Picked up a Loadwarrior from a buddy. The Yakima mounts set the basket too high so I removed the front and rear factory crossbars, built two replacement bars from aluminum, and mounted the basket. Used hose clamps for now to attach basket and crossbars. It's rock solid but I'll keep looking for something better. On another thought, I think the current tires are already looking small...

Backspacing on these wheels are 3.75", they push the tire about an inch past the fender flares.

31x10.5 on 15's. The tires are worn a bit, maybe a year left on them. I was thinking I'd switch to 33's when these are worn out but I'm really liking these as they are.

Took the pathy out this morning to hit some dirt roads, wish I'd bought tires a long time ago.

Do you have pcs of where you cut? Didn't get 33's, found a deal on wheels and some used 31's for $300, to good to pass up. Mounted them today and had rubbing on full left turn reverse lock. Used a dreamer to cut some pieces, used a heat gun in other areas, but the metal towards the back of the driver wheel well still slightly rubs. It would be worse if they were new tires.

If you're hitting big puddles or doing water crossings then yes, this would be a problem. It's dry and rocky where I go and the box is still protected enough that I'm not worried about heavy rain being an issue.

So last Thursday, after seeing a few posts here about the idea, I decided to cut 5 two inch holes into my air naked box. The theory was that more oxygen would increase power and gas mileage, plus add a slight growl to the engine. I had a backup box located in case I had issues so I cut away. I drilled 3 of the two inch holes on the fender side of the box and two more holes on the bottom of the box. K&M air filter went back in place and I drove it as normal. There was a slight growl to the engine, it sounded better. There was/is a perceived increase in power. I was able to pass another vehicle uphill, which o don't think be ever done. On a particular hill to work, the cruise control, set at 70, used to always disengage 3/4s of the way up. Now it pulls me all the way up and through the hill. Again, I feel like there's more power, but no real evidence. Gas mileage has increased two full miles per gallon. No out of the ordinary driving either, I primarily drive it on the freeway, 65-70 mph, to and from work. All the driving I did over the weekend was similar. I'll keep checking mileage, but for now I'm happy with the quick air box mod.

Still haven't had time to get new wheels/tires, driver window regulator showed up over the weekend but I'd left camping, hopefully get that installed tomorrow so the window is back working. Pic from the short trip. Quick dinner on the beach.

What kind of lift do you have?

Stopped at the local tire shop the other day. They say 33's will fit. I was under the impression that 32's were as big as I could go with just the spacers.... Can anyone confirm this?

Spacers completed, on the hunt for tires/wheels now.

I have some 265/75/16 wheels on a set of Konig Countersteers I'm looking at. Actually coming from another forum member and his '97.

Fleury's spacers are now inbound. Talk about great service. I sent him an email with a few questions and he answered a few hours later and had an invoice sent moments after. Found some wheels and tires, just waiting on the lift so they'll fit before buying.

Lubed all the windows with silicone spray. Hang onto that little straw. Thing blew off on the last window, right into the track and lost forever. Installed Warne manual hubs. Way easier than I expected, wondered why I hadn't done it sooner. I can already tell a difference in speed and distance coasting. Anxious to see any gas mileage improvement.

Another project was finally wrapped up just as my BMW, and DD, needed some maintenance (I'm determined to get it to 300k miles before I sell it), which turned my attention back to the Pathfinder. I changed the rear bushings back in October and plasti-dipped the wheels then as well. Today I installed Warne manual hubs and was surprised how easy they were to do. Total job time, including gathering tools and cleanup, was 30-45 minutes. Here's how she sits now, no big change yet. Warne manual hubs installed. I'm searching craigslist for wheels/tires now, 31" at least, but may order Fleury's spacers first and just go with bigger tires sooner.

Also interested in the conduit rack plans. And AK, thanks for the explanation. One further question though. The factory 10mm mounts, are they just the mounts from the 2 main bars and the 3 smaller supports bars of the OEM rack?

EXPLORx4 - East Bay (Pleasant Hill area) and I'll check the pics out tonight, thanks. Fitting 7 people in an R-50? Requires a third row so we added a "Little Passengers" bolted in the cargo area. The bench is certified as a "booster" so it also eliminated the need for extra booster seats. Worked great, only draw back was they had to get in and out via the lift gate and we lost all our cargo area. I'm looking to sell it if you know anyone looking for one.

Conduit fasteners? What are the bolted to the rail with?
