  1. i know him, but he's just an acquaintance. that's a TX King of the Hill car. they race 1/8mi and all have to be street-legal and streetable. of course, their definition of streetable is probably a bit different than ours. the bosses just want to make sure they all have cooling systems, doors, windows, etc. some of them even have AC!

his biggest complaint is the blind spot in front of him lol

  2. i wouldn't drive 3hrs for some 16.5 MTs, unless they were nearly-new TSLs or MTRs or KM2s.

like 88path said, it's almost impossible to find a 16.5in rim on a 6x5.5 lug pattern. older chevy's ran 16.5s, but they were almost always an 8-lug. with that said, i was at the auto salvage today and saw a set of 16.5in 6-lug rims. if they didn't have so much backspacing, i would've bought them - they're that hard to find.

  3. Yeah, requirements for lighting in different countries are strange sometimes. Not one car in the US I've ever seen besides a VW Beetle or Karmann Ghia have any rear fog lights.

    actually...............

you'll notice on lots of jaguars and mercedes and bmw that they have their rear fog light on. it will look like they have a brake lamp that's stuck on.

  4. i run (2) 100W aircraft landing lights and (2) 55W Hella fog lamps through my stock fog light switch. (at 13V that's 24A of current!) i haven't melted anything yet lol. makes it hard to follow my advice when i don't follow it myself. :D

if my lights have to stay on for a sustained period, i use my roof lights - (4) 55W Hellas on two circuits, each with their own relay. come to think of it, the only real purpose my bumper lights serve me is to flash/blind the oncoming drivers with their hi-beams on...

  5. doubt it. i stuffed my 31s as deep into the fenders as possible, and the shock measured 16in eye-to-eye. stock shocks on my '00 Pathy are 14in collapsed, 24in extended. my bilsteins measure 16in collapsed, 26in extended. that means i have the same up travel, and 2in more down travel.

  6. if you're looking for spare wheels from a junkyard, you're really limited. chevy used the same bolt pattern for awhile, but the center opening is not large enough and will need to be bored out. all 6-lug nissans (hardbody, pathfinder, frontier, xterra, etc) were the same bolt pattern until 2005, though among the different models are different backspacing. the R50 runs the least backspacing so you may have fitment issues when swapping to xterra/frontier wheels. for 2005+ nissans you can use titan/armada/qx56 wheels but they will need the center opening bored out as well. toyota 6-lug, isuzu rodeo, and honda passport wheels will fit; the center opening is large enough to clear the hub.

of all the changes from the early R50s to the later models, i'm most pissed about the rear shock mounts. on early R50s they use the traditional double-shear lower mount with a 1/2in bolt. on newer models (like yours), it is a single-shear 5/8in stud, so you're very limited when it comes to off-the-shelf shock upgrades. a universal-fit shock will not work on your Pathy without custom fabrication.

the VQ35 was introduced in 2001 and it shares no parts with the VG33.

the exterior is noticeably different, but my interior (on a '00 SE) isn't much different than my '98 SE was. in fact, when i bought my '00 Pathy it came with no rear headrests, so i used the ones out of my mom's '93 Quest minivan. they fit and match perfectly. for more general parts, you may be able to cross-shop other nissans, not just pathfinders.

  7. ya, like fueler has. we're not racing so we don't need slots or cross-drilling. regardless, on lower-end products (like stuff for SUVs), they're purely for aesthetic appeal. i just want something with great stopping power and resistance to fade/warping.

my current rotors are embarrassingly warped; i think i'll be getting brembo rotors as replacements. OE rotors are expensive already, i may as well spend the extra bucks for some real quality stuff.

  8. aaahhhh I've had my fogs on for around 4 hours straight, and I'm pretty sure nothing was getting hot. I even popped the hood and checked the wiring under there. I'll prolly through in a relay just incase to save money in the long run.

it all depends on the wattage of the lamps. if they're less than 65W/ea, then you should be safe(ish).
