  1. Here is a link that talks about Making Titan rims fit on a Hardbody / Pathfinder.

    http://infamousnissan.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11646

You will need to take the rims to a shop to have the center bore drilled bigger to fit.

Be warned there are a few downfalls to doing this.

    1. Unless you plan to run on the street alot the stock titan offset is +35 and 5.5BS which is horrible for us and rubs like crazy on the inside. The guy who did it with his pathfinder needed 1.5 spacers to prevent rubbing.

    2. Tire prices for the popular 18" rim that titan's used are up there for a decent a/t like the grabber there $214 each.

  2. This is just my opinion and would love other peoples comments on this. It's food for thought if nothing else. One of the only advantages of wheeling with IFS is the increased ground clearance you gain from not having your front pumpkin drag through the rocks, snow, whatever it is you wheel in. Keeping your front sway bar on helps to push the rest of the vehicle up when traveling over trail obstacles. When you remove this sway bar you defeat the only real advantage an IFS system may have over a solid axle. The obstacle pushes just one wheel up, leaving the rest of you chassis at the same level, leaving you more vulnerable to being hung up. I feel that the only place removing your front sway bar is going to help is on an RTI ramp. The offroad ride will be smoother without it, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's more capable.

True you do lose some of the clearance by actually flexing the front end. But the main downfall of having a non flexing ifs is that for example your right front tire gets on to a rock, without any flex the right front will go up in the air making the rear take all the flex work. The problem with that is the right rear tire will soon begin to lift and all forward movement is gone. where as if the front flex some you would still keep the rear on the ground and keep going and get over the obstacle.

Now if you have lockers front and rear then it doesn't matter and a stiff front end won't stop you but most probally don't have a front locker.

For me i can adjust my front end flex with the push of a button since i have cross linked front air shocks and can lower the air pressure to give me more flex and flip the switch on the compressor and raise it back up for ground clearance.

I have my torsion bars cranked down (relaxed ) so the front end is nice and flexy.

  3. It would depend on what gear ratio you have right now.

I have the stock 4.6 gear ratio and with 33 x 10.50 BFG AT i haven't noticed a single bit of power loss.

I can still climb with little effort and have no problem getting up to the 75 mph speed limit from a on ramp.

My spedoo is way off now though but i use my gps since it displays my speed anyway.

    At 60 mph i'm actually going 69.

  4. I've had my front and rear bar off for about 2 years now and not once has it ever effected my driving or made me feel like i was not in full control of my pathy. Around here in nebraska the speed limit is 75mph on I-80 and high cross winds at times and never had any problems. The only thing i could feel with the front bar off was a more comfortable ride. They main reason i removed the front bar is that i have cross linked front air suspension and having the bar off let the suspension travel through its full range with ease. Before with it on i wasn't able to get full droop if the other wheel was tucked.

Now on another note if your front suspension / steering isnt in the best shape i can easily see how it could make matters worse especially with sloppy steering. All my front steering components and bushings including the tension rods are in top shape.

Also for people that wonder about towing also i pull are pop up camper in the summer and have no issues. I do using air lift bags inside the springs to keep it level though.

  5. Hi, happy and not so happy new pathy owner. Tons of stuff to fix on this thing. Between the last owner and myself, already put in $4,000 into it. And maybe another $2,000 to go depending on what I can do myself and all the "door" problems, most of which I didn't know about when buying it.

Anyway, I'm aware of the installing a new Transmission Cooler, that the OEM is bugged.

I've read all the threads of the forum and on the net on the issue. But I have a question.

The warning on this issue says to simply replace the cooler with an aftermarket one.

My question is, isn't a New Radiator also an aftermarket item?

Couldn't we just stick a new radiator in and that will also solve the problem?

I've seen no discussion on this, so it makes me wonder?

I ask because it seems about the same price but easier to just stick a new radiator in my 93 Pathy rather than mess with a separate cooler?

Then to help keep my Tranny working well I can just use Lucas or whatever, and maybe stick in a simple inline filter?

So, my question is, are aftermarket "Radiators" also okay to use, they don't have the defect?

    Thanks....

p.s. Plan on keeping this thing for a long while, so making it perfect and my baby, and to know everything about it.

The main problem with installing a new radiator and using the internal cooler is that it still sucks.

Even though the cooler lines go into the radiator none of the fins are dedicated for it. If you havent opened one up before to see it would be hard to explain but basically the transmission fluid is being cooled by the 200+ degree coolant going through the radiator thats getting cooled but its still about 160 degrees after cooled so imagine what temp the trans fluid is still at.

I installed a transmission temp gauge a long time ago before i put on the external cooler and it stayed around the 205 degree mark. After the cooler was installed it was around 160.

Since Heat is the main killer of our transmission i would never use the internal cooler.

To give you a idea of what i'm talking about here is an example the transmission cooler fins are inside the coolant bottom end so there being cooled by the hot coolant in the radiator which is still above around 180 ish so it doesnt work very well.

  6. Ok so today i went and installed the r50 center console in my pathy.

I can now say that if you have a auto that you will need to do 2 extra things that you don't have to with a manual.

First if you have auto trans console from a R50 it wont fit nicely over the wd21 auto shifter and will have horrible gaps.

Now you can probally use the r50 shifter instead but i didn't have one on hand.

But not a big deal the front top portion of the console can swap out for auto or manual the rest of the console is the same.

Ok so to continue i used the manual r50 console now for the swap i just removed the top of the a/t shift handle and slid the manual shifter boot on it and put the handle back on.

It actually looks factory just a leather shift boot around the a/t handle now.

Ok for the second problem the center bolt for the console to mount is right on top of the the a/t shifter cable which isn't a issue for a manual wd21 but for me the console wouldnt go down and had about a 2 in bulge in the middle.

But all that was needed was to bend the mount tap a bit and fit very snug.

So to finish i used a R50 manual console in a auto tranny wd21.

I used a brown console since the 92 interior is kind of a brownish gray and matched it alot better where as the gray r50 console matches the 93+ wd21 interior color.

Also loading pics soon of the install.

  7. Hmmm, interesting. I wonder if the spacing between the racks is the same in both, if the seat widths are the same and if the racks are bolted in the same position. It could mean there is more room for the R50 center console, but the seats are offset wider and that interferes with door panels in the WD21, or something? I'll try to take some measurements of both in the next few days to get an idea of the big picture.

    B

Good question i only test to see if it would bolt in since the wd21 didn't have a center console or door i'm not sure on the full fit i will need to go back and find one with full interior in and see snug it is or if you can even close the door.

  8. Found something interesting while i was picking up the r50 console i was looking at the seat on the r50 and notice that it looks like it would bolt right up to the wd21.

So i went on courtsey auto on my phone and found that the 87 to 95 pathfinder and 96 to 99 pathfinder have the same seat track part#

So since i had my electric impact with me and there was a wd21 that didnt have a passenger seat in it i removed the r50 passenger side seat and it bolt right in to the wd21 no problem at all.

So there just a random fact if anyone wanted to know.

Here are the links from them showing the same part# for the wd21 and r50 up to year 2000 after that there is a different frame.

The power seat frame it different on the r50 but the mounting holes are the same.

    http://www.courtesyparts.com/pathfinder-parts-wd21-1987-1995/genuine-nissan-parts/seat-seat-belt/870-front-seat/-c-5572_5573_5734_5738.html

So at least a 98 pathfinder se seat bolted right into a pathfinder.

  9. Hey man we are not that far from each other...

    On the transmission cooler note:

If you disconnect the trans lines going into the radiator you can blow compressed air into the top port and see if it comes out.... If it is anything less than a lot of air, its clogged. Like has been already mentioned these are notorious for clogging....

Aftermarket cooler is the way to go!!

Here is how I did mine....

    http://www.torymoore.com/pathfinder/transcool.html

The transmission may not be gone yet if the cooler clogs it kills the line pressure to the transmission so it might still be ok.

I think there is some one on here that posted something similar to you and his was clogged he replaced the cooler and transmission was good to go.

    It's worth a shot.

  10. 95 pathy se v6 220k auto trans 4x4. I was driving along fine and all of a sudden my engine started reving like it was in neutral. No gears will engage, when I shift to reverse the engine strains like it normally would but will not move. Reverse and 1st are the only gears the engine bogs down for. I have a 94 pathy parts truck with a good trans, does this sound like a simple fix or should I look into swapping them. Trans fluid was clean and full.

quick question are you using the stock transmission cooler or have you bypassed the cooler with a aftermarket one.

The stock cooler are notorius for clogging and killing the transmission.

  11. if you go to the junk yard and dont want the brown one PM me.

They have 3 brown console there and there pricing is cheap just $16 for the console so just go to ups or fedex or which ever company you like and see what shipping would be to you from zip code 68123

Google maps shows your city is about 265 miles from me so guessing shipping won't be bad.

  12. Also the nice thing about the R50 console is you can buy and manual or auto no matter what you have since the black trim that goes around the shifter part swap between the console so even if you have a manual and find only a auto console you would only need the trim piece to make to work. So it makes it easier finding one that works

  13. Could you just rob the r50s auto shifter and hook it up to your cable?

I went on Courtsey parts.com and looked at the wd21 and R50 auto trans shifter and it should work. The shifter cable that connects the transmission to the shifter is the same part# from 90 all the way to 2004 pathfinder so that was my main worry and also the electrical connector that plugs into the light on the shifter is also the same and the mechanisam that unlocks when you press the brake is the same

SO most of the major stuff is still the same.

only thing that might be a problem is the way the shifter bolts to the body they look like there in different spots but a bracket or drilling holes in the shifter base where the wd21 bolts to should work.

  14. hmm i wonder if the brown is close? I would totally buy the brown one if it is the gray bothers me i kind of want to sell my 2 gray ones and get brown one.

Here's a pic of what the brown color console looks like for my 92 the color is almost spot on match for what the dash color is since it has that brownish gray look.

You have the exact same color interior as mine i swear they should have labeled it as a brown color lol i love the way the console looks and its fit.

Now i need to decided what color console to get they have a gray, brown and a black console in the local j/y.

I'm going to go there this weekend and take measurments and see if the auto version on that console will fit my a/t shifter if not i can just used the manual shifter one and just removed the handle and slide the boot over it and but the handle back on might not look bad but hoping the cover will fit.

  16. Quick question when the radio goes off is it just the display(lights) or sound and all.

If its sound and all meaning it turned off and back on i would check the fusible link there the 2 connectors that plug into the black box on the positive battery cable post.

If it just the lights and the radio i still playing then i agree with checking the dimmer switch.

  17. What idler arm brace did you get? I bought a 'used' (unmounted) Calmini IAB that was so far off that it couldn't be mounted (see linky in my signature). I then bought a new AC (4x4parts) brace that was poorly clearanced, but mounted up fine and should be sufficient...

    B

My calmini right side bolt holes didn't line up i had to slot mine which i didn't really want to do.

  18. I was wondering this same thing ages ago as well. Since the R50's share the same auto trans, wouldn't it be as easy as swapping the shifter and the console over? I don't know enough about these things but it seemed to me like it would be doable since its the same tranny. I can understand how if it was a completely different tranny it would be a tremendous amount of work to try and make a shifter work with the nissan tranny, but this sounds doable and I was always wondering if it could work. Looking forward to watching this progress.

seeing as its a simple cable setup all the shifter does it move the cable it does seem like it should work.

Oddly we have about 10 r50's of all flavors in the local u pull it along with wd21'so i'm going to remove the console form the r50 at there and try it in a auto and see how it fits.

If it wont fit the a/t shifter i will see if the r50 shifter will fit in the wd21.

  19. there is no hole on an auto. a cable runs back where the e-brake cable is and goes under the truck to the transmission. It's cable shifted, not direct.

I should have been clearer i meant the R50 console has plastic trim molded around the auto trans shifter (Black Base).

So i was hoping that the plastic trim will line up with the auto shifter from the wd21 if not you would have to cut the trim and it might not look the best.

If you had a manual then its not a big deal since the boots would cover everything up.

  20. It was an auto, I'll see if I can find the thread (in the FS section) or just post a picture. I want to do this swap, but R50's are hard to come by in the yards here.

I lied, it was a five speed, here are the pictures.

    IMAG0002-1.jpg

    IMAG0004-1.jpg

This is installed in a square dash truck (93), and I have a real good hunch that it would fit much cleaner in a round dash (94-95) truck.

Very nice i like the look of it in the wd21's.

Mines a auto so was seeing if the cut out hole for the auto will line up with the r50 if not a manual console should work just need to take off the handle and slide the cover over and put it pack on.

You would cover up the indicators put there on the dash lol and most i'm sure know what gear there in lol.

  21. I was told 1 person on the forum has done this before but i was unable to find pics or if he was a manual or auto transmission.

I would just like to know if anyone has swapped a r50 center console into a wd21 pathfinder.

I know the parking brake handle will need to be moved closer to the drivers side which isn't a problem but just seeing if anyone has done this or has pics.

I also heard something about using a jeep grand cherokee console but something about it being to wide and not being able to use lumbar support which i need.
