These are the only kinds we have at work I think... and should I use tungsten or cobalt drill bit?
-
^ those look cool but I wonder about how well they will work with the bolt actually broken off inside the head not being flush and the lack of room in general in the area
-
What extractor does everyone reccomend?
-
Ok so my next line of questions... Haha what size drill bit should I be using on the broken stud?
-
Think im gonna take mine down clean up the vinyl some clean off the metal, go to Joannes fabrics buy a thin layer of foam... cut to fit spray adhesive that and let it sit for a day... the spray adhesive the back and re wrap the vinyl :)use some clamps and let it sit a day or so and then toss it back up...

I know I must sound like a whiny dueche >< Haha but thanks again to everyone who has helped... went ahead and ordered those... hopefully they will be here before the weekend so I can get em in. Now on to my next problem that broken stud in the head
-
I am only doing one side for now so 1 is good for me... wow pretty expensive in total for shipping and everything -_- 45$
-
Omg I love you... you wouldn't happen to have a link to the kit would you? Its for the passenger side.
-
do you mean a 300zx or a 350z? also which year should i ask for the studs in?
-
I thought you said they were 8M
-
What year Z? and what trim? what do i ask for?
-
Yeah I just don't have the mechanical ability to do that by myself I don't think...
-
Ok so this is the only stud that is the same size and length (the one on the left) but the lengths of the threads are different... does this matter?
-
The dealer is going to be pretty expensive though right?
-
i lied they are the same size but I swore I used a 12 on some and a 13 on others... anyways... I can't find replacement studs that are equal to either of these? Don't know where I need to go to get them? Any ideas?
-
Ill have to post pics next time im working on it
-
Kk manifold is off... one stud must of previously broke within the head... need to get it out some how... also... I noticed all the studs are different... im confused...
-
Also looks as if the old gasket has broken and turned so I assume one of the other studs is loosened as well... and the studs seem smaller than m10 I dunno though
-
So yeah taking the heat shield off the exhaust manifold and I hear clink on the ground as soon as its off and I look down and a stud is laying on the ground... problem found?
-
Yeah I don't have stock stock exhaust exactly either... a friend of mine was gonna replace it so he cut it off... and realized he couldn't complete the job... so I went to a muffler shop and had them weld everything back together. but we did manage to replace the exhaust tip... but the cat, muffler and everything else is stock... so I need to find out what size bolts would be the best replacement... I guess I will just have to figure out how to get them off and take them to work to purchase replacements. Really hoping this freeze off stuff works... I did buy the studs needed for the manifold job... if I can get the exhaust parts off this weekend I'll be ready to replace the studs and manifold gaskets and etc. I only bought 6 studs but if I need more I'll just grab some more later...
-
Thinking about replacing my ignition switch since it wont start my truck any more... was wondering if anyone had a spare one for sale or knew of a cheaaap place online? I would normally get it from work but they don't have any for sale...
-
Bought some CRC Freeze off everywhere I've looked says it works reaaaallllyyy well so round two this sat probably...
-
eww :X I don't have that kind of money either haha so I guess I'll be learning how to do it all
-
I really am a novice mechanic so I have no experience with removal of broken studs or boring out holes to put in larger studs... so yeah haha :X
-
I Couldn't figure a way to break em because the socket kept slipping off the heads... I personally Don't have a grinder... My girlfriends stepfather has a workshop fully equipped with pretty much every tool so I'm sure he has one... but Ive never personally used a grinder either... Also I noticed the bolts were all very much different sizes? when I replace I should just use the m8x1.25 30's though?
