  1. I actually had a bad fuel hose and gas was squirting out everywhere...kinda lead me to believe the pressure is good :)

The injector tests are in the FSM. Pull the dist. out of the head and turn the key to ON, then rotate the dist clockwise...you'll hear the fuel pump pumping fuel and each injector will click. Leave the dist. plugged in of course.

I meant the belts and dist are as perfect as I can get them until I hear run.

I don't understand your explanation of lining up the rotor except 10 o'clock. Can you pls explain?

Thanks for the help. I was reading some of the electrical FSM and I think I have a blown fusible link near the battery. I remember when I was taking it apart and the pos cable touched the neg post. Also the connector on the cable is melted/broken/corroded. I try bypassing in tomorrow to test. I look forward to hearing more about lining the rotor. Thanks pal!

Im sure you can get it running and probably some little things that you just overlooked out of excitement..when I did my dizzy I forgot to take the breaker bar off my pulley when I was cranking it by hand and started it...lol..On the rotor lining it with spark plug 1, If you look at it straight down like looking at a clock itll be at 10 o clock...the rotor will be like the small hand on the clock..Just like when we do our timing the tensioners allen hole is at 5 o clock thats how we determine we have the proper tension on the belt

  2. crank the pulley again by hand to a full turn and line up your rotor..it took me 4 tries to do my dizzy..when i tried to line up my motor to cyl 1 i was actually lining up the rotor to spark plug 1 on the motor instead of the dizzy cap...lol..Thanks to nunya for correcting me on that..When I lined it up the third time it was like at 10 o clock

Kc im kinda lost on these

The fuel pressure is fine. I can hear the injectors clicking while turning the distributor by hand.

The timing is close to perfect...until I get it to fire that is the only way to tell.

how did you turn the distributor and made the injectors click? I did my fuel pressure check the ancient way by disconnecting the hose going in the fuel filter and out

Howd you get the timing set if its not running?

  3. how the heck dose the cluster come out? I see 2 screws at the top and thats it!

theres 2 more screws holding that bezel and once you get the bezel or trim off there 4 more screws i think holding the cluster

You have to take the underdash panel and the other 2 screws thats holding the bezel is behind it..you can just pull gently on the top part of the underdash panel without having to take the 2 screws holding it below but its safer to just take the 2 screws off and yank on the top part of that underdash panel.the top part is just held with snaps so you can either pry it gently with a stiff putty knife or pull on the side

I can take pictures tomorrow morning so you know what im talking about or somebody here could probably chime in and explain it better :aok:

  4. You truely don't get more clearance from the lift, your axles are still at the same height. Lift is so you can fit bigger tires which is how you vain complete clearance gains.

and easy access to the manifolds in case it needs servicing :D

  5. For $150 I sure wouldnt take the risk .I wouldnt even buy a take off , by the time you buy all the hardwares thats needed and time consumed not to mention gas youll probably going to end up spending just the same. Just my opinion

  6. Im going to do a trans cooler on my hardbody and figured change the oil on both the trans and tcase. I read on here that a trans fluid can also be used on our pathys tcase and while im doing all this fluid change I might as well do my power steering

What fluid do you guys recommend for both the trans and tcase? I was thinking of going with Castrol (import vehicle) or should it be dex/merc ?

    Thanks guys

  7. soak the 02 sensor with pb blaster atleast overnight and while working on your plugs soak it again...rent a 02 sensor socket and itll make your install a heck of a lot easier

another thing on the spark plug # 6 is after replacing it make sure that the small vacuum hose in that area is still connected and not damaged better yet just replace it , it cost like 30 cents per foot for those

Dont lose patience on plug 6 if you cant get it right away.It took me 3 tries the first time I did mine tune up

  8. I reinstalled the distributor on compression stroke with the rotor facing plug 1 and now it wont fire :headwall:

I know I have the markings on my crank pulley correct.. We cranked the motor by hand and took a small dowel and stick it on plug 1 and watched it go up and down while I have my buddy turn the crank pulley and soon as we get to the point where the dowel is up I lined up the mark to 0 and dropped the distributor in and its facing plug 1

what else could I be doing wrong?

  9. Its a lot easier to take the rad support and get it out from the front..If I were you id rent a hoist but if you do rent one get everything disconnected on the motor and trannsmission first and prep everything so that all you have to do is hook up the hoist and pull the motor and tranny out all at once.

  10. So a little update. Job security is looking iffy because my supervisor easily gets away with abusing her power and HR, the big bosses at my job are about as worthless as anything. So i'm in the transitional period for a job. still working the bad one but I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep it.

So i'll stick with the Nissan now. went through today and put the shift boot/console thing in. Gotta get a new front carpet because the person who removed the boot before cut the carpet at the corners rather than remove the carpet.

But it doesn't take that long. But i gotta replace my rear bumper because somehow at my step brother's my rear bumper got twisted. No clue how. I honestly don't want to know. He still has my sensor and gear so I gotta get those back.

I am hopefully calling tomorrow about a set of Thorleys from Rocky Road Outfitters. Gonna cost me like $395 or so. Might buy them so i don't waste that money down the road lol.

mcdonalds is always hiring dude..feel bad for you..first you let your step push you around now your boss..gud luck
