Fused... I cant get them off... don't know what to do... and I'm just talking about on the exhaust its self not the manifold or anything. I sprayed them with pb blaster and I'm gonna wait and try again some other time...

yeah was kind of afraid of that. I have no choice but to do it myself though... I have like no money but like i said i can get parts really cheap and I have a work shop to myself to use to do everything... Im just very inexperienced and kind of afraid of going out and taking the engine out... can i replace the headers without taking the engine out? i have the exhaust manifold gaskets on the way... and i have all of these gaskets already so I'm gonna try to replace those sunday.

I meant he said it would get rid of the sound if its a lifter... (because most likely it wasn't getting oil upon start up) In any case im going to do an oil change tonight and use gunk engine flush then use 5w-30 2.8 quarts and 1 quart of Lucas oil stabilizer see what that does... then I will replace all the exhaust gaskets and tomorrow maybe the exhaust manifold gasket... Also no to the check engine light last time I checked.

My 1995 Nissan pathfinder is making a funny sound (going to try to post video tonight) but for now ill try to describe it. Its a fluttering whistle ticking that gets louder/worse with increase on rpm also gets worse if im going down a decline in gear without giving gas(under load?) Also this sound goes away over long trips or when warmed up? Started very slightly at first Some say its a lifter? But dohc doesn't have lifters right? Others say exhaust leak? Not sure... but I think I have read a lot of people saying an exhaust manifold gasket leak? So... a friend has said to do an oil change use thinner oil and use Lucas he said it will quiet right up. But if its the gasket... I was wondering if some one would give me a complete list of items needed for this gasket replacement? Would help a ton!

Here's some pictures of my beauty . I replaced the stock pathfinder rims with some frontier rims from the newer models so i think they look pretty classy And here is my custom cold air intake... I used an AEM pipe from a friends Sentra that just so happened to fit and the filter I use is better now... its a bigger filter and sits better in the bumper well. Hope you guys like my Pathy... like I said it has some bumps and bruises but I think its a pretty sexy SUV still.

My next couple of projects are figuring out this noise coming from the engine bay... sounds like a fluttering whistle mixed with ticking that increases with rpm and also under load rpm... some friends have said it is a knock some say a noisy lifter some say its an exhaust leak, and also the key will not engage my starter so I ran a wire to jump the solenoid to a switch for a push button start -_- ( I would rather just use my key)... but I purchased some lower viscosity oil and some Lucas stabilizer and all the exhaust gaskets to stop the noise hopefully... just need to find what size bolts I need to use to replace the exhaust bolts...

Hi im Ray... I've owned a 1995 XE (manual 5spd non 4wd) for 6 or 7 years now bit I recently moved from Florida to new Hampshire. In Florida there are no inspection laws so I have kinda driven the poor thing into the ground... but its taken everything I've tossed at it... including driving it from Florida to nh last month... now I need to whip it back into shape so it will pass inspection up here. Its definitely got some character and some flaws which I hope to smooth over. I work at a car parts store so I get a great discount on parts now so I want to start doing my own work. I have no mechanical background but I have been teaching myself. My latest feet's have been replacing the front center link, replacing the right rear brake cylinder, and replacing my struts. I still have much more to do so im hoping I can find some help/answers here and maybe help provide help/answers later on . Will post pictures of my pathy (which I have named the RaceUV) later.
