the lines went back on just as they were when i pulled them off but im curious about how to check the levels every thing I research says check levels while truck is running , but the owners manual says to check while the engine is cool for at least 30 minutes after driving. which do I do ?

ok so the smog results good news is I passed WHEW! By rock_jock11 at 2012-09-14 anyway the bad is I passed by 1 point on the HC at 25mph and by 3 points on the 15 mph test , but my timing was at 9 degrees BTDC so my question here is . IS the high HC from the retarded timing as it was not burning off the fuel? so my transmission question is this , when I had to drill and retap and replace a broken stud on my exhaust manifold I removed the radiatior, ( I didn't know that tranismission fluid flow through the radiator) so I lost so fluid. I moved the truck today from back yard to front yard forgetting about the fluid loss, the transmission had a hard time going into gear , so I added 1 and 1/4 of ATF and now it will engage all the gears but it now seems like it engages gears while driving at a higher RPM then it did before the fluid loss from removing the radiator. mind you I only drove it from the back yard to the front yard ( about 60 feet) so my question is did i just not put enough fluid back in ?

nope the idle is running solid at 700 rpms I have checked everything again , and seems to be running ok, ca to go pass the smog today so please put the good vibes out there so I can pass , will update tonight with results godd or bad . thanks again guys

I took off the alternator the air conditioning compressor, the bracket that holds the compressor, the radiator , the fan, the fan shroud, and I put all the bolts and items in back in reverse order, on another note its not smokeing anymore. so maybe it was just some fluids being burned off after removing everything

So I had a new muffler put on yesterday as the old one had three holes in , and the muffler shop pointed out that I have an exausht leak. so I got up this morning noticed that one bolt on the drivers side manifold was not there. long story short I spent the whol day(15 hours) taking various things off so that I could drill and tap out hole for a new stud, I got everything back together and now I have a high idle and smoke. what gives? can someone point me in the right direction on what to check next? on a good note its not ticking from the exhaust leak anymore. I like this truck but it's pissing me off

ok first off when my truck has a quarter tank of gas its actully empty and dyes. any idea what would cause the gauge to stop working at 1/4 tank? second my left high beam was not working and now when i go to high beams , sometimes obnly the right one works and other times the both will not come on I have replaced the lights , any ideas on where to start here? thanks guys

not a problem first take off the aircleaner and disconnect the hoses attached, find somthing to hold the spring back that the wax element is attached to and unscrew the three screws, DO NOT LOSE THE THREE BLACK SPACERS sorry it was important . anyway i was told that the wax element would pull out I however found out that was easier said then done. all I was told buy the nissan dealer was to get the part out anyway i could with out damaging the housing . if you need more help I will go take pictures of my truck for you if you think it will help

i did replace the part lol but the problem was the wax element that was the old was so siezed in there that I had to use a drill and a hacksaw to cut it out trying my best to not damage the housing BUT I acidently drilled a bit of the side where the new part when in and it started leaking coolant from where it should not have been , so I pulled it jb welled the crap out of it and reinstalled then waited for it to dry , over night , fired it up this morning and no leaks works great , im happy.

not a problem glad I could help for once lol instead of sponging info from you guys . OH truck update . JB weld is holding . fires up nice , idles at 1100 rpms warms up drops to about 750-800 rpms when i put it in (D) it drops to about 650-700 rpms. thanks again guys for your usefull intel . next project the muffler , which I have discoverd has a 3 small holes in it.

the part number i gave you was the part number on the nissan box that i got from maita nissan here in sacramento , it was $97.00 +tax . thats weird that he couldn't find it . if you want call MAITA NISSAN here in sacramento Ca ,(916) 486-8743 . and ask for the parts department im sure he will know what it is .

ok next question. my headlights work fine but when i put the high beems on only the passenger side high beem turns on. I swaped the bulb on the drivers side but it still doesnt work . any idea on whats causing th high beem on the driver side to Not work?

aharbOdy is right I went to the dealer. the part number is 16391-12G00 just call it in. word of cautiion though mine was Insane to get out so have patience , but it fixed my problem ( as far as I know) . lol anyway I posted some pics in the gallery so you all can take a look at it . And to anyone interested I'm looking for a light bar so if anyone local wants to trade for some tattoo work let me know . thanks again for everyones help so far

ok so good news thanks to all who replied and help with the problem , the wax was the issue. how ever, since it took everything but anact of god to get the old one out the unit started leaking coolant from around the top of the wax unit. so i jb welded that as well and now i have to wait untill tommarow for that to dry . BUT on a good note before i discovered that it was leaking , it idled at 1100 rpms. warmed up dropped to about 750 rpms. retimed the truck to 13 BTDC and so now its a waiting game to figure out if it will work. , thanks again guys I will keep you posted

I have to wait untill tommarrow to do it . because I accidently put a small hole in in the back of the housing by trying to get the old wax unit out. but im jb welding it now so i will see in the morning what happens

I bout a new wax unit today im just trying to figure out how to install it without meesing anything up yeah mine must have been the original because it took a hacksaw a drill and about 3 hours to get the old one out

ok this is the part that I was talking about . I dont know what it is called. but I took a picture of it for you . as you can see this has two nipples for coolant lines and than a metal plunger, that plunger is what i was taling about, that was sticking and now moves in and out, also can someone please tell me what this part is called ?
