  1. Here is a comparison shot of my old and new spark plugs: Old - BKR5ES (NGK Standard) New - BKR5EIX (NGK Iridium IX) Just got done changing all 6 of them and can notice a slight difference in pickup. This was the first time I changed the plugs since I bought the truck in June, and I never knew if the original owner had done a tune-up recently. But now I know he hadn't!
  2. yeah, I've heard of guys videotaping themselves when undertaking such a project, so if they forget where a part goes they just look at the video and see where they got it from. Also another question: when you install cams such as these and other deep-engine mods in particular, wouldn't you have to modify your cooling system a bit to fight back the extra heat that is created when your engine runs 25hp more? I mean, if these performance cams are everything they are talked up to be, surely the Nissan engineers would have already put them in the stock engine. but they're not, so there must be a reason, right? I already know that Electric fans* and 8mm plug wires** are gimmicks. However, I'm not saying that performance cams are, either. but surely they can't be good for your engine if such a thing wasn't already in the engine. Do they use a special new lobe-grinding technology or something? * - http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/efanmyth.htm ** - http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/tech_support/...ets/faqs/mm.asp
  3. do you live up north? the salty snow during winter will eat away at the underside of your car if you don't keep it rinsed off. I live in alabama, and I bought my Pathfinder from a guy from Connecticut. not surprisingly, the first thing I did when I got it was examine the bottom for rust. the rear underside was pretty bad. but now it looks great. I sanded down the parts that weren't annihilated by rust, then sprayed black shiny Rust-oleum on them. pretty nifty i think!! Anyway, here is a good link to a full, detailed suspension replacement on a 1993 Pathfinder SE: http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/november03/pathfinder/
  4. I know what a camshaft is and does, but I would be too scared to take apart my engine like that. I have a mechanic's knowledge of about 4 on a scale of 1-10. how difficult would you say such a project would be for me?
  5. i searched Bilstein's site and apparently they doesn't make shocks for your year pathfinder (assuming it's 96-04)
  6. My antenna is broken off and every time I turn off the Pathy with the radio on, the antenna motor makes this horrible grinding noise. It's trying to pull in the antenna but since it's broken, it doesn't go in. My simple question: which fuse would I pull to keep the antenna from trying to go down and where is it? Thanks!
  7. yeah i have some extra tubing but the stock one is still pretty much the same diameter, and lets the same amount of air through. if I replaced the stock tubing with aftermarket it wouldn't make a difference
  8. Here are pictures of my new air intake setup in my 1996 Pathfinder. What I first did was remove the bendable rubber section of the tubing (seen in the bottom center portion of the "Before" picture). In its place I connected the MAF sensor section using a gray silicone coupler. Next, I bolted an adaptor (found at Pep Boys, Auto Zone, etc) onto the MAF sensor. Finally, using another coupler I connected the air filter onto the adaptor. Mine happens to be a Weapon-R filter, but you can use a K&N or whatever you want. Also, regarding the small vacuum hose that plugs into the side of the airbox: I simply went to Pep Boys, bought an in-line air filter and stuck the hose into that, then zip-tied it to the carbon canister (it's the small white mini-filter near the top center portion of the "After" picture). Before: After: Is this system any good? Unfortunately, not one intake manufacturer makes intake systems for a 1996 Pathfinder, so short of having something custom built I had to use what I had. Weapon-R says they make intake systems for my car, but when I ordered mine and it came in the mail, I found out the POS they call an air intake didn't even fit!!! I still was able to use the silicone couplers, MAF sensor adaptor and the filter from them though.
  9. haha, these kinds of claims are what makes me want to get an intake. Not because I actually believe that it will give you an extra 14 hp, but rather I wanna see how much these guys are BS'ing
  10. OK, the link works now. I had typed ".html" instead of ".htm" A lot of people here want to convert their Pathy's engine-powered fan into a battery-powered fan claiming that it will free up some HP from the engine. I am no expert but before I saw this article I was very very close to putting one in myself. But now I'm not.
  11. very very convincing article on e-fans and why they are not what they are talked up to be: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/efanmyth.htm
  12. I have clocked my gas mileage to be 16.5 miles to the gallon, before an intake. About how much of an improvement from that can I expect?
  13. You mean you had a Weapon-R intake installed on all those cars? Or just an intake in general? Also, why did you return the one for your tacoma?
  14. Hey I'm new here and have a question. I am wanting to install a Weapon-R SW Air Intake ("SW" stands for Secret Weapon) on my 1996 Nissan Pathfinder to give it a little better pickup. However, I have heard bad things about Weapon-R products (such as cheaply knocking off other manufacturers' designs). Yet Weapon-R is the only intake manufacturer that makes Short Ram Intakes for a 1996 Pathfinder. I have looked at a dozen other site's inventory, and none of them have an intake made for my car. Is it worth it to buy a crappy intake for my Pathfinder, even though it's the only intake available for it? Or should I just wait around or simply not buy one? It is $188 plus tax, shipping and handling. Thanks! -brerben
  15. Check your muffler bearings. Also, your hubcaps could have a leak.
  16. Here is mine, and yes it is very rusted. I went to a junkyard and pulled a new bracket off of another pathfinder but I haven't taken the time to put the new one on yet. Best bet is to call around at junkyards to see if they have any Pathfinders or Infiniti QX4's (they are the same as Pathfinders) and pull one off yourself.
