  1. In that location I can only think of 2 things it might be: 1) Automatic transmission oil from the return side of the cooler or 2) radiator fluid from a crack somewhere.

ATF is mostly a red color so if you put down a white sheet of paper / rag and start the truck and throw into neutral for a while and take a look at the ... ahh... white thing... then you should be able to tell what color it is. (assuming that it is a serious leak). I am doing a trans oil cooler bypass since mine just blew a large amount onto the rad / bash plate / hoses and ground. I would suggest you do the same since you also have the auto. Dead trans from a plugged return line is a dead truck.

I will definitely be doing this once I'm home. So just put some rags or paper towels under the front of the truck and put her in neutral?

  2. Interesting. Check the soft brake line where it meets the hard line and the hard line if the soft line's alright. It might be hard to pinpoint the leak since the area will be wet all over, but maybe if you have someone pump the brakes while you look it'll show itself more clearly. That's how I found the leaky plug on my MC.

I honestly can't tell if it's even the brake fluid now. I'm now between that, power steering fluid, and radiator fluid.

  3. Alright so by now I feel like the majority of people know me as the "my Pathfinder's falling apart can you help me fix it" guy, but I seriously could use some insight from proper mechanics/Pathfinder veterans...

So recently I had to refill my brake fluid as I noticed the brake light came on. That was about 6 weeks ago or so, and now a week ago it came on again, so I refilled it again. I had a feeling that something may be wrong, but today was the day that proved my hunch was probably right.

It looks like wherever its leaking is allowing the fluid to run down the tow hook, and then it drips off of that.

You guys are the smart ones. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. If it is that inconsistent, it is probably sensor/wiring in nature. Vacuum leaks and fuel issues generally aren't intermittent.

Might want to go through the sensor connectors looking for corrosion or loose wires...

Hopefully I don't sound too senseless when I ask this, but by "sensor connectors" you mean the wires that are located on top and around the engine correct? I just want to make sure I don't miss any spots haha!

  5. So I just tried to get on the freeway and my Pathy started shaking for some reason. I'm guessing it has something to do with the transmission, but I'm not sure. The RPM's stayed consistent at about 2200 going roughly 60MPH, but it felt like it became harder to accelerate.

I didn't fully push down the accelerator at that point though, considering I was scared that it might blow apart lmao

Any ideas on what this might be? Thank you so much.

  6. So I'm not sure if its been talked about on here before but I'm interested in putting a CB antenna on my Pathy! I'm wondering if anyone's done it before, and if so what you did (such as the type of mounting bracket, where you routed the wiring, ect.) I'd prefer not to drill holes on the outer body, but I'm all ears to hear what people have done!

    Thanks!

  7. My Pathfinders fuel gauge has been getting somewhat inaccurate every time it drops below half a tank. I'm talking showing that there's half a tank of gas, going somewhere and turning it off, getting back in and turning it on and having it show that there's barely a quarter of a tank.

How big of a repair am I looking at here? Thanks!

  8. Thank you so much for everyone's responses! I'm glad to hear that this isn't normal, but at the same time that just means one more thing for me to look into... Well she's going in bright and early tomorrow morning for new brakes and to get everything realigned, so I'll look into the problem later this week!

    Thanks again everybody!

  9. Here is the finished product! Perfect and like new again!

And yes I know this post is extremely overdue... but I'm just happy that everything worked out. Also for anyone ordering this part in the future, this piece is technically called a gasket, rather than the seal itself.

  10. So today I was drove about 15 miles on the freeway in around 100-103 degree (Fahrenheit) weather. Going to my destination I had the AC running on full, but when I was about a mile away I turned it off as the needle on the car was approaching the danger zone. Coming home I had the AC off and the windows down, but the engine temperature still got rather close to the warning zone by the time I was home.

I understand the WD21's are getting significantly old by today's standards, but I'm just wondering if this can be avoided? I know 100 degrees is pretty hot, but typically I think the engine runs at 200-250 degrees, so the constant flow of air should be keeping it cool. The radiator was replaced within the last year, and the coolant has been topped off, so neither of those are the issue.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

  11. Just to update my progress, I went down to my Nissan dealership, and had a replacement seal ordered from them. They only wanted around $65 for it, including the price to have it shipped from Sacramento (the dealer which had one left in stock), to Yakima. It's supposed to arrive sometime this week, so I'll post again once I've received it.

  12. Any Nissan dealer can get you the seal, Alkorahil here on the board runs a nissan parts dept and has great prices. His thread is in services or vendors, can't remember which.

Alright I'm gonna try the Nissan dealership here in Yakima later today. Chances are they won't have anything in stock for a WD21 but you never know!

  13. +1 on the professional installation.

I bought a new seal for the same reason - original one was perished. I tried doing it myself, and it was an utter failure.

I ended up finding a replacement sunroof at the JY with a good seal for ~$20, which was half the cost of the seal alone. So another option you might want to consider.

Do you mind me asking where you bought your first replacement sunroof seal? Also it's kind of off topic but also where did you buy your replacement nerf bars? Mine are rotting away.

  14. Last night I removed my sunroof for some warm night driving, and the seal around the outside of my sunroof separated from the glass itself and broke off. I have the piece still but I'm reluctant to fix it because the rubber itself is extremely brittle due to the years of being in the weather.

Is there a place to buy a new seal?

    Thanks
