  1. Allright, so i'm close to getting the lift package from AC and I was thinking about throwing in a skid plate package so I can get this whole thing out of the way with one swoop. I was wondering who has the skid plate package from AC and what they think about it. Is it standing up well to some abuse, is it rusting, just what they think about it. Thanks
  2. I really hope that's not the problem, but none the less the truck is going to Aamco next week so we'll see.
  3. I checked all the fuses under the hood and the spot next to the steering wheel... any others I am missing?
  4. I did the self diagnostic check today and the truck's telling me that nothings wrong. The light blinked 10 times and they were all only one second. So I really don't get it.
  5. ok, so here's where I'm at right now: I tried the battery trick a few times and that didn't solve anything, it cleared the check engine light for the o2 sensors but the tranny stayed the same. I am almost 100% sure that it is in limp mode, it's in 3rd gear no matter what I do. So then I tried what the service manual said, turn the ignition to on, then off for 5 seconds and then back to on, and in theory that is supposed to reset the tranny.... which it didn't. So I don't get it, are there more steps involved that I'm not doing? Reverse still works fine, and if it had shifted into gear when I screwed up then shouldn't reverse be the most f**ked up gear in the truck?
  6. ok, so i''m om the highway and me friend shifts the truck into neutral and I thought it was second so I accidentaly shifted it into reverse at 65-70 and now the truck won't shift into first, is there anything I can do to fix this?
  7. Yeah, another thing I found out this weekend is that logging roads are considered class 6 roads, and are completely legal to drive on without any type of permission. Just thought I would share that, lol
  8. I kinda think that taking your time when you need to is a key thing. I know a lot of people with trucks that have better tires, lifts and all sorts of upgrades that have problems on trails that I can do in my stock R50. The truck is only as good as the driver...
  9. There are a bunch in brookline, milford and mason but none of them are really marked.. They are really just old quarry/logging trails so just look around on old side-roads and you'll find some. BTW, power line trails are all over the place here, there hard (very large rocks) but fun!
  10. Yeah, the AC skids are a good deal, there not aluminum (3/16 steel powder coated black) but there pretty high quality and bolt right on.
  11. I have a 97 Pathfinder LE, and it's got all the on-road luxuries, like leather, heated seats, pretty quiet ride, sun roof, and off road it preforms very well. Stock it's a very nice truck, and I have had it for allmost two years and have had no major problems with it. Quality truck and it preforms well.
  12. Yeah, I'm just glad I didn't have to leave my pathy all alone for the night. Nice truck though abomb1.
  13. I have Michelin Cross countrys in the stock size and they do great on snowy roads, great on dirt trails, not so great in mud or deep snow on trails... But if you want a not too exspensive tire that has good tread life and is good for occasional offroading, there hard to beat.
  14. yeah, AC has a 3/16 front skid plate to replace the splash guard, it's bolt on and it's a fair price
  15. Umm, i actually don't know what size the tires are, I know there stock so yeah. Everything's fine, the foreward part of the splash guard got ripped off, but what ever; it's just plastic. The ground under the trail was all frozen and icy, and at the end of the trail it was all mud and water.
  16. Can you fit BFG 32" ATs 10.5 wide on stock 97 LE rims? I'm getting a lift but will the tire fit on the rims, and not rub on anything else?
  17. That looks really nice dude, not a bad price to have it custom fabd and installed!
  18. Here's a pic of the trail, those ruts are from my truck. Keep in mind that I haven't lifted my truck yet so it was a little more than the pathy could handle, LOL. That's the jeep that spent two nights out there, but we did get it out today, little sand, some muscle and some creative maneuvering fixed the problem.
  19. Sorry, I didn't bring the camera, and I'm kicking my self that I didn't even take a picture with my phone while it was still light out. Next time though...... when the snow melts!
  20. Yeah, so I got the bright idea that it would be a fun to hit up one of my favorite trails, and it turned out to be a bad decision. So I pull up to the trail head, and find a huge snow bank, but instead of turning around I figured that since we have gotten a bunch of rain in the past couple days that the trail woulden't have too much snow on it. So I went off the trail a bit into the woods and got back on the trail once I got around the snow bank and continued down the path. There was about 4 inches of slushy, wet snow ontop of ice, so it wasn't too bad, but about 10 mins of going down hill I slid off the trail and the left side of my truck sunk into about 2 feet of snow/mud. I messed around for a bit and then started calling people. I ended up getting hold of one of my buddies who has a jeep and he came down after about an hour of me waiting. When he pulled up his truck did the same thing mine did about 10 feet from me. So two vehicles down, and I'm still stuck. Luckily he had a tractor and his house wasn't too far away (like 5 mins from the trail head), so we hiked up to his house, got the tractor running and started down the trail again, and as soon as we rounded a corner and saw both of our trucks, the radiator hose on the tractor blows! To keep you up to date we now have three trucks stuck or broken in the woods. So I started calling people again, and got another one of my buddies to come and help. So another hour goes by and we meet him at the end of the trail (the trail is a logging road, so it has an entrance and an exit) and started digging away at the snow bank at the bottom. So this kid has a lifted 1500, with not too bad tires so we figured that if he could make it up the hill a bit (about 1000 yards from the end is where all of out trucks are) then maby he could just yank my truck out, and this whole problem would be over. Well, that also didn't really work, because about 50 feet up the trail his truck sank into 2-3 feet of snow/mud/water, but thankfully he was close enough to the road, so another gut he brought along was able to pull him out. So we called a few more people and got about 10 guys there with the hopes that we could some how push my truck back onto the trail, and I could build up some momentum for the end of the trail and make it back onto the road. So I started this whole ordeal at about 4 pm and it's now 7, my clothes are soaking, it dark, and I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that I might have to leave my truck here over night and try again tomarrow. In one last attempt to puch the truck to freedom, we were able to get the truck out of the rut, and back onto the trail!!!!!! I didn't stop the rest of the way down, and I bombed throught the deep @!*% (some how) at the end of the trail. I did however rip off my splash guard in the process (plastic???wtf). We gave a half-hearted attempt at getting the jeep un-stuck, but the jeep just couldn't handle it (LOL). So what lesson did I learn? Well, offroading in deep snow isn't for me! Was not a fun experience, and tomarrow I still have to go and rescue the jeep, which is spending the night, and then we need to dig the tractor out, put a new hose in, and pray to got it works(it took about half an hour to get it started in the first place). So what have you guys been up to this weekend?
  21. A bunch of good advice here guys, thanks. So I just bought a impact wrench and am learning hor to use it, lots o fun, and I have a buddy that is an actual mechanic so he is going to give a hand with the front end. I agree that the compression of the coils would probably result in me loosing a arm and a hole in my fender if I did it alone, LOL. So i'm waiting for my tax return and then I'll be ordering the shocks and what not. Thanks
  22. Thanks for the input, I will definitly get the second compressor type, I will also post a bunch on pics when I get started. It will probably be in about three weeks, I need to get a bunch of stuff ordered first.
  23. So my drivers side strut is on it's way out so I think that it's time for the AC lift to happen. I was planning on getting the AC lift with the bilstein shocks and the GR2 struts. I was also going to get this spring compressor, and I was wondering if you guys think that I will run into any difficult snags while installing the lift? I have done some other minor matinence on my car, but this will be the first major project that I will do on my truck. And advice or input would be much appreciated.
  24. I ran mine down the driver's side a pillar underneath the gutter, it has quite a bit of space under the rubber. Worked for me, no drilling required.
  25. I have a 97 LE, black, and I love it. I found this place about a year ago when I first started offroading, and have been lurking around since then. I LOVE the truck, and I have started upgrading her. I have high flow headers, K&N filter, optima battery, custom light bar on the roof with two Hella 500s, amd I have started a couple other projects on her. I just finished some designs for a custom bumper, and I am working on getting a 2" AC lift with 32" BFG ATs. The truck is really great, 103000 miles and i have had it for two years with no real big problems. I hope I can help anyone here out with some advice, and I will post some pictures of projects when they really start to take shape.
