  1. but that is mainly just going to effect the speed it thinks i'm driving just like bigger tires right? Anyways, the speed sensor was replaced by a mechanic with the P/O about a year and a half ago. I still have the receipt for it but I tried switching speedo clusters and it didn't fix the jumpy speedo. Then the speedo up and died for about 10 seconds the other day and a CEL came on making me think that the speed sensor died again and that something is causing it to go bad. here is a picture of the break down where it has the pinion in case anybody else thinks i'm crazy. 32703 is the pinion
  2. oh, also I'm assuming HB and Pathy would be the same thing? that's why I didn't specify in the title but maybe i'm wrong. The only difference between part code is a Y instead of a P. And also has anyone replaced the pinion and ring lock for the pinion? I'm wondering if that's why this speed sensor has worn out so fast or not working at all
  3. I can find several different sites selling several different types of sensors and it seems like some of them are listed as universal between manual and auto, 4wd and 2wd, etc... I just want to make sure that i'm ordering the right thing instead of the cheapest thing. I can find this for about 55 bucks http://www.ebay.com/itm/94-95-Nissan-Pickup-Truck-D21-Hardbody-V6-3-0L-Vehicle-Speed-Sensor-VSS-/310364107309?fits=Year:1995|Make:Nissan|Model:Pickup&hash=item484324722d&item=310364107309&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr#ht_1738wt_1392 or there are some that actually specify that it's 4wd auto for like 136 on rock auto. Any help on this topic? Thanks again for all the help i've been getting lately
  4. UNCC I think I ran a trail with you at GONE 11'. I recognize the multicolor body panels haha. If I remember correctly you were having tie rod problems? I was in a silver 1st gen X
  5. Briefly the speedo cut out all together and the CEL came on for about 10 seconds so I'm thinking it is the sender Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  6. Right on thanks B Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  7. I took out the mounts and for now it is just going to be rigged in place with zip ties. Probably figure out something more permanent after I decide whether or not I should home brew a snorkel. I've seen some pretty good ones for xterras and they are not much different Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  8. Ok sweet thanks for the lead! Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  9. sorry I should have specified, I own a 95 Hardbody. This is just the best forum even though i'm not a pathy! I guess I didn't look under the box much... do you mean like chop the mounts for it? Thanks
  10. my searches between here and 4x4parts and google are not getting me any options. Has anybody made a solution to the extreme angle that isn't home brewed out of ABS plastic? Maybe I just didn't search for the right key words but hopefully someone has the answer for me. Thanks, Brady
  11. Yeah apparently there is, it's also giving me incorrect rpm readings. I hit 8000 rpms today Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  12. well I realized that the airbag light is on with the new cluster I got, and I don't have that option. So i'm going to return the new cluster anyways. I guess I need to find someone with an ohm-meter then or borrow one from the shop on base,
  13. i've followed the harness the whole way up with nothing looking out of the ordinary. Perhaps I just got another bad cluster?
  14. so if both the cluster and the speed sensor have been replaced and the speedo is still failing what is the next step?
  15. I know there are 100 threads about speedometers, and i've already tried the typical solution of replacing the instrument cluster and the speed sending unit was professionally replaced by the PO. I can't find any other options for solutions besides that. Is there any help out there? cruise control is not functioning. Temp/Gas/Tach all work, and no CEL are present. I also tightened the screws on the back of both of the clusters that i've had in to try and fix it with no luck. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Brady
