  1. Rear locker? It will do some crazy swerving, at least mine does.
  2. I've done the swap. You sound like you have everything you need, no special tools involved (except the clutch alignment tool which usually comes in the kit). Differentials have nothing to do with the transmission, don't worry about them. Feel free to ask me anything. Helpful hint: Fill with oil through the hole for your shifter, it's a lot easier then through the fill port. P.S It's a heavy beast, get help. I did not have any, so you can do it by yourself, but I don't recommend it.
  3. Where does that giant windmill fit? I'm guessing it has to fold up somehow.
  4. Place a long bar on top of your tire and get a friend (in my case it was a lawn mower) to push and hold it down. I had enough room to wiggle it out and the new one in this way. It should work better with a high lift than a floor jack cause you can get it higher. Of course all of this was concocted in my Polish head so........
  5. Clean doesn't begin to describe that thing. Price seems good to me!

    transmission swap

Uhhhhh, I just noticed the pilot convertor thing. I didn't know about this and I don't think I removed it!!!!! The truck drives perfect though and the flywheel mounted (I thought) normally. Now I'm going to have bad dreams tonight!!!!

    transmission swap

I just did this. Donor was a 90 into a 95. I kept the 90 transfer case, because I read somewhere that it was a heavy duty one compared to others?( feel free to chime in here) I, of course, forgot to get the speedo cable from the donor so I have no idea how fast I'm going. Actually I use a GPS to tell me, but some day i will get a cable. Hey, that leads me to a question.....Will a cable connect to mine, meaning the speedo dial on the dash?
  9. Holy crap an air pocket!!!!! I had this same problem and I swapped my whole tranny out for a manual one. Oh well.
  10. Whats the biggest tire I can fit under my Pathfinder. I have a 2" suspension lift and a........
  11. Actually I meant I welded the pipe and the floor back together. That was a while ago. I'm in the process of a transmission swap from auto to manual and have all new pipes to go in.
  12. My entire truck filled with smoke from this exact same problem. It was while I was doing 70 on the freeway. Lots of swerving, smoke billowing out the windows, I finally got to the shoulder. Luckily I thought to bring a fire extinguisher on this trip (the carpet was fully in flames). The cops showed up, fire trucks were called, but I had it out before any real damage. Then just like any Pathfinder owner would do, I drove it another 200 miles home. I welded it shut after that.

  14. Ours doesn't have any scrubber system...can you say closed by 2016!
  15. Power Plant Operator a.k.a Homer Simpson
  16. I actually cut off the bottom of those rear panels. I didn't even think to look inside, and yes they got all rusted. I had a loud buzzing from my speakers and my rear wiper would blow a fuse. I ended up getting the entire harness at the junkyard. There are so many on this harness: speakers, cruise control, fuel pump, wiper, stoplights, auto trans computer, just to name a few. Yours doesn't sound as bad as mine though. Good luck!
  17. Some have 31's on them stock. Mine did. Bundy Hill is awesome ( see my signature pic.) It's huge. There is a place off Airport Highway down in Toledo that is kind of fun. I'm in the process of swapping transmissions due to the auto one dying. It will probably be more towards spring, cause it's cold. Rocks and Valleys up by OldSlowReliable is a great place to go too. Good to see another Michigander on here.
  18. MONROE! I'm just south of you in Lambertville. Welcome!! Once you get it all set up, we'll do some wheeling.
  19. The great State of MI: Bundy Hill Off-road (see picture below) The Mounds Turtle ridge Rocks and Valleys Twisted Trails Off-road Park OSTC Silver Lake Sand Dunes Not to mention all of the State land trails for off-road use.
  20. I just dropped the manual tranny in my parts truck, to replace the dead auto in my other one.I didn't loosen the front diff at all and I didn't remove the torsion bar cross member. I took all the bolts out (took the tension off the bars)and just wedged it in a lower position. Pulled the tranny back a little dropped the front and then pushed it forward to drop the back. I did all this with a floor jack, no adapters. I won't lie it was a pain but not impossible, as I had never done anything like this before. I think it was harder getting that clutch pedal out from under the dash. It will all be worth it in the end though. Good luck. Now if I only had time to drop the auto to do that swap.... Any questions just ask.
  21. I am also in MI, welcome to the site. There is so much info on here it's insane. I actually bought my Pathfinder in Fenton at some small used car lot. I used to work at the TRW plant out there, now I'm way down in SE MI. Get it fixed up and we'll plan a trip with Old Slow and head up to R&V and try to break something. Oh wait thats right I have to do a tranny swap cause my Auto decided to not shift past 2nd anymore. Well anyways have fun with it, I know I have.
