  1. whats everyones solution been for the oddball hub nuts? Has anyone found the proper tool for cheap? I've always used a screwdriver and a hammer but it never seems to get them seated properly.
  2. Is this an idea that could work for the VG30E people? Two MPFI systems for the one engine? I dont know what I'm talking about turbo/supercharging is not something I know a lot about. Just throwing ideas out there.
  3. Exact same thing happened to me recently. I replaced the slave cylinder and bled the system. After a little test drive I thought it was good to go. Drove across the state for some rockclimbing and the clutch pedal was completely useless after about 10 mins. So then i tried replacing the master cylinder and it has worked ever since. Easy fix, $40 and probably no more than an hour.
  4. Looks a lot like the tornado thing on late night infomercials. I think both those, the thing in your link and throttle body spacers do work....kinda. You will get a more even mix of air and fuel, but 31% MPG and 30 HP is BS. Maybe 1-2% and 1-2 hp. Barely worth it.
  5. with the engine running just wiggle every wire you can find until you find the one that is the "switch" for the problem.
  6. Links to this convincing reading material? I am really skeptical of these things.
  7. Why bother? you dont really NEED 3rd gear. Good Luck
  8. cant get the video to download so i'm not real sure what it is you're talking about, but i may have a similar problem. I've noticed my front tires wear faster than the rear and they tend to chirp around corners more often than they should. I jacked up one side of my truck so one front wheel was in the air and the other firmly planted. Like this I could steer the lifted wheel a couple inches each way without the other wheel moving. The centerlink is acutally rotating so that the tie rod angles are changing allowing this to happen. Is something in my steering system worn out or is it just poor design.
  9. Be careful with the synthetics on an older engine. Sometimes because the oil is so slippery it can start leaking more than it did before.
  10. did you have the oil changed in that 6,000 mi? Oil does tend to burn off more easily as it gets older although 3 quarts is a lot. Might want to check for leaks if you havent already.
  11. alright cool. Thanks guys. I went ahead and flushed my system anyway. Probably about due for it in any case. I also checked and yeah you're right my thermo opens a little early but not enough to make me spend $20.
  12. Hey guys where does your temp gauge sit when driving around? I havent driven my Pathfinder for a while cause i've been off at UW and now that I start driving it around in the summer heat it seems to be running hot. Maybe it's my imagination though. Mine seems to be around 1/3 off the way to hot when I'm just driving around town and about right in the middle when when climbing hills or on the freeways.
  13. Just clicking when trying to start? Yeah probably the starter. When you say tapping I hope you mean hitting it good with a hammer I kept my starter going for a good 2 months by just beating it with a hammer when it didn't want to start. Another thing to try is jumping the terminals with a screwdriver. I know it works on some vehicles, but don't know about the Pathfinder. It is possible to rebuild them. You might get lucky and be able to fix it by just cleaning the brushes and other contacts inside without too much disassembly. Worst case buying a new one isn't too expensive and won't leave you stranded
  14. yeah i knew about thoes already. Should have mentioned that. I'm looking to make my own mostly cause I have no job right now, but also because making your own mod is twice as fun as having it.
  15. I took the sway bars off my pathy to see what kind of a difference it would make. Gave me a lot more articulation, but now the on-road ride feels too sloppy. Anyone ever tried to make homemade quick disconnects? Or even better had success in making their own? I was thinking on just replacing the nuts on where the bar meets that rod with wingnuts (two of them one as a jamnut). But then how do I keep the bar in place while bumping around off road? I was thinking maybe something like a gate latch? Give me any ideas you guys have. Thanks
  16. To anyone who had done the body lift on a 5 sp Pathfinder: does it make for an awkward driving position. A buddy of mine put a 3 in body lift on his toyota and now you have to really reach for the shift lever. Don't want that on my rig.
