actually it does i had a second look, do you think i should replace the cap? Could this be the reason it does not keep idling? Also do you think it would have been wise to disconnect the negative battery terminal before removing the cap? Just things i ponder.. On a second note After this paycheck i'll start the process of buying replacement parts for the timing belt and other various projects ;P.

Distributor cap looks fine I don't see anything bad looking on it.. Any other suggestions?

So I was in my pathfinder finishing up the speedometer cable got it all done, big wop. Well, I haven't driven it for a couple of weeks. I started the pathy and it cranked and started just fine. Then it died, it cranks and starts for about <30 seconds. But if i touch the gas petal it dies even faster. I'm lost as to what to test to find what is wrong. Any tips on this issue would be very kind.. Thanks!

So I have started a new project replacing the speedometer cable, sounds too easy right well. I was under the pathy today and removed everything and it was all going great until the piece(picture) that is crimped on the cable and in to the tranny would not come off the cable. Now my replacement kit does not have this piece and i'm not going anywhere without it. Some help finding this part would be nice. I went to the Nissan dealership today and they said it would cost me another 72 dollars for another cable with this piece on it. Thank you so much ps. what kind of grease do I need to lubricate this cable with when I re-install it?

Hey guys, my name is Scott and I have just come across an 1988 Nissan Pathfinder XE. I'm not much a mechanic yet, I'm still figuring the types of things that are put together to make my car work. But I'm determined to have a nice pathfinder. Some projects of mine are to replace the timing belt, water pump, oil pump, replace most of the hoses and add a bull grill. Add aftermarket transmission cooler and best of all get laid in the back of this puppy. I hope you guys will be able to answer some of not most my questions!
