  1. you guys rock, thanks so much...... that gives me an idea of what i need to do
  2. some pics of one of these installed please.... or so called 'clamp' would be very much appreciated. I would buy you a 'virtual' 6 pack. like these.......
  3. come on man, what doesn't kill you just makes you stronger and here are the culprits.... going to sand and paint them obviously. but as you can see.... theres something missing
  4. YES!! that would be excellent. When I was playing around with them yesterday, thats what I noticed.... the rear of the steps mounts to the rear trailing arm bracket... well THOSE 2 holes line up perfectly. At least I will have an idea about how to fab the missing brackets... and my pathy.... I don't do any hardcore wheeling, just getting into secluded spots for camping and fishing...
  5. Hey guys, so I picked up a set of nerf bars so the wife can stop complaining about getting in my pathy. These were from a 1994.... I own a 1991 se. I was under the impression that these vehicles were the same and the step bars should be an easy install. I'm not sure if I'm missing a bracket of some kind, but there are brackets welded to the bars as well as some bolts/nuts. However, nothing apparantly lines up to 'bolt' on. I tried finding some install instructions and I'm out of luck. If any of you fine gents have these nissan factory bars installed, do you mind taking a pic for me of how they are mounted to your truck..... please I was going to fab up some brackets and bolt it to the frame then have them welded on.... but none of the 'holes' in the frame line up with the holes in the existing brackets. anyways.... just some pics if you could. so I can figure out how i can macgyver these bars onto my truck. I will snap some pics of these bars when I get home from work today as well. cheers
  6. hell ya took us longer to get through the 6 pack i bought.
  7. well gentlemen, you are 2 for 2. was just a loose wire connection on the newly installed starter. runs great. thanks again. I will have to post some pics. cheers
  8. thank you gentlemen. so the plastic donut is still there on the clutch pedal...... the lights do not dim at all when I try to start it. the battery connections are solid. though i forgot my voltmeter at work. my friend should be arriving shortly...... with MY battery charger. hahaha and jumper cables ironically. that being said, I looked at the receipt for the starter and its a lordco rebuild..... so that is a definite possibility. ( if thats the case I will buck up and pay for a quality piece) so when my friend arrives I will do a voltage check on battery, re- check grounds, listen for the relay click, and hot wire the starter to see it will turn then. all possibilities mentioned above will be looked at..... just want to say thanks again boys. time is money, and if i can diagnose this without having to pay a mechanic to trouble shoot it makes me smile.
  9. thanks. I have a buddy coming over after work too. I was going to put a charge on the battery as well as have him help me 'jump' it. I will look into that clutch pedal switch as its a manual..... the battery 'appeared' fine. as well as the connections. I will give it a thorough once over after work today. just took my by suprise as the amount of work, love and attention this thing got in the last year from its previous owner.
  10. So gentlemen (and ladies) i have this new to me pathfinder..... 1991 se. posted a question a control arm bushing cause search wasn't working and your answeres gave me the courage to successfully do these steering/suspension repairs myself. so it had had an engine swap. just another 3l v6. 2 inch lift body. has had some maintenance work done by me. control arms, bushing, tie rods..... just got the alignment done yesterday. so I took it on a fairly long drive yesterday to buy some used 31's. vehicle was running great. no heating issues. power was very good. (has 3 inch exhaust) and I was enjoying the sunny vancouver weather. so I go to fire up the truck this morning and it will not start. lights come on the dash, radio works as well as all auxilary options... there is no ticking noise when trying to start, no sound at all..... just the silence of death. so I gave the starter a shot with a hammer on the bushing side. not very hard just a decent 'shot' the starter was replaced not even a year ago. (have receipt) so just wondering where to start. have any of you guys had a random no start when everything appears to be fine. no hint of any mechanical/electrical issues.? is there a neutral sensor or something? are there any specific relays I should look at? so where would you guys start?? i've owned this thing like a week and only drove it yesterday. for 2 fskcin hours.... it's spent more time on jack stands in my parking garage than it has on its own tires.
  11. thanks gentlemen, and ya the site is great. i've been a lurker for quite a while.
  12. think it might just be wiser to save the headache and effort and just buy a new upper control arm with bushings installed.... correct?
  13. gentlemen, first off I'd like to say this site is great... or was before the move. so i tried "searching" and all threads can't be read..... so I will just post the questions I have. So 91 pathy, front passenger upper control arm bushing is in rough shape. I just bought this truck off a guy who replaced all the ball joints etc but forgot to change that bushing and was "too lazy" to go back. i'm under the impression that I will have to remove the entire upper control arm to replace this $3 bushing... Is this true??? as all my research has led me to believe. I can't just put a jack to the arm and untighten the bolt remove the reataining washer and put a new one in? then put said washer and nut back on.... ??? I've only done brakes and some exhaust work. never any suspension work. I used to race rc's so I'm mechanically capable and have the tools.. I'm just wondering if there is an easier way. than taking off the brakes prying apart the ball joints etc. seems like such a monumental process for a relatively cheap bushing. also, I read on here I beleieve, that you can clean the existing bushing and use "polyeurothane" silicone and rebuild the bushing. let it set and put the washer and nut back on. The rear side of the bushing appears fine. just where the washer and nut would be pushing againt the bushing 'head' on the front of the arm is basically missing.... and the reatining washer is rubbing against the control arm. not really safe to drive. my apologies but the search issue has me lacking the 'resources' i need. cheers guys. I was hoping to do this today.
