  1. Beergarage.com has a write up on rebuilding one, its a 2WD but same concept, just separate it from the transfer case. He didn't really have any special tools either. He's a big DIY guy.

  2. so sorry to sound like a dumbass but one wheres the distrbuter and you know if anybodys on the southwestern slope nere gunnison feel free to come over and help out

If its still broke in a month I'll come help ya. My parents live in Creede.

  3. Really? They are total CRAP on my sisters integra and dad's 280z and the expedition we just sold.

But I've been running rain-x latitude, way better than bosch, anco, and I think some random parts store brand that came with the car.

    $14 at Walmart.

If it rains I think I need to replace them. Then I turn them on, and presto, still like new.

  4. Plastidip is awesome, I've done my front bumper, rear window hinges, the Nissan grille emblem. I've considered doing my entire truck, I've seen a few cars around that have it done. Some look good, some are kinda bleh. Good prep work goes a long way if you are gonna do the entire thing.

FYI, you can't get it by the gallon in California anymore, thanks to some law.

  5. In my opinion, if you tow, vg33e swap is your best friend!

As much as I like my WD21, doing a motor swap to occasionally pull a tent trailer sounds ludicrous.

My ex had a 97 Pathfinder, towed a small tent trailer out to our local lake once, just a few small hills. I couldnt imagine going up and down the stuff in your neck of the woods.

I vote buy used/new/different tow vehicle.

If you stick with Nissan, I'd aim for something with a VQ35.

  6. Id be pissed if they took away a plate they issued, especially if I bought it that way. Most of the carbs from the MX and smaller displacement dual sport bikes are only 36-38mm venturis. They would work well with the smaller displacement bikes (they usually do that to have a "pumper" carb) but they just don't pass enough air for the big bikes at RPM. They work fine for low RPM torque but choke out when the bike needs big air....But you are right, that swap is getting very popular, the Mikuni and Keihin pumpers are the most used. Some are converting to FI, which I think is ludicrous.

The ones I was reading about were 40 or 41MM. CRF 250 and 450's, but obviously double check.

  7. I think if you are grandfathered in with a plate you are OK, they just aren't allowing any bikes that don't have a plateable VIN # anymore, no matter what you do.

From what I was reading, they actually went through their system and found bikes that should of been red sticker only that had been plated, and sent out notices saying you had to surrender your plates. I know some of it has to do with the 8th digit of the VIN. If its a C or 3 it is a non plate able bike.

On topic, I see a bunch of people swapping in a carb from the CRF bikes, seems to be a pretty common upgrade.

  8. Depends on your size. If I was a little fella is get a 250-450. My bike of choice right now would be a XR650L.

Precise, be careful about plated dirt bikes. I've read that DMV handed out plates like candy at one point, but they are starting to figure it out and revoke them.
