This thread is depressing
-
Exhausts get too got for any paint I think, and even if you could paint it they typically rot from the inside out.
-
Looks great man, I really like what you've done to your truck. can you post more pics of the plastidip job? and post up pics and info when you do the big 3. I've done that on another car I had in the past and would like to do it again on my pathy.

I received my decals from Fleury and my wife is now calling me a hill billy for wanting to put the pathfinder decal across the windshield.
On any other car, I totally agree that it's super lame to do that, and I personally make fun of people in honda civics (no offense to any civic owners) that put great big Honda decals on their cars. But I find for an off-roader, it's much more appropriate and actually looks good IMO. Looks like I'll just have to wear the flame suit at home for a while lol.
I don't get your reasoning here. Why is it lame on a civic and not a pathfinder? What exactly about it being an offroader makes a model decal more appropriate?

Mine rotted clean through at that same spot twice already. The first time was 3 years ago and I paid a garage 100 bucks to weld it back together. The second time was a month ago and I bought direct fit replacement parts from rockauto for everything behind the cats and bolted it all on in my driveway. I'm hoping these new parts will last longer than the last fix did, but for now the shiny new pipes make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

As others have said, drive the car up on some ramps, pull the hand brake and have someone rev the engine in park while you slide under and locate the source.

I have the ome springs with spacers and 2 bolts per side at maximum settings doesnt quite acheive 0 camber, but very close.

Lol oops I didn't realize it was you in that thread... facepalm

maybe it's just me, it looks like the grill on the qx4 bulges out and the pathy is flush. I think the bumper will look weird. you will also have a nissan logo in front and infiniti in back.

I definitely love my R50, Just saying that for the needs he described the 4runner sounds better. Both would be good choices though, I should have said look for both until you find that sweet deal.
-
best advise- get a 4runner. loads of cargo space and great performance out the box.

Oh yeah? Pm me if you come to Scotia on a weekend, we can go wheelin.

You just need to buy pre flared 3/8 brake line in the approximate length you need. Make sure the threads on the fittings are metric and not imperial or it will leak. Then you bend them to shape, which is really the part I struggled with. It would be awesome if you could buy them pre shaped, then it would be so easy just screw them in and bleed the brakes.
If you do change one I recommend that you tape up the fittings during the bending and fitting until the moment you screw them in. Dirt got in my line and all in the threads and I had to start over with a new line.

Here's how I'm driving it for now
Headlight is fixed, I got really lucky that it was only cracked in a couple places. A JY replacement is $500
Brake line is fixed. I've never changed a brake line before.. what a PITA!
The steering wheel is crooked, not surprisingly. My camber bolts just came in the mail friday so It was going in for an alignment anyway. But other that that it drives straight and everything seems fine. Making progress.

Thanks for the support everyone! I will continue to update this as the repair progresses. and Karmann the jack is the stock jack that came with the truck.

No need for a snorkel. I'm building it like an expedition rig, I generally try to avoid mud and water. The spacers came from ebay and thanks for the kind words, It's really out of necessity that I'm doing it myself though, lol.

Looks good, the trimming seems pretty tame, similar to what I recently did. I still think the 18s and tires are hotness

The rebuild so far:

That fender looked pretty salvageable .
No way... it's crumpled all to hell. Plus I could see afterwards that under the flare was completely rotted.
How'd that happen?
Drove it into a pole at low speed. brake line blew and foot went to the floor.
Bummer. That is a list that I would like to keep my name off of.
I felt the same way whenever I saw a post like this one. I never thought it would be me.
The A-arm looks toast just from the rust...
True that.
I blame the cat.....
-
bummer, thanks man

Can anyone tell me if the bumper reinforcement for a 01-04 pathfinder and 01-03 qx4 is the same? I need to replace mine and I can only find pathy ones in the scrapyards.
-
...of members who've crashed their pathys
A-Arm is toast:
And somehow I ruptured a brake line in the BACK!
Can anyone help me with the part name and number for the steel brake line that broke? It's the line that goes into the rubber line to the axle.
I have a new control arm coming tomorrow, and a new fender on Monday. I think I can save the headlight. sigh.
