  1. I don't see many WD21s in Minnesota, especially ones still in good shape. Most were sacrificed to the road salt god. So it's notable when there is a sighting. The few, the proud ....
  2. Yep, I tool around Twin Cities each week in ahardbody's old '94 SE. Looks much like that, but wasn't me. Guess black first-gen Pathys are still a thing around these parts.
  3. So I had no idea when I bought my '94 that apparently the most valuable part of it is the sunroof shade!
  4. Final update. Odometer started working again for whatever reason. Thinking Adamzan has called it and I have dicey connections.
  5. Minor update. Digital trip odometer went from being illuminated but blank to having information displayed again. Went ahead and reset it. Seems to be working fine again. Main odometer still lifeless. Guessing I'll have to get behind the cluster but it's going to have to wait for some warmer weather.
  6. I'll check. Had other things to do this weekend and since it isn't driveability issue I left it alone. Could be due to cold. First hard winter for this vehicle, as you know.
  7. Started it last night and noticed the electronic trip odometer screen has gone blank. Nothing appears on screen when you move the little nob to try to reset it. My old Pathfinder had the manual trip odometer, so maybe there is a reset step on the electronic one that I'm unfamiliar with. But I'm now suspicious that something decided to short out or something. It does illuminate, just no numbers appear.
  8. Excellent! Thanks for the insight, HB! Black SE sends you a beep-beep hello.
  9. Haven't tried anything yet. Just noticed it while driving today.
  10. Speedometer still works along with everything else except odometer/trip odometer.
  11. All other instrumentation normal, except of course the trip odometer frozen too. Assuming there is a sensor under a wheel well to look at. In the world I'd like to live in I wouldn't have to pull the cluster and futz around behind it. Appreciate your experiences, theories, guidance.
  12. Xterra, Depending on how bad it is, you can live with a rear main seal leak for a good while. Been there, done that. You just have to be more vigilant about oil level and not be picky about oil stains. Not ideal, but we all have to make choices with our money and what things come first.
  13. Curious to know what they quoted you to replace that main seal?
  14. Fired it up today and no problem with idle. Good response to gas pedal. Would seem to confirm issue was related to severe cold. Think you probably called it re the gas lines, Bushie!
  15. Thaw setting in today. Supposed to get up to 21F. Pathfinder set out all night, so will be interesting to see how it behaves when I go to start it. I did recently fill up tank, so bad gas certainly possible. Was also thinking maybe fouled injector.
  16. So we just finished a week of hard cold. Yesterday I fired up the Pathfinder and took my wife to appointment. Probably 15-mile trip. No issues. Stopped at a store afterward. Was in there 30-45 minutes. Came out and started vehicle to find it idling erratically and wanting to die. Nursed it to where it held idle again and drove home. Drove it later to pick up the wife and it did fine except once I had to brake hard because of the guy in front of me and the car died when I did that. Started right up again, tho. Very cold last night -11F. Started it this morning and fired right up and seemed to idle normally but when I tried to pull away it stumbled and bogged down, pulled over and idle was bouncing between 600-900 rpm. Drove in neighborhood for awhile with that same stumbling going on, delayed reaction from hitting gas pedal. Finally it settled down and drove it to work and seemed OK, tho didn't push it beyond 50. No warning lights came on at any time during all this. Parked it in heated garage near work and when I started it after it had sat there for several hours idle and gas response seemed normal. Thoughts? Anyone else seen their vehicle act up that way after being in cold for extended period?
  17. -7 F this morning with wind chill about -40
  18. Believe it's been stated on board before that seat belts came with lifetime warranty. So you can go to dealer and get them replaced for free. It's on my list too.
  19. Nunya, Totally agree about the trustworthiness of the WD21. I've owned the '95 since it was new and it's been the least trouble of any vehicle I've ever had. That's why I bought ahardbody's '94 earlier this year to replace it. I'd love to turn it over to someone who would do something with it besides scrap it, but with the frame rust and a tranny that won't shift into 4th gear (no one who looked at it could figure out why) I doubt there can be any other fate for it.
