  1. idk why but i like the grill on the 87's. wondering if i find one in a junkyard or something if itll fit my 93? the one on the 97 has the Nissan name up on the drivers side towards the headlight and is all lines... ill try to find one online and post it up...

  2. OH no!! its only supposed to be 5.3!!!

    LOL

    honestly, you'll be fine enjoi

Lol, aww dammit! R u kidding or will putting 5.5 qts in stead of 5.3 really do anything? Lol, I'm just worried that its gonna screw up again. I don't want to take anychances. :):aok:

I'm just so nervous bout it breaking cuz its my first rig... ;)

  3. Man where are all these wicked tire deals around here? Haha...good find bro.

got em off craigslist, 15 miles away from me, they look relly "aggreassive". ill add some pics later when i get home, and this weekend of i get em on my truck... :jig:

  4. they will fit fine, i only think you will need to crank the T-bars if they are sagging.

Yeah we had to reset the t bars cuz the guy that did the clutch last didn't reset them right and they were cranked all the way up but the truck looked as if they were there at all... So it sat like an effin hot rod, lol. :)

  5. You have leaves in the blower motor squirrel cage. It sits upright like a bowl to catch everything that comes in. Pull your resistor and clean it and the box then drop the blower motor to the right of the resistor and clean it out. This happens to alot of vehicles.

Sweet, I will do this when I get it back from the shop, hopefully I'll have it back this weekend...

  6. About lunch??

Clean out the resistor pack behind the glove box before your truck catches on fire.

Speaking of fire, if you develope an exhaust leak at the collector to mid pipe exhaust joint, it will usually burn through the floor board and set the padding and your right foot on fire.

No, not much else to pay attention to, just carry marshmallows... ;)

Resistor pack? Where would I find this and what does it look like

  7. So lemme ask ya something ... how brutally heavy is the transmission and transfer case to re and re ? I'm doing an engine swap and am having issues with getting the damn thing out, so I am thinking about pulling the transmission and t/case to aid in getting the engine out for one, but I think the trans/transfer case in the donor vehicle is in better shape too ... so I'm thinkin bugger it ... switch the entire driveline over ! Reason I ask is that I'm workin solo ( altho I can get some extra hands to help ... ), but I could get a floor jack and a tranny jack adapter ... cuz I'm guessing the thing weighs a TON !!

Its pretty heavy, I would get some help if I were you, especially if u have someone that can, and we took the tranny and transfer case out with out splitting them, and get some help especially if you're on the ground... :)

  8. I was just wondering if there are any things that I should be looking for to give me problems... I know about the frame rust, the spot under the rear passegnger door that rusts ( like mine, anyone know how to fix it?) the transmission oils, my tach doesn't work? Any other inputs on what to be looking for over the years I'm gonna be driving it is very appriciated. Oh and I also know about the exhaust manifold studs breaking and the manifolds warping( which I'm almost sure one of those has happened on mine cuz it has an exhaust leak somewhere, and I just replaced the exhuast gaskets.... Thanks again for anyones help. :)

  9. the big problem of GL4 and GL5 is the addatives.

alot of the GL 5 oils have phosphorus anti whear properties.. this is BAD news for soft metals.

I use GL 6 in my tranny. and YES its OK.. it does not have the adatives that make things go all bad on ya.

(it works out to be SAE 150 )

I also use 80/90 in my T- case.. NO worries there. Don't put ATF in those things, they only did this on some of them. there is no reason to. If you stay with Dino oil, use pensoil Syncromesh. and put the same thing in your t-case.

and unless your me, use 80/90in your diffs.

I use 85/140 in my diffs, but thats a whole nother can of worms. (aftermarket diffs)

Awww dammit, wish some one wouldve told me sooner, i allready put ATF in my transfer case.... Oh well hope it doesn't cause problems....;)

  10. General thoughts? Are there any tricks to anything or complications I should be aware of? I'm getting ready to install a new automatic into an '89 Pathfinder.

I don't know about the auto, mine is a manual, on mine I have to remove the torsion bar crossmember, tranny mount crossmember, and.... The exhaust Y-pipe, but depending on how yours is setup, it may have different requirements for you... The guy that did the clutch before I bought it screwed the tranny up because he didn't put enough oil in it, (through the top) and he drove it like a mad man, and didn't put any of the exhaust gaskets back on, nor did he clean out the fragment of clutch disc that exploded, or reset the torsion bars(correctly) but this time we did it the right way. As far as yours I can say to much...we did it on the ground also, maybe be easier on a lift? ;)

  11. It will not list on the label.

Yes, you can use a dual spec oil since it still meets the requirements of GL-4.

I belive royal purple is dual spec.

In addition to redline; sta-lube and amsoil also make a GL-4 75w90...

Bought Some Sta-Lube, 80-90 or somethin like that and got my truck back to gether yay!!

  12. TSB stands for Technical Service Bulletin and this is in the TSB section at the top of the Garage section.

Liters to quarts and pints, you mean?? 2 pints=1quart while 1 quart=.95 liters as Simon pointed out. Since you fill the drive train until it runs out of the fill hole, you really just have to make sure you have enough. If you are just shy of what you need and don't want to buy another quart, top it off with Lucal Oil Stabilizer, it will only do good thing...

    B

Well, I bought two gallons of Sta-Lube from napa. It's GL-4! And lower. So all good to go to put the transmission back together.
