Fixed this issue as well. Turned out to be the PCV valve was sucking up oil stuck in the valve cover baffles. What a stupid design. I had to buy a new valve cover and PCV valve. Its apparently a temporary fix.

Fixed this problem. Ended up being a leaf stem stuck in the blower motor. The blower fan stays on for 30 secs after you turn off the truck.

Its blue smoke. Thats very interesting. Any way of verifying that oil is getting into the intake without ripping it off? Which valve cover does she need? Do newer Pathys come with them? Part number?

My sister's 2002 Pathfinder will smoke badly one day and then not smoke at all for 2-3 days. Then go back to smoking so bad it fills up our garage with smoke in a matter of seconds. Local shops can't get it to smoke for them even if they leave the truck idling.

Definately not exhaust. Sounds like a solenoid clicking repeatedly.

There is a rapid ticking rattle coming from the passenger side firewall in the engine bay AFTER the engine has been turned off. Sounds like a solenoid. Rattle lasts 10-15 secs and stops abruptly. What is this?

Ok so the driver side slipped right in. Easy. Only took an hour. The passenger side interferes with...EVERYTHING. Lots of accessories in the way and lots of stuff would have to be re-routed. Its not impossible. Just not fun to do. The shop doesn't have time to take on a project of this magnitude right now so I will have to re-book for next month. Or I might do it myself if I get bored. Shop estimated about a 3-4 days to do it. Both headers clear the firewall no problem. You just take the cats out and you can see everything. Its the lines on the passenger side that make it impossible. For now its a no go but I will try again.

They are a prototype. They are modified 350Z headers. Basically taken a 350Z header and shortened it so it doesn't interfere with the firewall...as much.

It is when everyone claims headers can't be installed on the VQ35DE Pathfinders.

VQ35DE Headers, 2.25" Magnaflow high flow cats, and 2.25" dual exhaust goes into the truck on Monday. Cross your fingers and hope everything fits...

On my rear wheel drive Camaro the drivetrain loss is about 15% and I've dynoed it a lot. I'm guessing its over 20% with a 4x4.

Could a moderator move it for me?

My header company has begun research on making a header specifically for the Pathfinder and are looking for a 2001+ Pathfinder in the Dallas Texas area that they could test fit headers on. If anyone is interested please PM me.

I bought a set of 350Z headers and will probably have to "massage" the firewall and transmission tunnel to make them fit. Worst case scenario I chop off 3-4" and re-weld a flange on. They won't make any pathfinder headers till they secure 20 orders. Otherwise they would charge well over $600 for one set.

I ordered my headers from this particular company. Topspeed aka Pro 1 Headers. http://www.topspeedauto.com/ProductCart/pc...p?idCategory=47 They have sold over 380 pairs of 350z headers and from reading the reviews, most of the customers are very happy with the product. He uses T304 steel and thick tool strength flanges. And you're right, all he is going to do is modify the 350z header to have a shorter collector outlet and point it downward more. The 350Z headers gain 2-3 hp at peak but 9-11 hp in the mid range according to Turbo Magazine who tested some DC Sports headers. These are DC Sports knock offs. The majority of the headers on Ebay are T304 with the exception of a couple that are under $150. But this company only uses T304. I don't think you need to go bigger than 1.50" on the primaries with a Pathfinder. Maybe 1.625" if you go with different cams or a Maxima/350Z/Altima style intake. But this intake seems to produce better low end torque. 240 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 240 ft-lbs. of torque at 3200 rpm (pathfinder) vs 255 Horsepower 5800 rpm and 246 ft-lbs. at 4400 rpm (maxima) vs 287 Horsepower at 6200 rpm and 274 ft-lbs. of torque at 4800 rpm (350z).

Found a company in the states that say they will start making headers for 2001-2004 Pathfinders with the VQ35DE motor for approx $200 u.s. if they get at least 20 orders. Its a reputable company with over 98% positive feedback on their products on Ebay. How many people would buy a set? They would require 50% down.

I don't drive through mud or water. The filter will get dirtier faster but if you clean and oil it on regular intervals there shouldn't be a problem.

Ignore the above post. Neither of those will work. I was under the truck last night and took some measurements. The key to finding a header that will fit is to look for ones that hug the block, have an outlet that points downward (45 degrees preferred), and have a short overall length so as not to interfere with the transmission tunnel/firewall. That being said, I found a short block hugging set of headers that should fit. They are a no name brand off ebay. Just ordered them. Should have them in about 2 weeks and then off to the exhaust shop.

Where is the "4 way thingy"? I cleared the code and it hasn't come back.
