  1. If anyone wants that cupholder, here is the best shot at it.

Here is a link to Nissan dealers near Bangkock.

    Phone numbers on right column.

Click on far left column for e-mail.

We don't know with certainty if the cup holder will fit.

    http://www.nissan.co.th/th/web/shoppingsupport/dealer_list.htm?area=2448&city=&address=#

I am going to e-mail them and report back.

  2. The Xterra/Frontier is the new Pathfinder/Hardbody. The R50 has no truck compliment.

    Xterra/Frontier WD22/D22

    Pathfinder/Hardbody WD21/D21

The frames between the 4 are very close. The IFS is similar, Steering boxes interchange, Skid plates interchange, Idler arms interchange, centerlinks interchange I think even sway bars interchange and the list goes on But none of the above will fit on an R50 or R51

Good point with the Xterra carrying the WD22 label.

  3. The favorite generation Pathfinder for most people on this board is the WD21.

    What about second choice?

I am guessing most people would choose the R50.

    The R50 could be a hybrid WD21 and R51.

I definitely would choose the R50. The R51 is too bulky for my tastes. It might even be a close call for me whether I would take the R50 or WD21. The interior of the R50 is nicer than the WD21 and the exterior is not bad.

  4. I found this on a Thailand off road website.

I wonder if they are definitely from Nissan. I think it was made to go where the ash tray was. It looks like the Thais created an uproar about the weak cup holders in the middle console.

This is the link for the website. It begins with microsoft translator because it translates the page into English.

  5. I am curious.

I contacted Nissan and gave a link to the picture of the badge and VIN.

Let's find out what they say.

  6. Do they only use OEM parts?

If they do use after market parts, what is the point of paying a high price to have a car repaired at a dealership? I believe I remember a dealership repair shop asking if I wanted after market brake pads for a repair.

Can independent repair shops acquire OEM parts? If so, why even bother going to a dealer to have a vehicle repaired? Independent repair shops always charge less.

This would be for routine repairs like a radiator or water pump.

What about for more complicated repairs?

Is the added cost really worth it? Do dealership repair shops charge more for OEM parts than what an independent shop would?

  7. We have a Saturn L-300 that has only 35,000 miles and giving a lot of problems.

The water pump and radiator needed to be replaced in June of last year. Then again last week.

We are now getting the smell of coolant when turning the engine off.

I posted the problem on a Saturn site, and people have suggested it is likely an oil cooler problem.

I am not sure I want to find out if it is or not.

If I trade in the vehicle, how many people would mention the problem to the salesman.

What if it was a private party?

I don't know for sure there is a problem. Am I obligated to pay money to find out if there is a problem?

  8. I posted my 1996 Original Sticker on My Members Ride Page....

    My link

For whatever reason, I enjoy looking at old sales stickers.

I see it was bought at Harrisonburg Nissan. I went to JMU. Small world.

The '96 was the first year of the new design. Did the vehicle have any problems?

What is with the note in the lower right of the sticker?

"The engine in this vehicle was replaced at a nissan factory witn an improved engine identical to those currenly being installed on all 1996 Pathfinders.

That is pretty expensive for a manual transmission SUV back then.

Did you get this promotional video with your vehicle?

  9. Well mine is a 1995 White SE V6 Loaded minus leather and the MSRP back then for mine was $31,200 or so I have to check in my Glove box but it was a little more than $31K.

    Hope that helps.

    Wow.

I do know the 95's went up from 94, but I didn't realize it was that much!

You must have really wanted one!

Can I get the breakdown on the sticker?

How much did you pay if I may ask?

  10. Legos Here. I have a lot of spair rims from a friend. Everytime he picked up a Pathy to bring to the JY (rusted out) he would grab the rims for me. I have 5 on my truck (one full size Spare), 5 in my Basement and 2 in my storage room.

    Those things were not cheap.

Someone correct me if I am wrong. Ten years ago they were over $1,000 for a set of four.

  11. From my 91 manual (should be same?), on schedule 1 (which is the heavy duty one, which I think basically everyone should follow), it says to inspect the transmission fluid every 24000 km (15000 miles). Then there is a note below that says "If towing a trailer, using a camper or a car-top carrier, or driving on rough or muddy roads, change (not just inspect) oil at every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) [plus some more stuff about the LSD]."

Edit, mine is on the second page, 3rd line from the top, but that could easily be different for you manual. The line is for "Manual and automatic transmission, transfer & differential gear oil."

    Found it. Thank you.

    I thought ......

Manual and automatic transmission, transfer & differential gear oil.

...referred to transfer and differential gear oil in both manual and automatic transmissions as opposed to tranny fluid.

In the legend at the top of the page where it says means "Inspect" Next to it it says "Replace if necessary" or something like that. I wish Nissan was more clear when replacement is necessary.

  12. Wait for the water pump to go or a hose to split then drain the radiator and block. Then add a 50-50 mix of anti-freeze and distilled water. Coolant doesn't really deteriorate so if your coolant tests good leave it alone. As for flushing the system don't do it. Tap water is used which has minerals in it and that can cause problem later.

Yeah if you're due for a timing belt you could just do it then. I just drained the rad and when I took the water pump off a crapload of coolant came out like waterfall.

Am I reading this correctly? It is not necessary to change the coolant at intervals?

A fried of mine just had the radiator and water pump replaced on her vehicle and she was told it was because the coolant was not replaced enough.

  13. I firmly believe that if you change the fluid as per the manual time frame, that it will be fine. The stock cooler is prone to clogging up, but my mechanic and another family friend (who is a mechanic/hydraulics engineer) say that it shouldn't clog up unless someone along the line, never changed the tranny fluid when they owned it. They also said it couldn't hurt, and recommend an external cooler AND filter if you tow a lot or run it on trails.

As far as my limited experience goes, the 93 has 340,000kms on it, with the original tranny and stock cooler. Still works great. No towing or wheeling ever. The 95 however had 220k when I got it, the fluid was brown, smelled burnt, and intermittently had no reverse. Clearly not maintained like my 93. I have had it flushed twice since, and I haven't had any further problems. When I removed the rad for the tbelt change, I flushed out the cooler just to be on the safe side, it was free flowing...

I have a '94 and I am looking at the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual and it does not even mention changing the auto transmission fluid. I believe the '95 owner's manual is the same as the '94. Where does it mention to change the auto transmission fluid? What line on the maintenance schedule in the back does it say to change it?

If anyone else knows, that would be great.
