Recently, Nissan created individual corporations for each of their manufacturing plants in order to create competitiveness between
plants and improve vehicle quality. Interesting idea.
Here is a website for the plant. A lot of interesting information on that site.
http://www.nissan.co.jp/AREA/FUKUOKA/ENGLISH/index.html
If I was in Japan I would definitely take a plant tour. It is about 3 hours by train/plane $460. Five hours by train and bus @$270.

Not necessarily, r50s are unibody and look at the abuse people here put them through (Jeep xjs and grand Cherokees are too). It's the minivanish fwd/AWD base that's the demise
I assume FWD/AWD refers to front wheel drive/all wheel drive. What exactly is that? How is that different than the R50 and WD21 and how does it effect off road performance?
As for how it looks, I wouldn't care as long as it performs.
-
It's FWD or AWD unibody that is far closer to a minivan with 'styling' than all terrain vehicle that the Pathfinder used to be.
The Pathfinder is officially dead...
B
Does being a unibody mean it will not perform as well offroad? I have not done a lot of offroading.

Thinking about it again, it might be too car like for my taste.

Love the sleek look.
The Patrol overseas is supposed to be redesigned as well.
X-Terra will be new also.
I was thinking about getting an Land Rover LR4, but would consider one of these.

The vehicle security systems (VSS) in these vehicles were dealer installed options.
Thank you for those photos.
So does that mean it was not even possible to custom order a Pathfinder from Nissan with an alarm system?
Only the dealer could install it?
It will also not start if you bust the lock and try to hotwire the ignition switch.Just curious. Why do you believe the starter kills is not effective?
-
AFAIK, yes.
Although, fairly cheesey and easy to disable (turn the ignition switch), the alarm is an attention getter. not only does it honk the horn and flash all the lights, but it has a secondary alarm horn like an aftermarket system would that's attached to the inside of the driver side fender with security screws. I need to get a working horn for my truck, had one but the wire broke . And when I do, I'll make a video of it going off.
I was reading the manual for Vehicle Security System that came with the Pathfinder.
I also noticed that the alarm can be disabled by turning the ignition switch. Is that easily done without a key?
The manual doesn't say anything about a starter kill.

Can the wire be replaced instead of getting a new horn?
Are you going to try and fix the stock alarm horn? If you are, I am curious enough to hear it.
-
I am not referring to the remote that could only unlock the vehicle.
Did it have starter kill? Was the alarm loud on it?

Did everyone else figure out how to best utilize the pull down cup holders in the center console of the 93-95 (maybe earlier years as well) Pathfinder?
It actually wasn't until two years of owning the Pathfinder that I knew they were there.
While driving, I take my left arm and reach underneath my right arm which is holding the wheel.
Then I grab the drink and pull my left arm back underneath my right arm.

It was primarily an option for Hardbody's not for Pathfinders so I'll bet that's why it says it wont match. Kind of silly that they didnt offer that to pathfinders as well.
I also can't comment on whether it was available from 3rd party suppliers, I just checked with Rob on Nissan's availability.
I tried a 91 and 92 Hardbody VIN and neither came up as being compatable.
Maybe since they were not originally put in the vehicle, it does not come up.
If anyone is interested, I would e-mail them.

This is a genuine nissan part that was offered on the hardbody trucks in thE US starting manufacturing date 07/93 through the end of the production run in 1997. MSRP from Nissan is $114.95. But as pointed out they are discontined. If I ever come across any new in box I will buy them....
PART NUMBER: 68430-75P00
HOLDER ASSY-CUP
Unbelievable.
I found one on a couple of sites.
http://www.nissanpartszone.com/parts/nissan-holder-assy-cup~68430-75p00.html
On the first one, there is a VIN search to find out if it will fit a particular vehicle.
When I copy and pasted a VIN for a 94 PF, it said that the part would not fit.
When I entered each number separately, I received an inconclusive message.
I am not sure how accurate that search is.
Maybe since it wasn't a part that was included in the vehicle, it is not coming up.
Here is a complete list of compatible vehicles.
http://www.nissanpartszone.com/Page_Product/PartsFits.aspx?partNumber=68430-75P00
In the trim column, none of them match what was offered for a Pathfinder.
Does anyone know if any Pathfinder is on that list?
Here is another site.

I have a 94 sales catalogue. No cloth heated seats offered.
-
No! SEs have factory tinted quarters which make the white letters appear golden.
Good catch.
-
i have smashed down on one of my hooks to the point it looks like it could be a driver side hook
There were OEM tow hooks offered by Nissan specifically for the WD21?
-
For anyone wondering what the trim (XE or SE) is for your 93-95 Pathfinder.
XEs have a white "Pathfinder" sticker on the rear side window.
SEs have a gold one.
-
Mine was a "test drive one" I bought new in 95 with 4k on it. SE model with off road package for 33k after taxes
Did it have leather?
-
I bought the 95 SE new for just over 26k including the 'offroad' package and snazzy graphics
That is a heck of a deal.
When dealerships are going out of business, that is the time to pounce. They are usually at invoice as soon as a customer walks in the door.
-
I bought mine with only 4 miles on it, a 1998 SE R50 which was about $29K at that time.
Can I ask how much you paid?
-
I got mine in 2001. SE, manual transmission, no Nav. I think it was around $29K.
I am getting the MSRP as $29,449.
Was the dealership tougher about bringing down the price on a factory ordered vehicle?
-
How much under MSRP did you pay?
What year?
Are dealerships usually tougher about coming down from the MSRP on a factory ordered vehicle as opposed to one on the lot?
-
mine was 25k in 91, i still have the sticker if you want to see it
thank you but was looking for someone with a 94.
-
not the bone you asked for but I'll throw it anyway,I think my 89 xe was 20k new, no leather, no abs, no disc, power windows, A/C, premium wheels w/ 31's ... "sport package"
That is a lot for back then. Super expensive.
-
What did you pay before taxes?
Did it have leather?
-
Wow. So take away the 1259.00 for leather and 150 for Cali emissions, and thats probably about what my 94 cost when new. Im curious about what other vehicle classified under special purpose vehicle for that year got 28-29 MPG. 4 Cylinder Passport?
What did you pay exactly before taxes for that 94?
Did it have leather?
Where WD21 vehicles were built: Kyushu, Japan
in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders

I wonder if there would be a quality difference in a vehicle if it was built by American workers vs. Japanese workers, all other things
being equal.
I doubt it. I think vehicle quality has more to do with design then who turns the bolts.
