  1. I called Energy Suspension about my mis-shipped bushings. The retailer blames ES; ES blames the retailer. I'm in the middle.

     

    They conceded to send me my swaybar kit straight from the factory though, so I'm happy. So happy in fact, that I'm not going to push the fact that it really was Energy Suspension's fault. They put the wrong part in the box. :stickwack:

     

     

    Double plus - Now I have a spare set of compression rod bushings! Yay! :jig:

  2. Just get the tranny number from the FSM and match it. The V6 uses an RE4R01A (that's the same as the KA24DE 240sx). The I4 uses the RL4R01A.

     

     

    I've really been wondering about the Diesel Terrano's transmissions. Particularly the R51 turbos.

    If you're gonna go crazy, find one of these and forget about gasoline.

  3. Yep, stick to whatever you can find from the JY. I recommend something from a pre-90's land yacht.

    The Hellas look cool and I got a deal on them, but they aren't an improvement.

     

    Personally, I won't buy this style of horn again. The disks tend to freeze in the winter, then you're left with no horn until they thaw... maybe.

    I'm sure this is less of a problem with a bumper, or by relocating to the engine bay, but I doubt it would ever be an issue with the shell type.

  4. I have seen a pathfinder with lambo doors before, I am sure somewhere there is a pathfider with a huge ass spoiler wing on the back of it.

     

    Sure. You can stuff a 351 into a pinto or make a monster truck out of a 59 El Dorado too. Some mods are left to those crazy death-wish types.

    A Pathy with Vtec, Lambo's and a Shogun spoiler would be way too fast and furious for a normal person to control.

  5. Yes. You can order one from +\%28wd21&cPath=5572_5573_5640_5657"]Courtesy Nissan of Texas, but you'll need to match the gear to your model and/or tire size.

     

    To sum it up:

    I used a 20 tooth gear, as that's what was noted as required for my XE. However, it might have been a better idea to buy the 19 tooth as it may provide more accurate readings due to my over-sized tires.

     

    18 tooth is also available, but others have had problems with it engaging in the transfer case.

    There is one trick I have seen before on older GM meters when they get old, try this one yours, hit the trip reset a few times while driving, it may be slightly hung up and reseting it may free the gears.

    It ended up coming on on it's own the next day when my wife took the truck to work. Kinda freaky, but hey, I'm easy to please. Whats a few more unaccounted miles?

     

    It would be nice if someone would do the math and figure out custom gears for bigger tires like the Jeep boys have. I think we're destined to settle with "close enough".

  7. Look and ask around, depends on what you want. I have ordered some stuff from MSC as the most available/cheapest/fastest and other times gone to local salvage yards and buy steel at scrap rate. I don't believe ther is a fixed source considering the local possibilities.

    I completely agree, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, asking around hasn't netted any decent results, so I'm looking for ideas on where to expand my search. I've tried the local welding shops, but their prices are nuts and I don't think any of these yokels can read a drawing or figure out what those little marks on a tape measure are for.

     

    I want a $h!tload of cheap metal for which to build parts out of.... and then I want a CNC lathe that can cut Inconel. ;)

  9. I've been considering something similar by attaching the lower plastic assembly and arm rest to a sheet of aluminum.

    No more stained upholstery no more soggy ripped paperboard.

     

    TerranoNZ replaced his will aluminum, but I can't find the pics now.
