ill get a pic of it today it"s in an awkward place, the wheel well has weird bends in it which would make it difficult to weld

That aiv box is really stupid, i heard allot of people's pathys have rusted in that area, also what causes the aiv box to rust so badly.

I have a 88 pathy and where the aiv box used to go,there is a hole in the wheel well on the left side about 3 in. in diameter, can you replace the wheel well or just weld but im thinking it will be expensive to weld because of space limitation under the hood and all the wires in the way that cant be moved. all help will be appreciated.

Did you say yours was a l4 or v6, because mine is the v6 don't know if theres any difference in the dizzy alignment between the two.

i still haven't figured it out i checked the gear in the trans. it looks to be fine no wear.

yeah its wierd it says on a 4 mile road that i went 20 miles going to and coming back so its off about ten miles and someone told me that there pathy had then in kph

Mine was doing the same thing, it turned out to be the timing, pulled the dizzy and lined it up correctly. Tons more power it a manual and it hauls ass now.

i don't know im starting to think the speed is wrong too, how would you tell?

My speedometer on my 88 vg30i pathy is wrong,on a road thats about 4 to 5miles it will read 20 miles. what is going on? and it has the original size of tires.

i noticed every time i filled it up with 5 gallons the tank was empty the gas gauge never got past the E on empty and yes every time i ran it dry. so that must be whats going on is at the bottom of the tank it's keeping 3-4 gallons untouched by the pump every time i put gas in it. i guess i fill it all the way up and see how the mileage is then.

i don't drive it around town anymore,since it ran out of gas. i have a 6 acre field i drive it around to haul stuff around my property.would not driving it long distances cause this bad of gas mileage?

Theres no cel or codes and the tank is absolutely dry no leaks,and it runs very good but when first started it smells like raw gas but goes away after getting warmed up.No smoke.but in first gear when you first take off sometimes it tries to die like your not giving it enough gas is this normal.but other than that you can in the other gears almost burn the tires bald. could timing off be causing this? also i let it idle 10 min at most. thanks for all the help.

My 88 pathy has been sitting for a while now because it had ran out of gas and yesterday i filled it up,with 5 gallons just to get it started and running well turns out the pathy is getting worse gas mileage than an RV. On 5 gallons it went 13 miles on all of the 5 gallons of gas.wtf is going on? what would cause this.any help is appreciated

i wonder if somehow pathys without the rear air could pull tubing from one that does and get rear air.or maybe retrofit one?

i'd like to see pics too, mine doesen't have them wish it did.But my 84 volvo DL840 has them under the front seats,that would be cool for our pathys to have vents too.

is it under both front seats or one and is it easy to locate.

i was wondering does the 88 pathy have rear air under the front seats.

Did an oil change today changed from Quaker state to castrol GTX high mileage and it's running really smooth and quietly.The bottle said for vehicles over 75,000 and mines at 77,945 for an 88 pathy, So decided time to change to high mileage oil.Also had a very hard time of getting the oil filter off you have to get it through the engine compartment and not under it.But over all this oil is very good oil for now at least.......

thanks for the help i just changed the spark plug wires that helped tremendously.also the pathy has low mileage because it was some guys second car and didn't hardly get driven at all.

i don't know what could cause it, i don't think its caused by the switch, don't really need it though
