  1. Yeah Bunchie, I've got 218k on mine. I replaced trailing arms and bushings upper and lower, front control arms, lower ball joints, tie rod ends, axles struts/springs, rotor/pads over the last year. I'm still pretty much a novice but I love working on it and love learning this stuff. I'm wondering about the wheel bearings. I'm wondering if I didn't get them tight enough or I guess it's "preload" ? I'm not sure. I just keep going on here and picking all your brains. Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to get back after it but I'll wait until the temp outside isn't 120-which it was yesterday. effing ridiculous!!!
  2. Hey guys, I recently had my truck aligned. No play, no drift, take your hands off the wheel perfect. I put new front brake rotors and pads on and although it brakes great, it wanders all over. It isn't pulling left or right, it just feels loose and wants to drift and wander. Any ideas what it could be or suggestions what I need to do would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!
  3. It's actually the big mounting bracket bolts that fell out, not the caliper bolts
  4. No, I'm putting new ones on because mine fell out when I forgot to put loctite on when I put new rotors on. I'm an idiot
  5. I have a 2001 Pathfinder and lost my caliper mounting bracket bolts. Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the bolts? Thanks in advance!
  6. Does anyone have an idea on my dash lights, speedometer, tach etc,? I've checked the fuses and nothing is blown. What are the chances that the bulbs themselves blew? The only thing on my dash that works is the clock. Any advice is welcomed!! Thanks guys!
  7. Thanks you guys for your experiences. Just wanted to play it safe but I'll be listening for the guides to rattle or maybe just trade it. I'd say it's probably about that time. Thanks again
  8. I have an 01 and bought it with 120k miles on it. The guy told me he had a new timing chain put on shortly before he sold it to me. I now have 217k on it. It still runs great as I maintain it relatively well, but I'm wondering if I need to put another one on or am I good to go? I've heard it pretty much can destroy your engine if it goes. It's old enough that I'd rather not put $5k into a new motor. Any advice would be appreciated!! Thanks!!
  9. I'm still relatively new to this forum but the few times I've bounced things off you guys, you've been right on. Hopefully you can help me with this one. 01 Pathfinder, recently installed new axles, control arms, lower ball joints, outer tie rod ends, sway bar links, and struts and springs. Struts and springs were put on about a month after all of the other and about two weeks after that, the truck developed the creaking noise. It starts as soon as I put it in reverse in the driveway. It's not a squeak at all but a low creaking noise. It doesn't do it when i go over speed bumps or down the curb-like end of the driveway, but it's more of when I turn or the whole truck initially moves(like when it's put in gear). I can't get it to make noise when I bounce it while parked. I'm leaning toward sway bar links are junk or possibly lower ball joints? Am I on the right track or do I have no business trying to play mechanic? Any help would be appreciated!!!
  10. Can anyone tell me what I'm looking at? My 2001 Pathy was always starting immediately, but I thought with 215000 on it, a bottle of injector cleaner won't hurt. I added it and now it has trouble starting. Once it's running down the road, no problems, no hesitation, no stalling at stop lights. But to get it to start can be a challenge. I thought maybe a fouled plug or injector coils? If anyone can shed a little light on this issue and let me know what I might want to try, it would be greatly appreciated!
  11. I've put new rear trialing arms on and I'm having a hell of a time getting the upper driver side arm off. I can get to it but my 1100lb torque wrench won't move it. I let wd sit on it for an hour and nothing. I can't grind it because of gas tank right there, no room for a hack saw. Could i use a heat gun if I shield the gas tank and filler hose? Any other suggestions to get this damn bolt off would be welcome!!
  12. Thanks Bushnut and mjotrainbrain! I'm new on here and really appreciate some good advice! I'll let you know how it turns out
  13. Does anyone have any tips on replacing the control arms, ball joints, tie rods, struts etc on a 2001 Pathfinder? I've been getting parts off of ebay motors because they are so much cheaper than anywhere else I've looked. Just replaced the rear trailing arms after I experienced the death sway/wobble. Got that done but need to do the front end worse. Alignment place said it needed 3k worth of front suspension stuff done before they'd align it. I won't pay for what I can do myself. It's got 210k miles but has creaks and groans and all of that fun stuff. Steering is sketchy although I do have a new rack on there. Are there any tricks or helpful hints when putting struts, control arms and ball joints on?
