Yeah from the looks of it the former owner has serious problems parking (or driving)!! she needs to revert back to a bicycle.....with training wheels on it.
-
...dont forget he mentioned KM, not MPH...... not a math whiz here but ...... I have a 1990 se 5spd (perfectly tuned mostly normal aspiration other than K&N air filter) and HWY miles I get about 350 MILES to a tank......and to me thats pretty darn good considering age and it being a flying brick aerodynamicly speaking.
-
Here's one to think about regarding tire pressure...... a bicycle...... remember riding as a kid on your bicycle and the tires would start to go flat or be low on air.....how much harder is was to pedal to keep moving, then you got either a new tire (or tube) or just pumped it back up....and WHOOSH! you're off and flyin' down the road again with practically no effort. It's just obvious that it takes more effort and energy to move due to increased resistance with low air pressure. It's almost not even worth going into the rocket science of it..... (what happened to my bike? oh it eventually was stolen.......)

I'm with you Kittamaru!! If you cant get along with the rest of the world and live humanely......then screw you and your wacko religions.....we're going to build a big natural wall around you bozos and let you all kill each other since you seem to live for killing when the rest of the world does not. (and then...since it would be like a giant pool.......start adding water.... I just dont see how super high prices is going to make more oil magically appear.....its just investors and those in control of the oil commodities using any excuse in the world to raise the prices. I'm just glad I dont drive anything that is DIESEL!! ouch!

....and don't forget how much the Iraq ordeal is costing US, when we shouldn't have gone there in the first place. Govt already admitted all the intelligence on WMD's being there was wrong. But OOPS! oh well....lets get Hussein so we can make it look like we accomplished SOMETHING......duhhhh...it was his country...not ours to govern. Iraq didnt cause 9/11.....Osama and the Taliban did.....where are they still? in Afganistan (a whole different country!)....seems like we just dropped a few bombs in the mountains and then gave up. So this so-called ongoing hopeless war is costing our country trillions thanks to Monkey boys screw ups. Notice how we NEVER hear about the ongoing hunt for Osama anymore? Meanwhile we still rely on the middle east for their oil while our own refineries cant seem to stay up and running due to "maintennance issues". And the govt. continues to stock pile loads of oil in a safe place for whenever WW3 happens...... well when and if WW3 ever happens....its going to be so nuclear that the planet will be rendered mostly uninhabitable anyway. Oh and to keep this still somewhat on a Pathfinder fuel saving topic.....avoid being a lead-foot driver....thats the best way to save on gas mileage (but of course, most still feel like they have to be going 85 mph on the highway just because its fun.)
-
no, BUSH, and all the dumbass morons that do nothing but fight in the middle east and africa are the reasons gas costs so much now.... along with the morons that just use any excuse in the world to raise the price everytime a bullet is fired somewhere over there.....just to protect their overblown investments and line their pockets and bank accounts at our expence. Not like raising the price is going to magically make more gas or oil appear. Duuuuhhhhhhhhh.... It's all political...... theres loads of oil out there.....no wait, not just politial....but BS too. will they drill in colorado or thereabouts where there is more oil than anywhere else on the planet?? no....why? politics.......and a few tree huggers. But I have used high flow cats on my other vehicles and driven those without any cats.....absolutely no difference in performance, with cleaner emissions. anyhoo.... YAY IT'S FRIDAY!

yeah thats what I figured....my 1990 has the same "wet spot" and always has....but its never left a puddle or huge spot on the pavement, and I have changed the gear lube just to be safe... I'm not even going to bother worrying about mine....I dont offroad it much and the lube is so thick that gravity has to work hard on it to make it leak lol.
-
...at least put a high-flow cat on.....they are mostly free flowing. try to be at least a tiny bit green rather than try to gain .5 to 1 HP
-
..isnt that one of the 4x4 axle shafts? (on the front) Looks like it to me and mine has the same itsy bitsy leak.....like, the drop of lube is there but doesnt even fall.....just looks wet all the time. I just left mine as is and has been like that for years

yeah ...and if SHE was brand new too....her mileage would be even better

Beefing up the Power steering Pump
Chriskaw440 replied to msavides's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Ummmm....why? stock power steering seems pretty easy to steer with ....practically use two fingers to turn the wheel....even with larger tires. maybe eating more Wheaties or a gym membership will help with your power steering woes...... -
Wierd thing going on on my front end...
Chriskaw440 replied to jpawela's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
its rare but I have actually had 'bad tires' before, new ones.....had vibration problem checked and they said I had defective tires so they replaced them for free. (out of round...) Like anything made these days, always the chance of getting a defect (although TWO would be kind of surprising.....) My guess would be warped/bent wheels or bent spindles......something like that maybe. -
Ya wanna know my best fuel saving technique?? got all those other things beat by a mile..... My secret is...... I drive my WIFES car whenever possible (it's brand new too.....)
-
I have a 1990 se which started life on the carolina coast (Isle of Palms SC) and has been mine since ....ummmm.....2001'ish........ only rust I have found is on the chrome tip I bought for the tail pipe years ago. damnit now what am I gonna do?????!!!! Should I sue Autozone? or just go spend another $7 and get another one. decisions decisions.....
-
I had that same problem with an RX-7 I used to own. how did I fix it? I found the chime unit under the dash, like mentioned above....... and yanked it the hell out of the vehicle.
-
I have never used SEAFOAM but I see it mentioned a lot on here, so I take it that it is good stuff? can you add it to your oil before doing and oil change to flush out junk or is it only for putting in a tank of gas to clean the fuel system? when I had my valve covers off to replace the gaskets during my knock sensor project, I did see some gunk and crusty build up around the lifters and valve springs, some of which I sucked out with my shop vac. Engine has over 240,000 miles on it so I was actually expecting to see worse! what I saw looked pretty typical for the age and mileage of the vehicle. I would however like to run something through the system to clean it up some.....or should I just leave it be. I change my oil every 3,000 with castrol high mileage 10w-40. thanks, Chris.

MAKE SURE YOU RELIEVE THE FUEL PRESSURE BEFORE YANKING THE HOSES OFF THE FUEL FILTER. even when the engine is off, there is still a lot of pressure in the lines and I have had one of my hoses slip off before I relieve the pressure and it was like a geyser! PPFFFFOOOSSSSHHHHH!!! remove the fuel pump fuse from the fuse panel, then crank the engine a few times until it just wont run. and remove the gas cap.

I'll try to find the same place that I got mine from....as you can see, it just simply attaches to the MAF housing...simple as that....no need to replace the air tube and custom fit anything else...unless you really wanted to fabricate something up which I think other folks have done. -Chris update...well I finally found the place where I got mine.... 4x4 parts .....this link should take you right to it....... www.4x4parts.com/public_html/shop/index.php3?page=shop/flypage&product_id=5&category_id=b1266448471e3ff4388f53a3045e60f4&ps_session=1cbe9cf2cd4c3709f3d2c0aa39adc9db if the link doesnt work...the site is www.4x4parts.com its actually listed for $119.00 not $75'ish like I thought....I just couldn't remember... -Chris
-
Yikes I'd never pay that much ....sometimes I think K&N stuff is a bit overpriced..... For my 1990, I was able to just order the conefilter and adapter so it just bolted directly to the MAF sensor housing, and then it was just a support rod to hold it in place. They dont make anything for the older models that I have ever been able to find other than what I got, which was years ago and now I dont remember who makes it....It's not a K&N brand, but its the exact same make-up.....I paid about $75.00 I think for it.

ok ...sounds logical....but the IAC is located under the plenum (damnit) ....so how did you clean it? I figure I'd have to take the plenum off again since I just did a knock sensor job a few months ago, and you know....I considered just replacing that IAC while I had everything taken apart but I saw that they are somewhat expensive so I just left it as is.... How much seafoam goes into the tank? I assume into a full tank of gas.... I have never used the Seafoam stuff before.

yeah since they are "open type elements", some gasses/fumes can escape into the atmosphere from the intake chambers once the engine is off. I seriously doubt it would be barely any bad gasses escaping, but I guess uncle sam thinks otherwise. They should focus more on wasteful spending like the $42 million the IRS wasted on sending out letters saying when you MAY get your extra refund. They could have just posted something on the internet but I guess they are still working in the dark ages...... Duuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........
-
they aren't the most durable switches made out there.....the "plunger" on it is a spring loaded plastic part. I have had to replace mine twice since I have owned my 1990 5 spd. Pretty cheap part from the dealership.....somewhat difficult to get a wrench on it due its location....but thats been the only case with me losing my backup lights on my ride. easier if you can get it up on a lift ( I drove to my buddies shop and they put mine on the rack and we just stood under it and luckily, the last time mine was replaced, the dealership did it and of course the stupid monkey there only put the new one in finger tight....so it was easy for us to remove it and install a new one....and we put a wrench on it to get it tighter thatn finger tight, but not super tight so it would be next to impossible to unscrew when it possibly goes bad again -Chris
-
...when mine get stubborn when the light turns green, I just use a bit of harsh language and that seems to help too... "D*mnit.....get...in ....there......F*cker!!....." and boom! good to go.....
-
hi slick yeah I just didnt care for putting a panel type filter "back in the box" and just wanted pure direct access to air there was a big difference once I got the big cone filter on. Then I was happy I dont have headers either and just stock exhaust, (but I wish I did...) .... but having been a former autocrosser with RX-7's that were set up with racing exhaust and intakes, I knew that just doing a higher flow air filter would be ok even with stock exhaust.....anything more than that then it would be just wasteful due to the restrictive nature of stock exhaust. I look at it like, with stock intake----a person trying to breath through their nose with a bad head cold, and with the high flow air filter----like putting on a 'breath-rite nasal strip' on your nose ahhhh.... AIR! now they may not be legal in all 50 states.......(open type air filter)...... we dont have inspections here in SC.
