I'm putting a new axle w/ electric brakes on my ATV trailer (used to haul my ATVs that is). In order for them to work I need to install a brake controller in my 2003 Pathfinder. Can anyone tell me how hard (or easy) it is to install a brake controller in my vehicle? Thanks! jim

I replaced the factory plastic parts about four times before I decided to find a better solution. I used two split rings (metal). I threaded the first ring to the second ring and then one end to the lock and one end to the lock cylinder. I don't think they'll ever die.

In my experience vibrations that occur between 55 and 65 are almost always a rear-wheels balancing problem. I'd take it back to where they were balanced, explain the problem, and ask them to check the balance again. I've never had a shop deny that service and it has almost always corrected the problem. Can anyone tell me what the steps are to change transmission fluid in a 2003 SE Pathfinder (Automatic)? I did a search and didn't get any results that answered the question. Does this tranny have a filter? Anything special that needs to be done, or any special tools required? I assume the necessary fluid is listed in the owner's manual. Any other suggestions? I bought adjustable shocks from my local Nissan dealer and the price was quite reasonable (about $100 for all four shocks if my memory is right). My ride is an '89 Pathfinder SE. There are probably some better "aftermarket" shocks available, but the stock Nissan ones meet all my needs. I think the electric connector just operates a small solenoid to increase or decrease shock damping. Good luck, jim

Take a look at the Air Lift products too. I just bought a set for my '03 SE to help level the load when I'm pulling a trailer. They claim it adds up to 1,000 lbs, capacity. Haven't installed them yet but I'm expecting good things from them. My set was $69 from Summit Racing (I didn't get the compressor model as I have a portable, 12 volt compressor I can take with me). just a thought. jim

Does anyone know who actually manufactures "crazy carpet"? I've tried to find a name through "Google" but nothing is showing up. Any help would be appreciated. jim

The Kid's "Crazy Carpet" sounds like a good possibility. I'll stop by Wally World tonight and see if they have it, or something like it. If I can't find anything, I might be interested in the ones from the "88. Thanks all. Good info here. jim

My 89 SE Pathfinder had two pieces of flexible material that went between the wheel well and the engine compartment (one piece on each side of the vehicle). The material feels like a cross between paperboard and rubber. It's somewhat flexible and yet strong enough to withstand the stresses of riding in the wheel wells. I want to replace it, but the dealer wants $52.00 each for them and that seems a little high to me (like about $40.00 each too high). Has anybody found a substitute for these factory skirts (or whatever they're called)? I was thinking about cutting them out of some inner tubes but I don't think that would last very long (inner tubes seem to be junk anymore). Anyway, I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have. I have an '89 Pathfinder SE V6 that is in need of some replacement fuel line. Since it's an injected engine, NAPA told me it needs "injected" fuel line. I cut a small piece off and took it in to NAPA with me. By looking at it it appears that 1/4" is too small ans 5/16" is too large. I'm guessing (with the help of a micrometer) that what I need is 8mm (metric) injected fuel line. My dealer doesn't carry it ("We just run out to NAPA and buy it"); NAPA doesn't carry metric sizes (at least not in the town I live in) and there aren't any foreign car parts places around here. The first dealer couldn't even tell me what size fuel line I need. Second dealer asked for a VIN to figure it out (I haven't gotten back to him yet. Nissan National Customer Service said, "We don't offer tech support, we rely on our dealers to do that.") That doesn't make a four-Nissan vehicles owner real happy, especially when the dealer can't tell me what size line I need. Anyone actuall know what size the fuel line is and where I might be able to get it? Thanks all. jim

How do you know if your truck has the filter or not? I bought mine used (a 2003 SE) but never saw the original "sticker." Thanks, jim
