  1. Called about getting my rear diff rebuilt because I just don't have the time to do it myself right now. Their "10+" year tech told me that "I just wouldn't be happy with the result" and that "They just don't do that kind of work over here." Wtf is that? Didn't even mention I also wanted them to do my clutch, I just hung up.

that's why they're called techs instead of mechanics now days. parts replacers.

I never did any rearends while with Nissan did a few trannys, back about 1980 I spent 3 days at a Ford school on 8 3/4 inch rearends, still have my inch lb beambar torque wrench that was used to check the rolling torque.

Excuse the ramblings of an old mechanic :rofl:

  2. Installed thorley headers, "fixed" dipstick issue and was finally able to start the truck up. Damn she sounds mean! Began trying to figure out what to do with the alternator and p/s pump and future belts.

Has anyone else swapped a vg33 in wd21, keeping oil filter in the same spot while also keeping alternator and p/s in vg30 positions? I've not been able to find much on it since everyone tends to keep all accessories from vg30 which I am not doing.

if the filter is straight down it will be in the way of the alt,I swapped the oil filter mount for a 2000 exterra oil filter mount that angles the filter forwards

  3. There's 3 bolts. 2 at the top (one up front, one at the rear) then there's the bottom bolt that goes through the adjustment sleeve/ bracket.

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

what he said, at the top 1 at the front 1 at the back then the bolt at the bottom in the adjuster, 14mm socket on the top ones

  4. not sure if this has been mentioned before on the 3.0 to 3.3 swap, the 3.3 Im doing was an automatic it has a pilot bushing

in the crank for the converter that has to be pulled if your changing over to a stick and the bushing for the stick has to be

    installed.

This one has Jim Conner front suspension and is double shocked on all 4 corners, as I was cleaning it up I collected almost

$10.00 in change, hopefully it will be running by next weekend

  5. If I had a 2 door like yours I'd look for the OEM Targa band light bar. You might even be able to get it brand new by looking around. Its part number 999F3W7000.

With the targa bar you could put on a much larger LED bar. There are a quite a few members here that have them and I think they look amazing.

the leds are bright but the daylighters reach out further same with the 57 series

  6. the plate is between the starter and the block 2 bolts hold it to the block, remove it and start removing the

converter bolts when I did my 88 auto I had everything disconnected and jacked the front of the tranny up

as far as it would go, that gave me enough clearance to clear the flex plate from the bellhousing didn't do

    anything else to the tranny.

I'm working on a 88 5 speed now and I"m going to try and slide the tranny back, hope it works.

    hope this helps

  7. check and see if the oil filter is angled forward, if the alt is on the passenger side its probably just a 3.3 unless the japanese engines are different,

I used the accs from a 2000 exterra alt was on drivers side filter angled forward an ps was on the pass side, onl prob was th A/C

  8. started in on the wiring on the white 88, removed the stock wiring as far as the dash, installed the 94 wiring from taillights to dash.
