  1. Thanks for your post¡¡¡ i thought about that way, but... I already call Houston, and they told me is not possible to do it this way, I need to be there in Houston in person, at the MVD, and get a temporary permission and register. Even worse yet, because I have to go through two states. The manager of the warehouse told me also, to give me the car I need this permission. But seriously, I think you are right, there has to be a way. We are going to insist a few more... I will call them back again and insist, there has to be a way. Thanks
  2. Now I am waiting for the warehouse to send me a pic of tne nissan, to make sure is in good condition after the trip¡¡¡ Ok, but now, the difficulties part II: the car is in the warehouse, they give me time until next wednesday 4/23 to pick it up... looks like it's so easy? but not yet¡ of course I shall be in Houston, but.... the question is... The warehouse will give me the car if I show them the registration, insurance,... ok, I understand, but the problem is.... i was yesterday in the MVD (motor vehicle division) in Rio Rancho, couse I am living in New Mexico, and I will register the care in New Mexico... but they told me that if the car is in Houston, I need to do it in Houston¡¡¡ Aaaarrrgghhh The MVD needs the insurance, my driving license, the costumes clearance... and me in Houston. It's going to be hard, couse I have no flights from Albuquerque to Houston until tuesday or wednesday, I don't know if I will have time to do everything. I am stresssssssssssssssseeedddddddddddddddddd ok. I call now to the MVD in Houston to ask if I can do it in the internet Be back sooooon
  3. The vessel from Barcelona to Houston is named PRIMAVERA, aaahhhh nice name, don't you think so? Here is a pic...
  4. Hello everyone, did you miss me? Some time ago I started to tell you all the Big Move. I come from Barcelona (Europe), actually now, since february, living in Rio Rancho (New Mexico USA), I've got my residence here in the USA recently, to live with my husband and family. Then I decided to move to the USA with my nissan, an old 2.7 turbodiesel form 1992. It does'nt matter how old, how many miles, how many everything... not without my nissan¡¡¡ Time ago, I started the moving in Barcelona, de-register the car, paperwork, shipping company...I arrived to the USA in february, had to take care about my residence, while my nissan was across the ocean from Barcelona to Houston. The nissan just arrived at port in Houston yesterday, now it's in the warehouse waiting for me to pick it up, and then drive home from Houston to Rio Rancho. Who could tell me years ago, when I got my nissan...? who could tell me that our hardest trip was across the ocean??? But now,.. big move part II, couse it's not so easy, now another dificulties appear... Thanks to everyone who follow me, helped me, and encouraged me with that moving (the big move 'topic' I started few months ago). My husband, family in USA and in Barcelona, friends... everybody thinks I am crazy? such an old car¡ I thought here in this forum people would understand me. Thanks everyone¡¡¡
  5. mine is a factory diesel, it is en route to the us from spain at the moment, so i can not show you fotos at the moment. there is a company in utah that specializes in deisel swaps, you should look them up for mechanical questions. once mine is here, i will gladly show you fotos and email the factory book
  6. See you soon guapo, soon.... in Houston next month, March... Good by, Adios, hasta la vista, see you later.... I will tell you how it's going...
  7. The BIG MOVE just started¡¡¡¡ sorry poor quality of the pics, but had no light into the garage and I did'nt wanted to disturb the work of the people... Finally they came to tow the Pathy / Terry... towed to the gates with a small patrol, and then they put on to the crane... here in Europe cars like nissan pathys are such a "big car"... I have to tell you, that impressed me so much...... my Pathy / Terry on the crane.... AAAaaaarrrrgggghhhhhh¡¡¡¡ Thanks everybody for your support, only need to now you are there and read / listen is enough for me... sure you anderstand... everybody says... ouahhhh such an old car, are yoy crazy???? ... possibly,.... but it's my pathfinder, and that's what I say... Not without my Pathfinder¡¡¡¡ Good news soon¡¡¡
  8. I'VE GOT THE PAPERS¡¡¡¡¡ OOUUUUUuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh¡¡¡¡ The countdown just started¡ Just today I've got the papers from the Register in Barcelona, I needed to de-register the car for export to the USA. They've noted in the official document the country where the car is traveling (USA), if I go there to pick it up, if the car is paid off, if there's outstanding penalties, sanctions, ...and ... ... and also requires a criminal history certificate ¡¡¡ I thought that was only necessary for me, when I tramited my resident visa, the embassy asked me for the police certificate, but the car also needs¡?¡?¡ Ok, sorry, should not complain, If it's necessary, that's it. I got crazy all day in the office, but now it's done yeeaaaaaaaahhhh¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Now, I have to empty the gas tank, becouse next date, 22 January the tow truck comes to pick it up¡¡¡ Thank you everybodyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy for listen/read/follow....
  9. Nice Terrano, nice pics, awesome¡¡¡¡ I've got one 2.7 TD also, like yours, I am living now in Barcelona, but next month, Im going to move to the USA NM (Rio Rancho), with my Pathy/Terry¡¡¡ my nissan is coming with me, It's going to be a hard work, but worth it. I think mine shall be one of the few that wheel there. Just today I've got the papers from the dgt in Barcelona, de-register the car for export to the USA. The final countdown just started. I started a topic in General Forum "the big move" where I explain the story... Now, next date, 22 January the tow truck comes to pick it up¡¡¡
  10. Hi / Hola Thanks everybodyyyyy¡¡¡¡¡ nice to know there's someone... You are all right, differerent , but you all make me think right, couse I've lost objectivity. If someone asked me about it, surely I would answer similar, as you to me. I've talked today with my agent of the shipping company, and difficult number TWO: THE GAS TANK, now, the gas tank...... has to be empty before the tow truck comes.... (AAAaaarrrggghhhhh). I thought was necessary to do it before shipping (of course), but I thought they would do. I have no problem with that, I know how, but that makes more difficult the driving out of the gates if necessary. Looks like shipping companys move cars only for car dealers, with a big warehouse, but when you want to move your own car by yourself... that's another story. Know what? I have appointment with the register office next friday 10 th. January. And after, the tow truck comes 22 th. January. Now I start to feel the pressure and nerves, I/we 've started the COUNTDOWN ¡¡¡ Thanks everybody, please let me know, what do you think... It's going to be a hard work, the "Big Move" has just begun, but I think it's worth, don't you?... Hasta luego¡¡¡
  11. Tomorrow I have to talk to the shipping company again, to tell them the Pathy is already in the "right place". And then what's the next "difficulty"... (I have chills only to think about) Thanks for all your support, I consider all your opinions and suggestions...
  12. Thanks everybody¡¡¡ Happy to see your support and interest, really, that comforts me ... Ok, that's right, the most easy was to drive out of the street and then put it on the tow truck, but it's a risk I can not assume, becouse I have obligation to de-register the car before, and the risk is too much in a big city like Barcelona. Police can take it and put direct to the trash yard. The shipping company took me out of the head the idea. I am not a car dealer with a big warehouse, I don't live in a house with a big yard, so they told me to do it this way. I think I have to trust in the "hability" of the driver... That's it: at first seems easy, but after... difficulties appear, and multiply¡
  13. Hello everybody... Starting Point: I have to move the car to other garage with largest gates. They've assured me that the tow truck fits there inside. So I went yesterday... and.... I think the gates there are also small. Can somebody explain me how will fit in there?, even more, after go outside the tow truck with the car up? ... Look at that pics, look at that small car coming inside... They are going to crash my Pathy on the roof¡¡¡ I asked about to the manager of the garage, he said "don't you worry, they have it by the hand¡¡¡"...
  14. Thanks guys¡ Nice to know there's someone right there... Ok, that's right, It's a hard work, certainly, need to be persistent. First off I made sure the car can enter the USA, my family in NM went to ask for the federal register, they said the car is ok, even a few have been sold. I have proove in the NHTSA. That seems easy but... ...but now, I start to work, by the way always appear difficulties... I need to do de-registration of the car the in Barcelona, a few days before shipping¡¡¡ Once I've got the papers of de-registration, the shipping company comes to pick up the car with a tow truck... ever after a few days, couse they need to recieve the papers and check everything is ok. My problem: once I do de-registration the car can not stay or wheel in the public roads, not even one day just waiting for the tow truck, it's a risk. I don't live in a house with a big yard, in a city like Barcelona I have to leave the car in a underground public garage, the tow truck can not fit there inside, the gates are small... I need somebody to help¡ I'll go talk right now to the manager of the garage to see if they offer me something... So, that's gonna be harder than I though, paperwork, logistics...soon I will bring you news¡
  15. I want to tell you someting... I'm from Barcelona (Spain), next month I am going to move to live permanently to New Mexico USA. I have my family there, and everybody is awaiting for me. So, I've started to prepare the move, the "big move". A month ago I put my clothes and personal belongings in boxes... but then ... I had a feeling... I thought: "my car, my Nissan, my nice Pathy-Terrano". What am I going to do?"... I walked to the garage, and looked at it, and thought: I can not live without it, I can not let it down, not without my Pathy¡ No matter how old it is, no matter how many miles/kms, no matter anything, after so many adventures toghether. I could never imagine how much I love that car. Then,I've started to work hard to find the way. It's not going to be that easy, but it is worth. Everybody claims: "what are you doing? just forget it, an old car"... but for me, it is something else, it is a part of me. I'll be posting about the move, the "big move". Know what? after so much wheeling, our hardest trip will be by ship¡¡¡ I hope you can understand me... if you want to listen / read to me. Thanks.
  16. Hey dude, check the turbo charger of your engine, maybe defective. If not defective, maybe can be oil rings pistons, you may have broken one. How do you know if it's the turbo? because if the turbo snail is wet with oil, the problem is the turbo. But if the turbo is not contaminated with oil, then the problem is with the oil rings pistons, they are broken or worn and that means to repair motor. Hope can help you... There's a few topics about diesel engines, and I think all contributions can be good¡¡¡
  17. So... I am married to an american cityzen and just got the visa last december, and I decided to move to the USA, now I don't have family in Barcelona, that was easier for me. I only have Pathy-Terrano and it does not need visa, then, you can imagine the rest. The way to end up with the car is a hard work, but worth it. Everybody encouraged me to move to Rio Rancho, but I had constient about how much I love that car, I could never imagine I can't live without it¡¡¡ So I just understand you well... becouse I just said "not without my Pathy". Now everybody is awaiting for me/us. Everybody in NM told me that even diesel is more easy to find replacements in the USA than wherever in Europe, and sure it's right. I've never had trouble with engine (for luck) just some bothering with other I wil wix there: the gas air conditioner was finished five years ago sitll don't find replacement to fill it back, I broke the antenne in the car wash and still have not found replacement either... but motor engine is really good. Lately it does'nt run too much, but once we are in the USA it's time for new adventures, Now it's resting in a community garage waiting for the "Big Move". I hope the battery is ok when it comes ahah I think I will make a story...
  18. I think you like pics, so I just learned yesterday. This is my Pathy in owr last climbing in the Castle of Penyafort, somewhere in the mountains close to Barcelona. Now it's resting in a community garage waiting for the "Big Move"...
  19. HI how are you? Nice to meet you, I am so happy¡ Just right now I recived news from my friend, who is going to help me shipping my pathy from Barcelona to Houston, he said to come to pick it up next 22 january, and it shall be in Houston about 10 march, such a long trip. That's going to be a hard work¡¡¡ just do de-retistration, find a truck to pull from my community garage to the port, but I can not leave the car out of the street.... I am going to be crazy arrrggghhhh Ironically, but know what? My car is about 22 years old, no matter how old it is, no matter how many kms or miles it has, no matter anything... I can not live without it, I could never imagine how much I love that car. But after so many years toghether, so many adventures toghether, after so many...but it never let me down, so now I can not let it down either, I just said ironically, becouse know what? the hardest trip is going to be by ship, through the Atlantic Ocean¡¡¡ I will go to take it to Houston, thanks to God, about 10 march. I will rent a truck to pull it from Houston to Rio Rancho (Albuquerque NM) where my family is waiting for me/us. After register, insurance and everything (just paperwork, couse the car is ok) I think I can make a nice trip before the end of the month. Hey you, this mileage in your pathy is really horrible, are you sure there's no problem? But seriosly, I think everyone who owns Pathys is not for mileage, it is for what they are. Don't you think so? I think I am going to explain a story about the "Big Move" of my Pathfinder, I am happy that I found that forum, I think here I can find understanding... sorry if I write/talk too much, but I just needed Thanks...
  20. Thanks for your information¡¡¡¡ In the internet there are many converteres, but I don't trust. They always give different results. Your ratios are ok, is the same I thought was right. I've comproved the last time I filled the tank, for a long trip in the highway, not too fast, I made 900 KM. I did not get to spend it completely,I spent about 15 gallons, I filled the tank back before start to spending the last quarter, just in case. This is about 35 MPG. In the city I have comproved 30 MPG. My 2.7 TD not very popular engines, is the less powerful couse only they have 99 hp, but the consum is very low. Other 2.7 TD after 92 have increased up to 125 hp or more, so I think those ones are 25-27 MPG. I know there's a few pathys 2.7 TD in the USA, but they seem absent on forums or other sites, I'd like to share information about it. Thanks¡¡¡
  21. Not without my Pathfinder¡¡¡

  22. Hi you??? I'm actually living in Barcelona, but in february (thanks to God) my pathy and me will move to the USA, NM. I have a 2.7 turbodiesel engine. I think there's a few runing in the USA also, so I would like to share information about MPG with someone there. I only have my own information about lts. 100 * kmts, and I use the converter and I get a lot of MPG. Some one has done their own estimations???
  23. Hi, I think I've got it??? Well, hope you can see it, that's my pathy-terrano in our last climbing. We are at the castle of Penyafort, somewhere in the mountains close to Barcelona. I am going to do a story ilustrated about the "big move". It seems ironic, but the hardest trip we are going to do shall be from Barcelona to Houston by ship¡¡¡. Couse I just said: "not without my pathfinder"¡¡¡
  24. I have fotos in photobucket, I can't post¡¡¡ ??????????
  25. My family and friends can't wait to se it¡¡¡ Yes, the MPG of this car is impressive, it shall be the car for long trips. OK, but now I can not think about trips in the USA, not yet, first I've got something to do. Next month I need to focus on the way to move the car, the "big move". Lots of paperwork, and I need help also about logistics. That's going to be another story¡¡¡ Happy new year everybody
