  1. When sometimes you just have to Jiggle things a bit to get it running again. I use a chunk of 4x4 post to hold my hatch up too haha.
  2. Good luck and take care!
  3. ^^^this^^^ see the maf cleaning sticky for more info. Sound like limp mode, will it go past 3000?
  4. It actually warms up quickly regardless of weather for me just a few minutes at idle or driving. Idle specs are different manual and autos as well.
  5. Just curious about what the cold idle speed is supposed to be, i.e. right after startup until the fast idle cam is in position? Mine is steady at 2000 or so then dropping to about 900, which is close enough to the 800 that is should be for me when warm.
  6. Cleaned TPS harness connections clearing that code, put it back together and hot a maf code, cleaned the maf and connections and did the good old wire Jiggle and now it is back to running great.
  7. Mixture is all computer controlled, checked for codes would be tour beat place to start.
  8. Thanks lol, yeah earlier in the day that was taken the bumper straight fell off and runover and so you may notice the Orange climbing webbing holding is on as well I also sheared off the idler arm on the exit trail, slow trip home that day!
  9. Cool to see so many new Oregon folks on here! Welcome!
  10. I have been lurking around NPORA since I got my 87 in 07. I am a slightly south of Portland guy. This forum have been awesome, helped me through tune-ups, timing belts, lifts electrical issues you name it. My truck is a 1987 XE sitting with a 3+3 on JGC coils and rough country a-arms and 33 bfg at's. Just recently got it running again (last day before the snow melted...) And am looking forward to getting it out on some trails again after not taking it out for a couple years of poor running with no need or time to get it running right again!
  11. There is a temp sensor and a temp sensor. The sensor will not affect the guage if I recall correctly. Where was the one you replaced? Front of the block on the driver side behind the timing cover?
  12. Yes, the ignition coil can produce that issue too, recently replaced mine for that reason.
  13. Check out the stickied TBI parts locations thread in this section of the forum, it should show you where it is. Once you have the air cleaner off you will see it and the dash pot right up front. If you still can't find it let us know. I can take a picture of it this evening.
  14. Yeah, I would have done the same but I unfortunately have to pass emissions eventually... Haha... The juices the system dripped out jacked up my coil brackets and coil as well. Waiting for a break in the weather to hit the junkyard for replacements.
  15. Motorhead, Red Fang or Hank Haggard Cash.
  16. Cool, another Oregon finder! Welcome!
  17. Installed new ignition coil and rehabilitated AIV system complete with new filter. First time driving the truck in a month!
  18. That's what I figured now that I have it all taken apart, it is under a rubber dust cover. Thank you for the clarification. The bracket is crazy rusted, along with all of the bolts that hold it all together... Fun stuff.
  19. Just an FYI, fram ca6851 is a direct fit for the filter for anyone interested in retaining the filter/ aiv setup. It is available through a few online retailers for about twenty dollars. I just ordered one because I couldn't resist tearing the AIV setup apart when I went to check and replace the coil on mine... Haha
  20. So probably a stupid question... But is the ignition control module attached to the coil itself or is it elsewhere. I have looked at every diagram I could get my hands on and haven't found a definitive answer. And also is there a wayto test the functioning of he ICM? I plan on testing the coil and have found the procedure for that.
