  1. Hopefully this won't digress into political disaster... but I am questioning the Republican Party's decision. It is clear they are hoping to capitalize on the perceived Obama/Clinton division in the Democratic party and try to win over some female votes. But it seems to me they would be losing more sexist a-hole votes than they would gain female votes.... I did my own poll among my female friends, and even the most ardent Clinton supporters would still NEVER vote Republican regardless of who he has on the ticket for VP. I even asked "What if it was Hillary?" They still said no.

You might want to see this - from Hillary's supporters themselves.

Oh, and I don't really care about non-American opinions. If left to their own devices, they start world wars all on their own - proven twice in a row in the past century. Compared to that, we're pretty good, even if you think Bush is the antiChrist and the source of all bad things - because the "non-Americans" seem to do genocide and mass murder pretty well. I think the Jews would agree.

  2. Let me get this right... You have (4) Jag engines and you claim they would all run? At the same time?

That, my friend, qualifies you as a wrenching god.....

    It's easier than it looks.

The problem with Jags wasn't the engines or even the carburetion systems. It was (usually) the electrics and electronics. All of mine have their stock ignition systems. Sometime in the 70s, Jaguar told Lucas to stop sending them idiotic Brit-designed ignition systems - and Lucas complied.

XJ6, loose E-Type engine: GM HEI in a box with a Lucas label. Seriously. To the point where all the electronic ignition parts are from a Caprice except the box they're housed in.

    XJR: Denso engine/ignition controls.

    XJ12: Ford EDIS6 x2 ignition.

The 'R and 12 are in at least weekly use, the XJ6 runs but won't go anywhere since I blew up the transmission, and the loose E-type engine gets started once every few months.

  3. Wow Ghostpath, thanks bud. I'm not really hip to what happened between you and TNO, and to be honest, as far as I can tell it was a while ago so I don't really care. But considering it was a while ago, maybe you could let it rest?

As far as posting other local clubs, the more the merrier in my opinion.

"A while ago?" Try just this past April or so. Unless they've edited THAT out of their forums as well.

After what happened, I've made a point of telling anyone who's been interested to go somewhere else instead. And, if they ask, why.

You might want to ask where all the club money went. And where any money you donate to that club would go now.

And whether there's any assurances that the same thing won't happen to the money again.

  4. Unfortunately, TNO is mostly a Jeep club - they pretty much admitted that themselves... unless they've edited THAT thread as well on their boards.

I recommend checking out some of the other offroad clubs around instead. Try these guys: http://www.dfw-tx4wd.org/forums/default.asp They're not Nissan specific, but I've seen a lot more intelligence in their moderation and such. As well as more support, etc.

Also, last I looked, nobody in TNO has an 05-up Pathy, so they wouldn't be of much help anyway. If you are in the DFW area and just want to measure up an 05+ Pathfinder, Bankston Nissan of Irving has been very helpful on the many projects I've attempted. Private message me with what you're looking for and I'll get with the Bankston guys and see if we can work something out.

  5. 12 in the XJ12.

12 in the carbed E-Type engine on a stand.

    6 in the XJR.

    6 in the XJ6.

    6 in the Pathfinder.

    4 in the CB700SC.

4 in the CB700SC's spare engine (can be running in less than 15 minutes)

    50 total.

  6. Possibly... but it's more likely that putting the TB cleaner in and increasing the compression put more load on the belts and he popped it.

By all means, pull the spark plugs out and try to turn the engine over, but I suspect that it's still not going to rotate.

  7. Yeah, but that's with all cars. And it's lame and doesn't always work to get you out of a situation.

The LSD equipped WD21s go places that non-LSD/non-locked WD21s can't and that other trucks need lockers to get to.

  8. Pre-93 trucks are not the same in terms of general wiring, FYI.

In fact - as an example - as I've just learned, the 89- 4/90 trucks with automatic climate control have a different wiring loom and climate control head unit from *any* other WD21.

  9. Mostly it's supposed to scream and yell if someone opens the doors, hatch, or hood. Note that it doesn't surveil the rear GLASS, just the metal hatch.

Unfortunately, it has a 15 to 30 second delay, during which if the offending door is closed, it simply resets without ever having made a noise whatsoever. Pretty much worthless. Especially in your case, where the potential thief might have a key. Why? Because if you start the car during that time... it never goes off. Starting the car will also shut up the alarm if it is already sounding.

It also has no glass break detection and the impact sensing is pretty bad too.

  10. Yes, I completely understand the speculator part of things, but when the dollar is worth 66% of it's previous international value (say, from 5 years ago) the price of oil just went up 50% with no change of international price. IE $50 a barrel just went up to $75... Yes, that does apply, more than people are realizing.

You do realize that about 90% of that decline has happened since the Democrats gained control of Congress, right? And that Congress has more effect on the economy than the administration does, right?

Before you start blaming "the evil Bu@!*%ler" for it, you might want to check the timeline there.

That said, the dollar has been grossly overvalued since the early 90s. We were overdue for a correction - though I think it swung too far. On the other hand, all that outsourcing that people were complaining about? Yeah, it's coming to an end and such jobs are now coming back/staying in the US.

  11. Um, actually, the big thing affecting the price of oil right now isn't that, it's speculators playing games. The Saudis recently commented that they're actually starting to have to sit on some supplies of oil because nobody is buying at the current price - which they don't like either, since it makes alternatives more economically viable.

  12. Oh. You got the supposedly OEM Kelly Springfield/Duralast belts.

    1. Kelly-Springfield is Goodyear's "budget" line. They're now being repacked/rebranded by AutoZone as Duralast belts.

    2. K-S belts are quite often crap and wear quickly, even if properly tensioned.

    3. Nissan belts are made by Dayco or Gates, usually Gates.

    4. K-S belts are not OEM for any major maker. Goodyear, the parent company is, but the K-S stuff isn't.

You got taken by an auto parts store.

Search the archives, there's been discussion of this before. The 94/95 brush guards may not fit earlier trucks without retrofitting. And you may have an earlier bumper fitted.
