  1. i forgot that you had a VQ, so my prices were off. did you check rockauto.com?

also, i don't know anything about the PS pump on a VQ so it may not be the exact same; the pulley may be pressed on. the same basic principle still applies though - replace the drive shaft's front oil seal.

  2. the squeaky pulley could be your water pump. check your radiator to be sure you're not empty. if you are, the water pump will squeal from turning when it's dry.

if you really want to pinpoint the squeal, hit each pulley with some spray lubricant. when the sound goes away, you found the culprit.

  3. after i sunk my pathfinder, i had to replace my power steering pump (among many other things). i got my pump from a pick-a-part for $29 + $3 for 30-day warranty.

if you want to try to rebuild it yourself, you can get a seal kit for about $15. if it really is coming from the shaft behind the pulley, it may be an easy fix. you need to remove the pulley, remove the snap ring holding the drive shaft, then remove the shaft. there will be an oil seal there, and this would be the one leaking. if that's not the problem, the seal kit will come with all the o-rings, copper washers, and gaskets to do a full rebuild.

a remanufactured P/S pump should only cost $150, not including the reservoir. most places will charge you a hefty core charge, though, so be prepared to pay a little extra up front.

  4. So watching craigslist I found a set of new Hobrecht Nerf bars at a good price so I jumped on them... Get em home and realize they really don't fit.

I'm trying to figure out what they are supposed to fit so I can get them to someone who may use them, and hopefully get my money out of it, but all I can find on the bars is a stamp 1807P 04M94. Anyone had a similar issue in the past or know where to find a fitment for this piece? Google is of no help this time..

    Any help is appreciated.

were they designed for your truck?

  5. a roof rack doesn't affect gas mileage as much as you think. cruising at 65-70mph and not romping on the throttle will save you far more gas than not having a roof basket (compared to having one). i have 4 big roof lights and a roof basket on the top of mine, and i still managed 18.9mpg throughout an entire tank of gas (all highway driving), in my '00 SE with 4.6s.

if you shop around, you can find a used or custom roof basket for ~$100, but that's almost being too optimistic. expect to spend anywhere from $200-500 on a new one.

there are quite a few members on this forum that use the Dueler A/T Revo and they can't say enough good things about them.

the AC springs are almost your only option to replace your worn out coils, other than replacing with new OE coils. the other option is the OME coil. the AC coils generally lift the front end 2-3in and the OME coils about 1-2in. manual locking hubs are recommended to reduce wear/tear on your CV axles, but are not required.

if your lower ball joints were bad, you'd experience more symptoms than just a pop under initial braking. it could be your strut mount (though you'd also hear a noise going over bumps), control arm bushings, sway bar bushing, sway bar end link, etc. or it could be that flashlight under your seat rolling forward and hitting the frame. ;)

  6. I have another question regarding this now... My main headlight switch clip was broken so it never staid in it's little socket. So I bough another switch and threw the original away... oh for stupid ideas. Anyway, the original switch had two prongs on the back. My new one has three; earth, relay and power. Given the original switch was 2 pronged, it has two wires; a light blue and a black with blue line. So my question is: which one is power, which one is earth? Also, what do I need to do to make the two wires fit the three pronged switch?

    Thanks all!

    Harv.

just ignore the third prong (ground) on your new switch. your circuit has its own ground so you don't need to ground the switch. to check which wire is which, you can use your voltmeter and check for voltage at each wire. your supply/power will have ~12V; your load side will have continuity to ground.

  7. yes, those are the new recovery points. they hang down pretty low, and are always hitting the rocks. but they're pretty stout and have withstood a lot of abuse and a few hard yanks. :)

is that your pathy in the pic? got any better pics?

  8. just keep us updated. I'll gladly throw in another $20 this month if needed. I'm not so cheap or naive to think this forum wouldn't benefit from a little extra help. :)

hoping to see the changeover soon to the new forum software!

  9. i don't believe i would spend $120/yr on the forum...just being honest...

nobody asked you to. this is a great resource for anything pathfinder and if this is what it takes to keep it alive and growing and improving, then I'm not going to cheap out... just bring honest.

  10. I just don't understand why everyone is so against a monthly subscription. $5/mo is nothing. I don't need benefits or perks or anything; just an automated monthly deduction from my PayPal account. the cash flow is constant and I'm only 2 big mac's less each month.

if anything, I think the option should be available to myself and any other that likes this idea.

  11. i don't live too far from Huntsville, TX. i'm not surprised that this happened there; i am surprised that he didn't shoot them then and there.

if my dog was shot, and i knew they did it, i'd shoot them. then i'd tell the cops it was self-defense after i watched them kill my dog. gotta love texas gun laws. :D
