  1. Hi! Sorry if this has already ben covered... I have tried to search for this information, there seems to be e write up somewhere, but i cant find it. Im about to order a sports steering wheel and a steering wheel hub for my Terrano 3.0 V6 1994. Does anyone know diameter and splines on the steering wheel shaft? Im ordering from china and the information regarding dimensions and wehicle fit in English, is not great. It seems to be the same dimensions for Nissan 240sx, Nissan Maxima, Nissan 300zx Nissan King Cab (D21) but im not sure. Thanks for any help i can get!!!
  2. Ok Thanks! Will check with Rockford and/or Stock ones, but original spare parts are crazy expensive over here. One CV boot is around 90USD Aftermarket around 10USD
  3. Hi! Bought a pair of new wheel side CV boots from 4x4 parts a while back. Don't know the brand. One of them is already torn where it sits on the axle, and it has a lot of "dry cracks" all over. The other one seems fine... I wonder if i did something wrong when installing one side ???? Can you recommend any after market brands that will last? Front end is cranked up a bit. Brands available here in Europe are for example: Blue print, Jakoparts, Japanparts, Sakura I read somewhere here that Rockford makes durable boots, but i can't find them over here.
  4. Yeah, the rust has taken most of these trucks, due to weather conditions and salted winter roads. Not many WD21 still rolling. Mine is relatively rust free, but the frame has been repaired several times over the years. How is the conditions over there? i guess the northern states and Canada has similar conditions as us. Yes he completely cut out and rebuilt the frame the last meter or so. Any repairs are ok as long as you pass the annual inspections, which can be a real pain.
  5. The WD21 is his low-budget build while finishing up his "Icelandic edition Nissan Patrol" Why build a Iceland glacier truck here in Sweden, when there are no glaciers you are allowed to drive on??? don't know... but it looks really cool :-) http://www.4x4sweden.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=38803 Last pictures are from a glacier safari on Iceland, those crazy icelandics...
  6. Hi! Just wanted to show you guys a nice Swedish Off Road WD21 build thread. 35" tires with a LOT of fender cutting. It has given me a lot of good ideas and inspiration, hopefully you will like it too. Sorry it's all in Swedish...but lots of nice fabrication pics. http://www.4x4sweden.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=51522
  7. Looks really nice, what size are those wheels? I'm running on 31s now but looking to get 32s or 33s on mine with 3" SL Expecting some fender cutting.
  8. I think it comes mostly from the right wheel. I think the rotors are aftermarket, wheels and nuts for sure... But the rotors was really stuck to the hub when i had them off, so i dont think it is them. I will search on. And try to adjust the shoes.
  9. Yes! that is exactly how the sound occures. It dissapears when only rolling forward, then occures again when rolling backwards. The faster i roll the louder the sound. And also at a stand still with the brake engaged, i can still move the car back and fourth a bit with a "klonk" at the ends
  10. Hi! I will try to explain this problem in english the best i can: I have rear disc brakes on my WD21 Terrano 3.0 1994. If i engage the parking brake when rolling forward there is a loud "klonk" sound before the brakes apply. Same thing if i am rolling backwards. When standing still with the parking brake engaged i can still move the car back and forth a bit, with a klonk sound when the brakes apply.. The whole brake shoe assembly seems to be moving around with the rotor/ drum until the shoes reaches a stop and makes the klonk sound. I have had the rotors or discs off and checked the parking brake assembly, but i cant see any obvious problem. The shoes could be moved around a bit, Al the parts seemed to be in place according to the Chilton manual Is this normal? I am having the truck to the annual check upp soon and i dont think it will pass with that sound.
  11. Hi! Thanks to yhis tread i finally got around to start building a new front bumper for my Terrano. Thanks for posting those pictures Precice1!!! I am using the same mounting points as the ARB bumper. For the lower M10 monting pionts i have used 10x60mm steel bars. I am also using the "ears" under the frame, and the original front bumper brackets as mounting points. I will also bolt a 5mm steel plate between the new recovery points as skid plate, hopefully it will also take some of the load... What do uou think? will it hold up??? Left to do: Some testpulls and some finishing touches and paint. Before mounting a winch.
  12. Hi! I have two ticking noices comming from my engine, a v6 3.0 1994. I know there is a lot to read here regarding this, but i cant find the specific answers im looking for. Maybe it's because i'm swedish and my tech english is not the best. Firtst ticking noice sounds like the hydrualic lifters, it comes and goes when warming up, but then goes away when engine is warm. I'm running on 10W-40 oil. Is there any reason to be worried? The second ticking noice i think comes from the exhaust manifolds or leaking exhaust pipes. I first had a cold start ticking noice that went away when warming up, i thought it was a broken stud, but when checking them, all studs where ok, but wery loose. I thightened them all down a bit and the cold start ticking sound went away, but it is still there when accellerating. I found a small exhaust leak at the Y-pipe that i fixed, but the annoying ticking noice is still there when accelerating. I have looked through the exhaust system and found no more leaks. Could it be the manifold gaskets that needs to be changed?
  13. That is far up north!...i'm from a small village in the south of sweden near the west coast. I'm actually half finish myself, but sadly never learned to speak finish. I saw that you might have found a factory wheel swing. Here are some pics of my DIY swing if any one else is interested. I don't have great fabrication skills, so it does not look that great, but it functions really well. Kept the full length of the swing arm to maybe add a jerry can or something.
  14. I forgot to mention... I think there is a special ball bearing hinge you can order from the US that is made for tire swings. You weld it on the rear bumper.
  15. Cool truck jamba! Is that 33" wheels? What kind of lift do you have? Did you have to cut the fenders to fit those wheels? What kind of fender flares is that? I also notice that you have reinforced the tresholds and cut of the rear corners. I have the "iron worm" in my rear corners and planning to cut them out, your idea looks great! I will post some pics of my tire carrier, maybe you can use some ideas from that. Where in Finland are you from?
  16. Terve jamba! Thanks! Good to see another Scandinavian here! I used 5x5cm beam, i think 3mm thick for welding the sparewheel carrier. I then used a long M16 bolt through the previously built rear bumper that was made of 10x5cm beam. For the locking mechanism i used a Biltema trailer hatch lock and a safety sprint. A rubber pad on the back door keeps it from shaking. If you want i can take some detailed pictures. I think there is a thread here how to fit a original spare carrier on a truck that did not have one from factory. If you can get hold of a carrier on a scrap yard or something...
  17. Hi! Just wanted to show you an alternative roof rack installation. It's an old aluminium rack for a Volvo 245 from the 1980's. Recycling! I think it turned out pretty nice... Not super sturdy but it serves it purpouse as a light mount right now. I will add a pair of extra feet in the middle. I also mounted two LED 42w.
  18. Ok thanks! But are you sure about the negative camber? On 4x4parts.com they say 0.1 - 1.0 positive camber, my Chilton manual also says positive camber.
  19. Maybe you are right! I think i will get the left wheel within spec, as close to the right wheel as possible, see if that helps. Then try to find a shop that can do this properly. For a shop with the right equipment it can't be rocket science????
  20. Hi! I also have the 4x4parts UCA installed and t-bars cranked pretty high. After the install i let a shop do a "complete alignment" of the front end. When i got the car back i noticed that it pulled slightly to the right so i contacted the shop again and found out that the had only done a toe in/out alignment. I told them about the shims on the UCA but the did not seem to care at all what i said. Now i have tried to look at the camber alignment a bit myself since it started to weare the tires. I put the car on a flat place then used a "water level" (not sure about the english word) and then measured the difference at the bottom and top of the rim. Ok i know this is probably not dead accurate but it gave me an indication. On the right wheel i had 4mm positive camber, using a trigonometry calculator i got that to about 0.6 degrees positive camber. I read that the camber should be adjusted to 0.1 to 1 degrees positive, same on both wheels. On the left wheel i had 2mm negative camber, which i got to 0.3 degrees negative camber. This would explain the tracking to the right...right???? So the right wheel should be ok, and the left wheel should be shimed out 6mm(!) at the top of the rim. Can someone please give some input on my teories, am i on the right track here? I im planning to borrow a laser level and try do the allignment as god as possible. One more thing, i did not mark up the inner side on the rod that mounts the UCA to the frame when installing the new ones. Is it important which side mounts to the frame? Could that explain the big camber difference? A lot of text, probably in bad english....sorry! /hagge
  21. My children calls it the "Terranosaurus", the boy loves the car, the girl hates it. The girl rather rides in my wifes Skoda Octavia ...girls are strange.

    Off road

Sounds great and the links looks amazing! I have been to florida a couple of times but i think there is so much moore to see and do in north america. I live in a small village in Småland, (the region that had most emigrants to the US in the 18- hundreds), its old forest and farm country. I have limitless access to small gravel roads in big forest areas, but the roads are to nice :-) i could just as well take the wifes Skoda Octavia. Whenever i get the chance i also sneak out off road, but i have also got my picture taken with game cameras. A bit embarasing when you later meet the land owner in the supermarket... The closest thing to your off road trails is in Denmark where you can actually drive for many miles on the Northsea beaches. Some day when i get rich i will come over and buy a 4x4 and drive from coast to coast with as much off road as possible :-)

    Off road

Hi! It seems like you have endless possibilities to go off road in parks and on trails in the US. If i understand correctly you can even go on trails into some of your national parks???? How does that work, do you need a special permit for that? Or could I as a tourist rent a truck and just go ahead? Here in sweden we are very limited as where we can drive off road. There are clubs, that have spcial permits to use small off road areas, and arranges driving a few times a year. You can go by foot and camp where ever you want, even on private properties, but its strictly forbidden to drive off road. /H
