  1. We were ice fishing in North Bay -42 celcius with winds and all. When its really cold my truck loves to lock itself (really annoying since I only have 1 key). Well, we woke up the second morning and my path and 1 other guy on the lake were the only ones to have vehicles start, so as I was letting my truck warm up, the door slamed shut and locked itself, truck still running. Took about 10 mins to find a coat hanger, and another 30 to unlock the door. Everything kept slipping because of the cold, but at least the truck was warm. Went to jump my buddies civic, the windsheild washer fluid line snapped because it was so cold, with the winter fluid in it, crazy.

  2. I got really excited because she got in two consecutive tanks 16.9 and 17.7 MPG......then 450 miles into my 1300 mile trip........she just quit on me at 70 mph on the interstate.....we coasted to the shoulder and I tried to restart her......nada......turn the key to the on position and all dummy lights come on and the radio works and the AC even blows cold........all without the engine running.....no click...no slow starter....no nothing......just put a new starter, new yellow top optima, new to me, but working maxi alty, new plugs, new rotor.....new cap.....new belts.....she just lost power and died......called a wrecker a nd we were loaded up and on the way to the Stealership and the dang wrecker had a blowout!!!!!an hour and a half later we were back on the road.....the closest stealership to where it happened has her now and is gonna do whatever is necessary to fix her.......oh, and I checked.....good oil, water and tranny fluid....changed the oil a while back so a fairly new filter too......thank goodness I was able to get a rental on my Government Travel card!!!!! had to get a Mazda 6.....some AHole had just gotten the last Altima.....I wanted to try to keep it in the family, ya know!!!!!! If it weren't for bad luck..........

    Did you check your grounds?

  3. I went over some train tracks and this happened to me while I was driving up to the ski hill. It turned out to be my torsion bar adjuster, the bar itself was fine.

I think it was around $150-200.... but I might have had other work done too, I remember it not being anything crazy expensive.

    Good luck man.

  4. Background: I've been getting a clicking noise from the passenger front while making right hand turns, or hard lefts.

Nothing from the driverside. So today I jacked it up and took off the wheel to take a look. None of the bolts were loose that I tried. And the cv boots were in pretty good shape. I reapplied grease to the turn stops (but that's a different noise I'm used to). On a guess I looked at the body bolt, right behind the wheel, and it was really loose.

I took it for a drive and didn't notice a clicking anymore. But at looking at the condition of my suspension, is it time to replace it all?

    Sorry for the long post.

  5. Went too the gas station in it, I got my first ticket ever, for loud exhaust. Also got bitched at for it being too high (bumper to ground, mn is 28inchs) lack of fender flares, expired tabs, unreadable plates, lack of amber colared turn signals and lack of bumpers.

Do you have a picture of your truck? Hard luck man.

  6. That's a pretty personal question. If you have the spare $$ laying around and space to house a parts truck then you could always go look at it before buying it; see what shape the parts are in that you would want. I don't know about where you live, but you would basically get $300 from a scrap yard anyways here, so as long as you pull $150 in parts, you could be ahead of the game.

But, IMO its more of a personal question that you need to think about. (These trucks are pretty comfy to sleep in )

  7. There are adhesion sprays that you can buy for this sort of thing. I'd probably sand it with a really high grade paper, the use the spray before painting. I just painted a chrome grille and my only suggestion would be to MAKE sure you touch every part, I missed about an inch and the paint wouldn't stick.
