Mine did something relatively similar and the MAF was the problem. Hopefully the same is true for yours!

Thanks for the info OH6, I'm gonna take a look at this within the next couple of weeks.
Ever since last year when I took my Pathy in to have the alignment done, my mechanic (without asking) attempted to fix my ABS light which has been on for 10+ years now; he failed. In the process he managed to make my power locks quit unlocking. They still lock, but when you go to unlock the doors, there's an audible clicking from what I can only assume is some sort of relay under my driver side dash. This is why I try to work on my rig rather than take it to a mechanic!
Try this for the door locks...
NOTE: As mentioned at the bottom of the FSM Page.. The circuit breaker for the Door Lock is the same as for the POWER WINDOWS!!
Good luck!

That's interesting regarding the recall on the VG30E's, I didn't know this event ever took place... guess that's why they call it the "silent" recall lol.
As far as getting your engine serviced, I would say bring it in to an authorized Nissan dealership and explain everything to them and I'm assuming they will be compliant. My friend bought what I want to say was an '02 Grand Cherokee back in 2014 only to discover it had a pretty serious misfire. After looking into the issue further the dealer discovered it was the #3 fuel injector that had failed, and it was allowing dirt and all sorts of crud to accumulate around it. Upon bringing it into a Chrysler dealership he was told that the year of his Cherokee had a known issue with the design of the intake and exhaust manifolds, so they added some dinky cover on the manifold to "direct air better" or something like that to help prevent the buildup of debris and replaced the injector; they did it free of charge. I know it's a lot different than the issue you're having, but my past experiences with dealers and recalled components has been good so far.
Let us know how it goes if you do take it in!

I too have been on the lookout for any OEM brush guards for these style rigs, they're few and far between. From what I've read on here recently your best bet is definitely just calling around to local JY's, hopefully someone has one! I still have yet to find one for mine, the search continues...

I modded my tailgate so that when I open the hatch glass to grab something, the interior lights come on automatically. This should save me my usual dance of opening the glass, groping for the light switch, grabbing whatever I'm after, shutting the glass, and then digging out my keys again because I forgot to turn the stupid light back off.
I'm less annoyed by the WD's quirks than usual, though. Family friends with an R51 visited yesterday and said theirs was kind of bucking and jumping on the way here. My dad and I checked fluids and sure enough, it's got the SMOD. The trans dipstick looked/smelled alright but the radiator's full of creamy greyish-pink nope. We're hoping we caught it soon enough to save the tranny.
If it's not too elaborate, care to share how you did it? I would love to do this to my own!

Yup, those hose clamps are tiny little buggers. I dealt with the same issue for 2 years because it would only get bad/noticeable during the winter season.

As someone who is still rocking the OEM shocks, I can confidently say that yes, sport mode was made with the intention of being able to corner better. Do they still work after 315K? Hell no lol. Got my eyes set on some Bilstiens that I may get for myself as a late Christmas present.

What kind of paint did you use for this project. I've been contemplating doing something like this for some time, but haven't pulled that trigger yet.
It gets a lot of hate from some people, but personally I recommend plasti-dip. I had never plasti-dipped something before and when I did my wheels, it only took me around 3 hours to get a nice even coat on all 4. Not to mention if you don't like the look, just wait the 24 hours for it to cure and peel it off!

Thanks for this post. As someone who is also 6'2, having some extra leg room is a necessity. I'll be giving this a shot next time I'm sleeping in the rig!

Suspension lift, roof cargo rack? That's all I got haha. Include some pics though!!

+1 on adding washers to the striker. I had the same problem this time last year, all it took was about 15-20 minutes of trial and error and it's never bothered me since! Rear hatch feels like it seats better in general too.

Came outside to my Pathy last Tuesday and tried to drive her to Walmart to buy more brake fluid for my leaky brake system, only to discover when I pushed my brake pedal to the floor I had no brake pressure. Upon further inspection, the drivers side of my frame was shiny, and after opening the hood I saw an empty master cylinder, and a massive leak coming down the front of my brake booster. Lol.
One week later, a new aftermarket master cylinder, learning how to bench bleed a master cylinder without a vise - and a trip to Ace hardware to get two replacement nuts for securing the bracket and master cylinder to the brake booster (literally managed to lose both of them, they're either sitting somewhere on my frame or in our gravel parking lot lol), my rig now has brakes again. Just happy to not have to worry about leaking brake fluid anymore!

+1 on this thread, I'm interested in doing the same thing too. How much body lift is considered acceptable for these rigs? I just don't want to see too much frame...

After dealing with a misfire for about a month now, I finally figured out the #4 cylinder had the injector fail! 5 hours later and she's back on the road.

Injector #4 was not to blame! Misfire became less noticeable the more I drove her, and cleaning the MAF sensor and throttle body has completely fixed the problem. Amazing what effects little things can have on an engine!

Started experiencing a serious misfire. I blame injector #4! Time to find out tomorrow.

Pulled into my driveway this morning to discover my brake lights were on. Laying on my floor mat was a little rubber stopper, so I spent a good 10 minutes wiggling the stopper back into its spot on the front of the brake pedal, and then taping it down. Brake lights work again!

What exactly is stopping you from removing the O2 sensor? I recently replaced mine and I was having a similar problem to what you are describing. Upon replacing the sensor, my sputtering/stalling went away, and mileage jumped up to 18mpg!
-
1 day later and 1 new O2 sensor installed, and it seems to be a success! Pulling the O2 sensor not only revealed a very black sensor, but it also had the original Nissan logo on the side of it, which suggests to me that it had never been swapped. She doesn't run too rich anymore, and I haven't had any rough idling/stalling. It's only been a day though, so only time will tell!
-
Checked this morning for a vacuum seal before heading off to work, and I didn't hear any hissing. I ended up ordering an O2 sensor which should be arriving today, and I'll install that later this afternoon. I'll report back on what happens! Thanks everyone
-
I would look for vacuum leaks first, it would explain the rich fueling as the o2 is seeing a lot of extra oxygen, and pushing on the brakes uses some stored vacuum from the booster and an additional leak could lead to a stall.
Take a spray bottle of water and spray everything in on or around the intake manifold, ON A COLD ENGINE, and see if you can hear any hissing. If you have a leak you will be able to hear it this way.

Good call. I'll have to take a look at that sometime tomorrow!

So I was driving my Pathy home from work today just like any other day, and while coasting up to a stoplight the engine died. This obviously caused the power steering to go with it, but as soon as I pulled over and restarted her, she drove completely normal the rest of the way home. No sputtering, no rough idle, just died while braking towards a line of cars.
The only thing I could possibly think it could be is the O2 sensor. Once I was home, I unplugged the sensor and noticed only a VERY very slight change in idle, which has me thinking that this could be the culprit. I should also mention I thought I noticed her running a bit rich a few days ago, and there were also a good two stops at stoplights this week that resulted in a very rough idle.
Sorry if this is a somewhat sporadic post, I'm just trying to get your guys' input before I drop the $80 or so for the Bosch replacement.
Cheers

Spent the majority of yesterday blacking the lego's on my 92. Pleasantly surprised with how good they ended up looking!

I fully agree with Slartibartfast. I went searching at the local yards and found an identical dash in a '93 which I had never seen before. Pulled the missing bulb from that climate controller and I'm fully back in business. Good luck mate!
Rattling/grinding noise coming from passenger side w/ climate control on.

Hello everyone, haven't had to make a fresh thread in a while, the Pathy's been good to me lately!!
Just yesterday I finally got my Pathfinder back from AAMCO transmissions with a fresh RE4R01A slapped in her, she's running great in that regard. What's not so great is the noise I've been hearing from the passenger side when I turn on my climate controls. It's sort of a rattling/kind of grinding noise that changes speed and pitch with the speed of the fan. When it's on setting 1 it's the most audible, with setting 2 being a little louder, and then setting 3 sounds like it's almost gone... but then again that could just be because of the overpowering noise of the fans!
I remember driving her home from college last winter when my tranny failed, and just prior to that trip it started making the noise. I know that's not related in any way, I just know that it was something that happened when I was driving her, and not done by my mechanic over the past 3 months (yes they had my car for three months to put in a brand new tranny. long story).
Also I should mention I just cleaned out my blower resistors today, there was a little bit of debris inside but upon vacuuming and reinstalling everything, no cigar. It sounded like the noise was almost coming from what I assume is the blower fan... I feel stupid now for not pulling out my phone and snapping a few photos of it. I'm just curious if anyone has had a similar issue to this or if anyone has removed/disassembled the blower fan.
Thanks in advance!
