  1. I have a 1994 pathfinder with the radio and seperate cd player. The cd player doesn't work, but I would like to keep everything as original as I can b/c the pathfinder is in great condition inside and out. I was wondering if any other year Nissan model radios would fit my 1994. I viewed some newer model Nissan radios online and they look like they may fit. I saw a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder oem radio and cd player in one that seem like it would fit. Buy looking online and actually seeing the radios I know is different. I have called several salvage yards in my area and they none of them had any. I have a 1997 Nissan hardbody and it has the exact same dashboard as the 1994 Pathfinder. So, I assume a D21 radio and cd player would fit the Pathfinder. But I was wondering if or any newer Nissan radios and cd players would fit the Pathfinder. I know I would run into wiring troubles, but I think I could handle the job. Thanks
  2. Well I trully thank everyone who responded to the post (SERIOUSLY). Now I have a starting point and if one suggestion doesn't work I will move on to the next. When I get it fixed I will let you know what it was. Thanks
  3. I have a 1994 Pathfinder LE. When I bought the Pathfinder it had brand new (factory type) tires on the back and fairley new all terrian tires on the front. As soon as I got it home I put the all terrain tires on the back and the new tires on the front. Ever since the swap the new tires (or I believe it maybe the tires) between 55mph and 70-75mp shake like crazy. The entire steering column shakes at these speeds. But up to 50mph it drives fine. There is no pulling to the left or right just the shimming and shaking. Well after yesterday driving a good distance on the interstate I am determined to find out what is wrong. I have jacked the Pathfinder up in the past and tried to find anything that loose, but couldn't find anything. The Pathfinder only has 79,000 miles on it. But I know things such as bushings and anything rubber under the front end could be damaged due to age. The first thing I was going to do was get the front tires re-balanced. But I thought I would run this problem by the good people of this forum who have in the past saved me a lot of time and money on this Pathfinder. So, any ideas as to why it shimmies and shakes the steering wheel b/t 55-75mph would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. Thanks I figured the the mud flaps would be an issue. These sort of Pathfinders were made for people who didn't off road much. B/C it has every option you could put in a wd21 pathfinder. First I will look around at some local junk yards. I would probably be more likely to find flares and mud flaps off of a Hardbody 4x4. Where I live the used pathfinder parts are hard to find. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who responded to my post.
  5. Back in August I bought a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder LE. It is really good condition. Only 73,000 miles on it when I bought it. No rust what so ever. It even had the original window sticker in the glove box. Someone paid $32,000 for it new. I paid $2,300 for it . The guy I bought it from left a book that had a list of what all was serviced. The book listed timing belt, plugs, 2 new tires, etc. Well this is my question It did not come from the factory with the black fender flares and to me it looks kind of weird without them. I also have a 1997 Nissan Hardbody 4x4 with the factory fender flares. The Pathfinder has factory painted mud flaps that are way different than my Hardbody and most wd21 pathfinders I have seen. I was wondering (without having to take a flare of my hardbody) if anyone knew if the fender flares will fit around the Pathfinder's mud flaps. It doesn't look like it to me. But I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this sort of thing. Thanks
  6. Sorry about not getting back sooner but I have been out of town for four days. In the pictures and info you have above. Does the lights on the on the heated seats have to be lite up in order for them to work? Thanks for the reply and the detailed response. brc
  7. Hi, I psted a couple of weeks ago about my heated seats not working in my 1994 Pathfinder LE. The passenger side heated seats button on the center console lights up, but the driver's side does not light up. I tried them out one cool morning this week and niether seat works. At the fuse panel the heated seats fuses are not blown. I was wondering if anyone knew what powered the heated seats. I mean are there fuses under the seats that could be blown? Where does the power for the heated seats come from? I have got everything working on this Pathfinder since I bought it a couple of months ago. I have no experience with heated seats and I don't want to cause more trouble or mess up anthing that is working by fooling around with the seats. Down here in South MS it doesn't get very cold. But this was the last thing to tackle and get working. I would appreciate anyone's ideas or comments. I want to thank the people who have responded to my previous post about other things and to this forum which both have saved me a lot of time and money. Thanks, brc
  8. Thanks for all of the info. I will try everyone's reply and then let you know what happened. Talking about a burnt out bulb. I bought a 2002 Ford F150 a couple of years ago and the air bag light would keep flashing. I learned from a Ford Forum that the number of times it flashed was a code. Come to find out that where you turn the passenger airbag on and off it was supposed to light up depending on which way it was turned. When you cranked the truck up the computer would run a safety check and when it got the on/off air bag switch with a buned out bulb it would trigger the airbag warning light. I was told by alot of the people on the forum to go to radio shack and get a new bulb. I took the air bag on/off switch apart and wired in the new bulb and like magic it fixed it. I priced a whole new switch and it was either close to a $100.00 or over. But a $2.00 bulb and some advice from people was priceless. This forum has already saved me a lot of time and money with all of your advice. I trully appreciate the time and effort everyone makes in answering my posts. Thanks again, brc
  9. Well I have got a lot accomplished on my 1994 Nissan Pathfinder LE I purchased about two months ago. I replaced the front bumper and bumper brackets, got the blinkers to working, fixed the cruise control (with help of this forum), fixed the flickering doors open light on dash (with the help of this forum), rotated the tires, changed oil, and replaced 4x4 cv boots. So, I have got a lot accomplished. But I still have two things to check off my list. I have leather heated seats. On the center console the passenger side heat seat lights up. But I really can't tell if it is working b/c it has been so hot down here in South MS. The driver's side seat does not light up at all. I starter to buy a service manual at the parts store the other day when I was getting the cv boots, but they were almost $30.00 and I have spent enough money so far. I started to take the driver's side seat out but with all of the wires and computer boxes under it I didn't want to make things worse. So, if anyone has any ideas that I could start looking or testing for it would be greatly appreciated. The next thing is the security system. I haven't even turned it on b/c I read somewhere where it could disengage the starter. But a few days I did turn it on to see if it would work. I turned it on and the red light would not come on or flash. I read in the seperate manual that came with the owner's manual and it looks like you would need a seperate thing that goes with the key to make it work (which the previous owner must not have had one). But I also read in the manual that you could turn it own and if the alarm went of you could turn if off by putting the key in the door and unlocking it. So, if anyone has any ideas on why it wouldn't work I would appreciate it. I have googled my computer to death trying to find some info. on these two problems and really couldn't find anything. Thanks, brc
  10. Thanks for the info. I had no idea that both generations of the Pathfinders had the same frame length. I guess I have never seen a 1987-1989 and a 1990-1995 side by side. You all did aswer my confusion. THANKS. brc
  11. O.K. for about two months now I owned my 1994 Pathfinder LE. I also have a 1997 Regular Cab Nissan Hardbody 4x4 (had it for 15 years.) I have noticed that when you park the Pathfinder and the Regular cab Hardbody side by side they are exatly the same size bumper to bumper. I know the Pathfinder came from the Hardbody. But I figured that the 1987-1989 having only two doors would be the same size as a regular cab Harbody. But from 1990-1995 since they were made only in four door versions they would be based on the extended cab frame of the Hardbody to accomodate for the two back doors. Can anyone explain? Just confused. brc
  12. You were right the ascd rubber stopper was missing. I took the one out of my 1997 Nissan Hardbody 4x4 (the one that works the brake lights). Put it in the Pathfinder drove it down the road and cruise worked perfectly. Had to put the rubber stopper back in the Hardbody b/c the brake lights stayed on. I found something around the shop to replace the rubber stopper in the Pathfinder. Just got back from town had to hit the interstate and the cruise worked perfectly. I really wanted to thank you so much for your advice. I never would have guessed it would be something as simple as a rubber stopper. Thanks, brc
  13. Yea I searched the forum about the flickering lights. Just went outside and shimmed the back rear door lock with washers. Drove it donwn the road and no more light flickering. BOY THE FORUM IS GOOD . So, I will just have to keep trying and working the cruise control. I really don't use cruise control. This is actually the first vehicle I've owned that has it. I just like having everthing work especially when it worked a few weeks ago. I guess it's just an OCD thing.
  14. I checked all of the connections to the brake pedal, the cruise control module, vaccum lines. I think I may have a clue as to why the cruise may not be working. The door's open icon has been flickering on the dash board even though all the doors are closed. When you hit a pot hole or rough road it flickers even more. So, I assumed a short. But driving the Pathfinder today I noticed all the flickering would stop when I applied the brakes. I am betting this is messing up the cruise control. But I just don't know how to fix it. brc
  15. Thanks for everyone's response. I will probably do the job myself to save some cash. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks brc
  16. I have a 94 Nissan Pathfinder with only 75,000 miles on it. It was garaged kept and doesn't have any frame rust. Thing is when I bought the Pathfinder about a month ago I could tell one of the CV boots on the four wheel drive shaft was cracked pretty bad. But I just tested out the four wheel drive to make sure it worked. When I got home jacked it up and got underneath it I noticed that both passenger and driver side boots were cracked. I just learned this morning by looking at diagrams that ther are actually four boots. I have read the steps and instructions on how to replace the boots. I even have diagrams to go with it. It looks like it may be over my head. Has anyone put new boots on? How difficult of a process is it? I have auto locking hubs. I want to take this thing off road bad. But I surely don't want to mess the axles up. I can afford the boots right now but can't afford taking it to someone to fix it. I have a large shop with plenty of tools in it. But I am just afraid of messing things up. B/C I have never done anything like this before. I mean I have the directions and diagrams but thats all. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, brc
  17. I have always wanted a 94-95 Nissan Pathfinder b/c all I have ever owned are Nissan Hardbody pickups. I like the 94-95 models b/c my current 1997 Nissan Hardbody 4x4 has the same dashbord. Also the 1995 Nissan Pathfinders and older are built on a frame unlike the newer unibody design. I just purchased my 1994 pathfinder LE about a month ago. Well a little info on my 1994 Pathfinder LE. It has 75,000 original miles the interior looks brand new. It has all the bells and whistles. Leather, heated seats, sunroof, auto locking hubs. Mostly things that I don't need and will tear up . The only thing that was wrong with it was the front bumper was dented in pretty bad. I bought a new bumper and brackes and istalled it myself. When I first purchased the Pathfinder about a month ago on the interstate going home I began to test and come familar with all the buttons and gadjets. On the way home the cruise worked fine. Several trips hear and there after I got home cruise still worked fine. Now all of a sudden after I put the new bumper on it quits. You can push the green button on the dash and it lights up but when you push the set button on the steering wheel no cruise and the cruise control light on the instrument panel does not light up. No blown fuses. I am aware that the cruise is some how linked in with the turn signals and headlights and they all work fine. I have gotton a diagram or instructions as to where the cruise contron module is underneath the dash and where the ascd plugs into the brake pedal. I cheked the vacum lines to the throttle they are fine. I took apart the switch on the steering wheel and just cleaned it and that did nothing. I am aware that there is a cable that attaches to transmission. My question is what do I need to check and see if all the components I listed above works. I feel that it has to be something electrical b/c the cruise control worked before I installed the new bumber and now it doesn't work. Right now all I have is a test light but I can get other electrical tools if needed. Any advice would be appreciated and I am glad to be a new member.
