  1. I got in an accident a couple months ago, and my front bumper, as well as the bumper covers are definitely messed up, and the bumper punctured the coolant overflow tank.

So I actually have two questions...

    1. Where is the best place to buy the parts online? All of my parts are just the plain black, no chrome.

    2. Do you guys think I should replace anything else? I was going to get a bumper retainer as well since it looks like it sits right where the impact was.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  2. Bends do create turbulence, but how the 4" tubing with two 90 degree bends in it compares with a straight 3" pipe, i have no idea...

well hopefully the local autozone has a straight pipe that will fit, if not im gonna have to go with the weaponR intake

  3. Hey Michigan, that link is for JUST a filter!

I think thats all the pop charger is, if you go to the manufacturers website...

ive been interested in this also, so let me get the options straight

weaponR intakes for 97-99 - $140-200 (two diff. kinds)

ebay for xterra - $90 on ebay

popcharger from mfr on courtesy parts - $150

ricer parts and k&n filter from autoxon - $70ish?

    are there any others?

  4. Keep in mind guys, most new 4x4 (the yuppie ones) have push button 4wheel drive. It can be quite intimidating for someone to try and drive our dinosour 4X4's.

Sometimes the easiest things can dumbfound the smartest people. I think we should keep our judgments off the forums.

    Mark

yea but you gotta love having the shifter there, i feel badass when someone asks what its for, they always think that it means my 4wd is better...

and in case this happens to you as well, if you push it back up into 2hi but the light stays on, just cut the wheels and move a little bit and 2wd should disengage, it just needs a little push first...also, if your in N, if you shift into 4hi or 4lo you will hear a grind, you only dont get the grind if you go from 4lo-4hi or reverse in one smooth action...and yes you have to push straight down on the shifter to go into neutral, i had trouble with it at first too

  5. I had a 75 trailduster that would plow through/over anything including small trees but it was a PITA if you got it in a tight spot...short bed reg cab chevy is pretty capable and a buddy of mine had something like an early 90's blazer (not the lil one but not the k5) that did pretty good he had a 3" body and I think 33's on it...and finally another buddy had a k5 diesel that seemed to refuse to get stuck

I have driven a reg cab tacoma with street tires offroad and it seemed to handle pretty good...a lil stiffer ride than the pathy IMO but I have been eying those for a while b/c I really need a truck to throw crap in the back but then again I'd rather get an old cummins and pull the 87 around here and there and get some good use out of her...

boo on cummins...yay for powerstroke...ive never even seen what is useful about those trucks...oh wow you can make it sound like a big rig, but hold on, its not, so what is the point?

  6. Thanks guys...hope i can put in some useful info after not too long...any questions about a 163 M class or a 5th gen accord Im a genius...

i will be spending prob a good 10-12 hrs on the pathfinder to get to know it better the first couple days im back on break, got a list of things i need to do

    1. Replace HORRIBLE zip boots from 4x4parts.com with oem style ones

    2. Fix w/e is clunking in the steering

    3. Replace all bushing in rear suspension

    4. Replace bumper and bumper caps, and coolant overflow tank

    5. Find out what the hell is making the rattle right behind my sunroof (its driving me freaking crazy)

    6. drain ALL fluids and replace

then after xmas i get to...

    1. install grill guard with off road lights (gonna wire them so they come on with parking lights)

    2. Install taillight guards

  7. HI there, welcome to NPORA...

Ask around about the Warn hubs fitting those wheels... you may not have to replace them. I cant think of anyone off hand who runs those wheels with the Warn hubs, but that doesn't mean it cant be done.

I actually meant after the lift when i put on bigger tires...ive been on nissanforums.com for a month or two now and ive read on this one a lot but just now joined

  8. Having owned one i can verify that the w163 M class mercedes were all very capable off road...full time 4wd, not awd, with lowrange capability...some guys custom fabbed some body lifts and raised the front via torsion bar to even it up, the smallest width tire they had were 8.5 inches. Now its not a hardcore trailrider, but pretty much anything you would do in an R50 you could do in a w163

go to benzworld.org and check out the 163 forum, its actually something a lot of those users are into

  9. 50k? I would go right to the Mercedes Dealer and tell them to find me an 02 ML 55 (which go for around 25k now), put the kleemann supercharger on it (15k), and save the rest for repairs (needed for these vehicles) and watch all of your 350Z's and such in my rearview mirror, then go hit the trails

  10. my 97 SE came with the rear spare tire carrier...it mounts to the body above and below the right taillight, and it has a locking mechanism at the bottom of the rear door. Also, the liscence plate is moved to the left side of the rear hatch with a black plastic assembly to hold it mounting to the door

  11. Whats up everyone? My name is Mike, im a civil engineering student at University of Maryland at College Park. My previous vehicles were a 1999 Mercedes ML 320 and a 1996 Honda Accord LX 2.2L. My mods to the previous vehicles were:

    Mercedes:

    Updated projector headlights

    Projector fog lights

    Chrome grill strips

    Honda:

    JDM fog lights

front and rear strut tower bars

    SRI intake

17x7 ADR Venomous rims with Nankang NS-1 tires

Wiring trick with the turn signals in the bumper using civic sockets so I could have them on low power all the time and maintain my bright turn signal

I sold the Mercedes because it started having some problems at 230k on the odo and bein a college student I couldnt afford to keep repairing it, so I went back and started modding my original car, the Accord. Now that was stolen almost two months ago, which led me to the Pathfinder.

My pathfinder is a 1997 SE with the optional leather, bose sound system, sunroof, and the limited slip rear diff. So far, I put on the clear front bumper turn signals, and a Ravens spare tire cover on the rear mount spare. This pathfinder came with the bug guard, the sunroof wind deflector, and the rear wind deflector. My plans for this truck are a grill guard (remove the bug guard), off road lights in there, taillight guards, weaponR SRI, possibly a suspension lift with the Warn manual hubs, but i really like the look of the stock wheels and dont want to buy new wheels.

That has pics of all three, including before and afters for both the accord an mercedes...and the aftermath of the accord being stolen
