  1. So if I got the ecu and wiring harnesses from a 88 Auto pathy, would any newer Auto trans (including the hd) be plug and play?

I swapped out my 88 wiring to a 95 when I installed the 3.3, the wire loom is basically one loom from the head lights to the tail lights, sub looms as follows inst. cluster door wiring, trans wiring, rear hatch, fuel pump and sender, alt loom, and engine feed loom. I think thats all

If your lucky you might be able to splice in to the stock loom. but if it was me I'd go with a loom from an auto and while at it why not go with 95 looms then you could do the 94 95 rounded dash later frt door panels so forth so on

  2. spent all day yesterday working on the 95 it's all together and looks ok, as I was cleaning it up I noticed the outer door

handle on the passenger side is broken will change that out this morning, also drivers side rear door lock not working

from the switch. will pull the rear hatch wind deflecter from the 94 and install on the 95.

parts installed so far left frt fender, headlights, side marker lights, frt turn lights, grill, bumper, and valance? below bumper

  3. bought the 88 and 95 that was in the for sale section drove the 95 home yesterday and started in on the bodywork, think I'll have it all back together tomorrow using the parts off the 94 for the 95 haha same color. the 94 threw a rod so I'll be using engine parts from it for the 88 maybe even swap out the mpi and dash from the 94

  4. there is a difference in the diameter between the 3.3 and the 3.0 you could swap the 3.0 crank over.

Mr 510 isn't making them anymore I know I tried to get one.

I ended up using parts off a 2000 exterra, oil filter base, alt and A/C comp, bracket Ps mount and pump.

you could find a machine shop to turn the 3.0 pulley out to fit the 3.3 crank that would be about the cheapest way to go.

you could try and get in touch with my1path think he still has a connection with Mr. 510 maybe get him to turn out a few more

  5. When the engine in my pathfinder gives up I'm going to swap in a Vg33 from a quest or villager so I have the larger displacement plus the deeper valve reliefs in the pistons so if the belt ever does break I can just spin everything around slap a new belt on and be on my merry way lol

    Sent from inside my potato

what are you going to do about the crank pulley???

  6. it's basically one loom from the headlights to the taillights, separate looms for the engine and dash rear hatch and fuel tank and center console.

I upated my 88 to 95 electrical which was a major job. hopefully you can splice in the bad section. if it's burnt all the way to the fuse panel your in for a major job

  7. got the targa bar lights hooked up and mounted a couple of relays that were loose after the 88 to 95 electrical swap.

88 is back on the road with the 3.3. in her and is she happy with all the new goodies in her :D:D:D

Still have a few more things to do install the passenger side heated mirror, install the alarm module, figure out why the rear hatch release isn't working, and find a drivers side heated seat, and the electrical speedo is off 5mph at 70mph.

I can't believe how much difference there is between the old 3.0 tbi and the 3.3 mpi :dance::dance::dance:

  8. THIS FOR MY 88

if you go with the 3.3 a few things to think about, ps and alt are swapped on the3.3. probably the easiest and cheapest way to go

is have the 3.0 vibration dampner turned out to the 3.3 size. going that way you'll have to swap out the oil filter base from a 2000

exterra to get the proper angle on the filter and you will be able to use the 3.0 mounting brackets, or put the filter over the starter like the 3.0.

I couldn't find a shop local to do my pulley so I swapped a whole 2000 exterra crank pulley and mounts, I did have to swap my A/C

comp to the 2000 but the alt and ps fit alright.

I wanted the rounded dash and I found a 95 pathy at pickapart pulled the dash and the complete wiring from it and installed it in my 88 also using the 95 intake and plemum and 3.3 injectors.

It's been a lot of work but it's running and almost complete

    edit to add

if I had to do it over I'd be almost willing to keep the tbi instead of the mpi

  9. Alright, new Nissan owner here.

Reading through the topics for Power Lock issues on the WD21's but I'm not seeing my exact problem.

Went to unlock the rig with my key (PO never gave me the FOB, just got the rig so I haven't had time to look through the entire thing yet) but the door wouldn't unlock....key turns to the left and right but the lock doesn't go up or down and obviously door won't open, broke the drivers side handle off *rage*, then managed to sneak in through the back gate.

Once in I couldn't even get out of the darn thing, every time I pulled the lock up it re-latched. Snuck back out the gate after popping the hood and pulled the fusible link so the locks have no power, managed to unlock everything manually after that but I'm confused as to why the key does not lock or unlock the doors from outside. Even with the power cut to the locks they don't work from outside..can I not just leave the locks as manual? Do I actually have to replace this silly door lock timer that seems to cause so much frustration?

I haven't had the chance to take the panel off the door yet to have a look and see what's going on in the doors yet, I'm sure I'll be a little smarter once I do that but was hoping for some insight before taking things apart.

    Thanks.

    probably this part #80552-73P00

its the part that holds the lock rod to the door latch

never mind did't read the whole post

  10. back to pap yesterday got the crank pulley, ps pump, and ps pump bracket and the ps adjustment bracket from the 2000 exrerra that I snagged the oil filter mount and alt and alt and A/C comp mount from. got it all installed this morning on the 3.3, still have to get the A/C comp to finish the install. Was able to use the old ps reservoir just had to shorten the return hose

I could have had my old 3,0 crank pulley bored out but the only shop that said they could do it was up in the LA area and it would run about $150.00.

I might try and fire it up this afternoon
