Failed to take get it to move, trying to cut across a small tract of land in my neighborhood, where an electrical transmission tower chain goes through. No traction on any wheel in wet grass. I did get it to back up, though, that was good. Ended up slinging mud everywhere, taking the normal route back home. I swear, never a dull moment in these trucks.

He says something about wanting to go back to the first generation, in terms of sales. But the only way to do this is to do what the first generation Pathfinder did. It filled a role no other Nissan could lay claim to, and it did it more cheaply than the competition for that role. This new Pathfinder doesn't do either of those. First off, it shares roles with the Quest and Murano, and is even on the same platform as the Altima, Maxima, and Murano. Second, it's the flagship SUV model, so it's expensive. There are a number of better cars for what this does, for less money. It will not sell well, I can almost guarantee this. What I want to know is why they even call it Pathfinder? It shares no similarities to the Pathfinder that it doesn't also share with, say, the old Stanza Wagon. In fact, it has more in common with a Stanza Wagon than a Pathfinder. Maybe I could understand if it had some styling cues that threw back to the Pathfinder. The door handles, for blatantly-obvious example. I kind of see how they tried to keep the fender flares and the flow into the door panels from that, but that's the only cue I recognize from the Pathfinder, and even that is sort of a generic SUV feature anyway. I have no problem with Nissan creating a new crossover/station wagon, but I take offense at it being called a Pathfinder. All I can say is, it will not sell as well as the original Pathfinder, because it doesn't offer any benefit over alternatives, like the Pathfinder did originally. Nissan, you make me sad.

Put it in 4L on a whim and started off in 4th gear. Accelerated faster than the Civic next to me. Lolled. I love this truck. I LOVE this truck

Yeah, a 12V power outlet. I hesitate to say cigarette lighter, because the one I have has a plastic plug that says "12V DC" instead of a cigarette lighter to plug into it. All the same, really. Anyway, you have a '94, so you have the updated interior, and I can't much help you out there, but I do know it's typically not hard to add a plug. No reason to relocate, really. Just add a second one, then you maintain functionality across the board. Use the new one, for convenience, and you don't have to worry about a hole to be plugged. Also, should it ever come up, you have 2 sockets. Buying a new socket is like $5 at Walmart, or if you're a sneaky bad person, free at a salvage yard. Just pull it out of the console, slip it in your pocket, walk out. If you decide to pay for it(and you should), can't cost you more than $3. Some yard owners will just say they don't care, especially if you're buying a lot of other things. (This is how I procured the socket I have at the moment) Anyway, to wire it in, run a wire to 12V Ignition or Accessory switched, with an inline 10A fuse, and the other wire to any good ground, and you're set. Drill a hole in whatever you want it mounted to, and push it into place. Maybe use some sort of adhesive. That's my plan. I had an aftermarket head unit from the S12, so I put that in there. Plenty better than the Clarion unit that was in there when I bought it, which is better than the factory radio. I have the FM transmitter, and the radio and I'm satisfied for now. Before I get a new head unit, I plan on bypassing the factory amps, and adding some subwoofers for the hell of it. (That is, if I can get this one guy's 12inch Pioneers he's selling for $25 apiece) You shouldn't use Windex on car windows. Windex contains chemical solvents, which degrade the temperlite material on automotive windows. Grandma windexed the Saturn windows, and screwed 'em up. Use an automotive-safe cleaner for that. Soap and water to get grime, then, like RainX to shine it. That's what I do. More expensive, but it makes sure my windows stay nice for a long time. Anyway, I nearly spun out the Pathfinder today. It's been raining all day, for the first time in awhile, so the roads are slick. I've been driving the Saturn a lot, previous to this, so I'm used to how FWDs handle in rain. So I'm coming to a redlight and I always downshift and engine brake when I stop, it's a habit. Unfortunately, I was coming on it too fast to revmatch first. So I feathered the clutch to force a match. It's rougher, but it always works in the Saturn. And then the rear wheels locked because the difference in engine speed and rear wheel speed was greater than traction could account for. And I start spinning. Of course, I caught it, but man I feel stupid for forgetting that. So I drove home in 4H the rest of the way. Definitely felt a lot more stable. What's the 4H torque-split on these trucks, or at least, where can I find that?

The frequency at which I have people in the back is minimal. Besides, I need a second port, so I can keep my phone's battery charged, while using my FM transmitter to listen to music because I'm too cheap to buy a radio with an input jack lol And yeah, I'm probably gonna pull the dash before I do anything, just to be sure. Thought I'd ask anyway. Eh, no problem, really. The key I use works for everything but the rear window, and there's a lock switch in the cockpit for that. Not that I open the rear window, since its struts are out. In any case, there's a stark lack of keys still in ignition at the yards here, let alone 1990-93 Pathfinders with keys still in ignition. And I can't afford to buy all those locks, anyway. I'm cheap and poor lol

Messed around with the keys the last owner gave me. Interesting findings. There's 1 OEM ignition-style key, 2 walmart-cut 37R keys, and an OEM door lock/glovebox key. One of the walmart keys matches the OEM key, and the other is an oddball. The glovebox key is also oddball, for obvious reasons. But here's where it gets weird. The oddball walmart key opens the front door locks, the glovebox, and cycles the ignition tumbler. But it doesn't unlock the rear window. Same for the glovebox key (except ignition of course). The other 2 keys don't do anything BUT unlock the rear window. I don't get it. I have all these keys and only one is at all useful. The one that looks like it'd be is basically useless, for that matter. Anyway, I'm thinking of installing another 12V socket in the Pathfinder, simply because I have a socket from an old Altima. I'm thinking next to the A/C controls. Anything behind them I should know about before I start punching holes?

In my experiences with quick lube places, as long as you don't go to Walmart, you get a good filter, and the oil you paid for from the jugs they come in. I watch the guys do it. 5 quarts into the Saturn every time, always the high-end Mobil synthetic. (Of course all this was back when dad still cared for the Saturn's well-being) Walmart ain't the place to go, though. For anything. And the price for an oil change where we've always gone is marginally above the price of oil and a filter, anyway, so we've rarely found it worth it to change our own oil. And at this point, the Saturn and GMC are burning oil anyway, so we don't change oil anymore, just add more. Of course we know they're going to die if we do this. They're bound for it anyway.

Not really. Just go to Kwik Kar or whatever. Especially with these older ones, where there's no warranty to maintain. I don't even suggest doing it yourself, because most shops do it for so little over the price of oil, it's not worth bothering with the effort. Me, I stay away from dealerships, unless it's a lifetime-warrantied service, like the seatbelts in the S13, or what have you. Dealers always try and suck too much money out of you. (That being said, I could very well push my car to the nearest Nissan dealership if I had to, and I don't dislike that fact)

Aussies are a breed all their own, I don't try to comprehend their logic. They turned a Pathfinder into an Ausmobile in that video, plain and simple lol

I have a 90, so the passenger-side dash is nearly vertical and flat (whoo, 80s interior) and I was thinking of either adhering or bolting 2 of these to it. They'd look okay closed on the dash, I think, and I'm fairly certain the material could hold the weight of a drink. Regardless, I'd probably reinforce it anyway. What really has me wondering is rear cupholders. Some buddies and I plan on road-tripping the Pathy up to Colorado or Utah up here in a few months, so we'll have the three of us in the truck. I considered the rear door panels, but the arm rests get in the way, and there's probably not enough room back there anyway. I actually have a 95-98 Altima Half-DIN cupholder, but there's nowhere to put it in a 90 Pathfinder, and it gets in the way of the shifter, anyway. (whoo, 5-speed ) I'll save it for my next S-chassis or Z... Always wanted to figure out how to get one into a Z32...

It doesn't look like primer to me; the S12 in my driveway next to it IS primer, and I've had that for some months now. Looks like faded gunmetal. I called and it's dark grey. I'm thinking of getting the parts I need off that truck, because the underhood stuff is close enough, the grille is the same, and the light assmblies are all the same. I might just deal with the off-color hood, because I can't find any black ones in the area, and I hate spray painting cars. Spray paint is for props and costumes, not cars.

Took my sister and her friend home, tried to find salvage yards with black Pathfinders. Struggling to decide whether or not to mount a cupholder to the passenger side dash.

It's like the interiors lol. Brown Grey, Blue Grey, and Grey.

Craigslist Posting for 1995 Pathfinder Does that Pathfinder look black or gunmetal? I don't know what all colors these trucks were sold in, but it doesn't look exactly black to me. I ask because my truck is black and is in need of some exterior parts. I'm thinking of heading out there, but it's 30 miles from where I am, and that's a lot of gas for my budget.

If you're adding an oxidizer, you'll need to add an aftermarket fuel management system, more often than not. This applies to Nitrous Oxide systems, pure O2 systems, and the like. You can generally get away with small amounts of forced induction, or improved cams, on stock computers, but when you get into heftier mods like high-boost, or oxidizer, you'll need to change your engine management system to compensate. That being said, if you're running a fairly small amount of oxidizer, you might try larger fuel injectors on the stock pulse, to accommodate the artificial lean condition you'd be creating.

The 95-98 Altima had a half-DIN cupholder beneath the radio head unit. I picked one up at a salvage yard a few months ago, I was gonna put it in my S12, but that didn't pan out. I considered making a bracket for it and mounting it in the passenger-side dashboard, but I don't know what's behind the foam rubber. That crumple right there, you see it? Last owner did that. That's why I need welding equipment. Gotta get the core support replaced, need new headlamp assemblies, and a new hood. Doesn't do me much good to try and calibrate the headlamps when they got smashed so bad the screws aren't even in the wreckage. I think I might talk to Tungsten then lol

It's probably illegal in Washington, but I know it's perfectly legal in Texas. Hell, whenever I drive at night, I have my fogs on, since my headlights don't exactly aim at the ground anymore. (I am working to fix this, just need some cash and welding equipment) Anyway, today, I got my radio working how I want it, tried to figure out a way to get an old Altima cupholder into the truck somehow, and picked up bread and cheese for a midnight sandwich. Speaking of cupholders, any ideas? I don't know if there's anywhere I can put this Altima cupholder.
