  1. Thanks NissanNut.

Have you thought how you are going to mount the front bar work yet? This is where I am most interested.

When I was thinking of re-doing my one. I thought of coming off the chassis rails as per usual with an extra brace going back in to where the bumper irons were connected on to as well.

What size winch are you planning on putting in there?

Similar to the D21 version. :clickdalink:http://nissannut.com/projects/D21_winch_bumper

Except the approach angle will be WAY better. Same as stock.

There will be a hidden hitch connecting the side brackets together. The D21 uses the hitch for a license plate brakcet, but its part of the spring hanger. Also OEM frame and lower 4 frame bolts will be used, 8 total.

This will bumper will hold the following:

    2 6" lights,

    licens plate

8k+ winch - warn or milemarker

    2 driving lights

    2" hitch

    2 d Ring mounts

winch solenoid - dont like big box exposed

winch remote plug - because box is hidden

    2 turn signals.

Still shopping for a winch. Happy with the MM8k. I have used 10 times with no issues. I keep hearing the Warn is faster, etc. So I want to try something else. Any series wound winch basically.

  2. No assist. Its stock steering box with DOM style steering. Both my rigs have solid axles. I noticed a while ago my buddys 94 has much better steering than my 93 or 92. I found out that in 94 the flow increased. Not sure on pressure yet.

I have modified a flow valve. Just need to install and test. Also need to install the 94 valve in one of mine.

I ll do a complete writeup when done.

  3. When I installed my ARB I bought about 70 bucks in shims. I bought the size that were in there and 2 sizes up and 2 sizes down. I did this cause I was also replacing All the bearings and wanted to make sure I had all the shims to do it right. It was the pinion shims that broke the bank. So I have a bunch of extra factory shims That I will never use.

You should not need to adjust pinion depth when replacing a carrier. Most gear installs you can reuse the same shims.

  4. Nissan nut,

How did you know what size thrust washers to use? I thought they come in many sizes. Maybe I'm wrong.

    Thanks,

    Doug

There is a procedure in the FSM to find out which thickness you need. I just guessed and ordered the middle size. Worked perfect. 100% differrence. I could not unlock lockright on the bench or vehicle until i put in the new washers. I took it in/out a few times trying different things. I kept breaking those pins. This was my 5th lock right install. Never had this issue before. I currently have a lock right in each front dana 44. I had one in the rear of the pathy.

The washers are $11 each. You need 2.

  5. 88, how long did that take to correct itself? I will give it more time and see if it gets better.

5523, I think I got all the springs installed correctly. I didn't change the backlash, but did not check to see if it was right either. I ahd to buy a used third member from a junkyard because mine was a LSD. I don't know how good the one I bought was, so I'll check it when I take everything apart again.

    Thanks for your help.

    Doug

try new thrust washers, I had the same issue.

  6. I just added lights to my pathy. I decided to take this mod to the next level. I love the stock style antenna. So I found a universla antenna similar style ($10). And squeezed it in behind the light. IT FITS fine. I did more work to get that cheezy black rubber one on the D21.

I forget to mention I used a generic 1/2 hole tab for the washer this time.

  8. that is pretty crazy the difference the solid axle makes. you can really see it when you compare trailchasers truck and this one on those nice orange rocks. no offence dave! i really like your truck too!

can you do a little write up oe post a link of what you've done to the front end?

  11. Good to see ya in the Pathy world, man. Welcome! Nice setup on the front end fix!

Thats funny. I bought the pathy for serious trail use and daily driver. So I never tested the 4wd. Just cut it off. Ironically I do like IFS though. My Quest is 4wheel IFS its perfect for the application.
