooked up to ACC and in line fused to the battery (15A) and ground. Am I missing something? The in line fuse doesn't blow, but the 15A on the back of the deck does. WTF. Do I need to fuse the power from the ACC?
  19. I read this and the song rang through my head, and I started laughing in the middle of class. This would be the second time NPORA has gotten me in trouble at school!
  20. Yes sir.The drive to school this morning was silent as well
  21. Yeah, I could hear it ticking from the valve cover on the passenger side. It never ticked when its cold either, other than a second or two at most which stopped suddenly when the fluid got to it. My oil was ugly as hell when it came out though, good grief
  22. I think you corrected me. Mercedes is far worse than any Chrysler dealership. Snobby, and stuck up. Also, it seems that unless they SEE you drive up in a fancy ass car, the salesman treat you like you have no money at all. When they find out that you do have a lot, their attitude changes. My mother's friend, Cindy, took me with her to purchase a new SUV. Yes, she was "loaded" but did not act it at all. Dressed pretty low end, casual. At the time she was driving a 2004 745Li, and was looking for either a Cayenne, X5, or a ML-500. The first place we went was the Mercedes dealership, and asked to look at the SUV. We weren't dressed nicely, so he was snub, uptight, and somewhat "know it all" like. During the first part of the test drive, she was trying to figure out buttons, and the salesman was barely of any help. Just sort of stared out the window. She then asked him on the test drive why she should buy this Mercedes over an X5 4.8is. His reply was "you'd have to be an idiot to buy a BMW. Mercedes outclasses every they car they have." (Can ya see the irony here?) A few miles down the road, he asked her what kind of car she drove. She casually replied, "oh, just a 2004 BMW 745Li." His face turned beat red, and he said a muffled "oh." His attitude COMPLETELY changed, and was nice, courteous, and somewhat respectful. I was shocked. I came away totally unimpressed with the Mercedes its self. It was gutless, and the materials quality wasn't that wonderful. Add that to a snobby salesman, and that's a for sure NO GO. The Porsche salesman on the other hand, didn't see what we drove up in either. He was very kind, greeted each of us by smiling and shaking our hands (even though I was 15 at the time, he didn't disregard me the slightest bit). He showed both of us the Cayenne's features in detail, and displayed it's enormous braking power, even saying "you might wanna grab on to the handles for this one, folks!" WE DID. lol. Truly a great experience. I later emailed the salesman, thanking him for his generosity and being a great salesman, and for making our experience a good one. He was pleased to hear back. She ended up buying the X5 4.8is, amazing machine really. I love driving it. She purchased it from Rasmussen BMW, and sadly I didn't get to go with her on the initial test drive. I did go with her when she bought it. The salesman was very nice, and even bought me a Pepsi from the vending machine while I waited for her to sign papers. I think the representatives, the REAL PEOPLE on the front line of each auto company selling the cars makes a HUGE difference on how the company is received as a whole.
